First Grow- Custom GrowBox

My first grow-
I have been Reading alot of Journals and especially the indoor CFL postings around here on RIU and have to thank everyone on here for sharing their grow experiences with all of us newbs and I have learned a lot and so, with the ass kissing aside, on with my grow-

I have 6 random mids bag seeds, that sprouted their tails around the 1st or 2nd of December the old fashion way with wet paper towel on a plate covered by a bowl that i transferred into rapid rooters in a dome for a couple days befor transferring into MG- Moisture Control mixed with MG Perlite(growing on a budget) in 3 party cups and three 3" clay pots.

how long before i need to transfer to bigger pots?

I am working on getting some pictures
(which site works well uploading photos on?)

My Box:
I built my GrowBox out of plywood and 2x3's from the local HD
Dimensions:30"W x 40"T x 24"D
Lighting: 2 100 Watt equivalent Daylight CFL
2 60 Watt " "
& 2 60 Watt equivalent Soft White CFL
I also have a Humidifier set up in the box to try n keep the temp at around 80-85 Degrees F. and the humidity around 50%
^Sound about right?^

What kind of fans should I get?
I'm not an Electrician by any means but im pretty sure i could wire in some sort of fan w/ controls
I just need advise on which ones i could find at the local HD or Lowes.
At the moment I have no real good way of ventilation besides propping the door
open an inch or too and blowing a fan into the box

I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of questions after all this is my first grow
so any and all advise is welcome! Thanks!

I have been stressing over a better way to spread the light across the plants, just waiting on some more $$$ I'll definetly be on the lookout across RIU for ideas

use my method 250w cfl and hood like my cabinet grow :P
Very cool setup btw Dopewear +rep
Where did you get the 250w cfl and what fixture did it take?
as well as where did you get the fans?

I'm thinking something like this?

using a spare 2x3's left from the box and the half ducting from a Lowe's or HD
some chain and eyehooks and possibly the fixture and 250 watter too?

I'm just overwhelmed with the possibilities

the 250 watt and the fixture i got from a local light supplier. you get check your local hydro stores or order from the net either or works. the 250w bulb take a mongul fixture that can be plugged straight into the wall or timer. the fans can be purchased at futureshop or bestbuy or any computer store. your scretch looks alot like my cabinet hope it all works out man.

hey bro, the box is looking good so far. Some ideas for fans would be pc fans, they move air well and are small and compact. Is your grown stealth??? If not you could get away with a small bathroom fan or exhaust fan, you will be able to find these at hd or lowes easily. Ebay would be a good bet for pc fans, 1 intake, 1 exhaust would be good, aswell one for circulation inside the box! Your lights look good for now you might want to add more or re position when flowering comes along. Good luck dude i'll come check it out now and again.

Hey Peenz thanks for the heads up +rep, I'll definetly look into that I'm thinkin of adding a carbon filter to the exhaust if it starts to stink too bad but so far, just earthy. =)

I'm pretty much leaving them alone right now, will try to get some pics in the next couple days... hold tight

Well this is a pretty dead thread but I'll continue to post pics n updates.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I'm on the right track as far as size of the plants at this point.

I am at about week 2 now and the one larger of the plants has been doing great, sprouting a couple new leaves and really starting to get some size to it, while the others are growing, but not quite at her pace.

So, now some eye candy, plz let me know what you think RIU!:
Here's the Larger girl(hopefully) and the second largest one next to her

And a few of the smaller ones...

and the rest of them.

looking great man!
Thanks alot boss, I'm lovin watching these girls grow, just wish it was faster... haha but dont we all?

Pretty soon here I'm going to transplant my two larger ladies into something bigger and then hopefully they will really take off.

Oh and btw I also have some Roots Organics, Buddha Grow Nutes, when should i begin mixing this in with the watering schedule? anyone?

Thanks again for stoppin by,

-AlaskaGrown-

Bored...bongsmilie

Heres a pic of what i got so far I havent added any nutes yet really just the SuperThrive which I think is helping?

The Buddha Grow's NPK is 2% .6% 1.5% with a 1% Calcium,
I've read somewhere to us a heavily diluted solution to begin say 30% of what the bottle says?

Anyone know if there is anything fairly inexpensive to add to my soil and or nutrients selection, that I can find at the local HD or Lowes that would be of benefit?

I also plan on trying the LST any Idea when I should start with the rubber paper clips?

Sorry, I have so many questions :eyesmoke:

alaskan hows it goen? nutes should start 2-3 weeks after sprout and started at quarter strength and slowly built up. and from what ive heard the reason behind clay pots sucking is the fact they absorb moisture so your soul dries out fast.... something along those lines but thats why most us us use plastic pots. and when to start LST i usually start after about 4 notes and bend it over before the stem gets to strong and cant be bent and yah just tie it over and maintain your even canopy and youll be rocking it.

cheers DW

Much love for the info sorry its been a while i was out of town for a while and came back to find my roomate all but let them shrivel up but i have saved 5 of the 6 and they are doing well so far.

I took the advice and took the ones out of the clay pots and moved all 5 left into bigger pots (finally used up the rest of that MG) and I am going to invest in some better soil next time.

I have bent over three of them to try the LST method and I have been reading about topping and been thinking about topping one or two just to see each method side by side maybe even combining the two on one of them...

It has been about a month now btw and i will have some pics soon.

lemme know what ya think RIU!
