First Grow: Durban Poisen (quasi outdoors)

first time grow. I dont really know what i'm doing that much but it seems to be going well so far.

Germination went off perfectly and they sprouted in about 24 hours. all 5 sprouted no problem. the other pics are from today after 2 days of planting. Planted with some homemade worm castings + potting soil + organic compost.

The big problem i see so far is that I planted them in such a big container its really hard to properly water them right now (i've been spraying near the seedling and watering very carefully around the edge of the container). I'm germinating some purple power right now which i'll put in a much smaller container to start off with.

Only other problem so far i see is that one of the seedligns is really droopy. I have them outside in the sun (i'm living in the part of the world where its just starting to become spring/summer). Dont know why its like that (you can see it in the last pic. the rest seem to be doing fine.

oh and anyone is welcome to post comments/suggestions if they want to (although i'm not sure there is much to comment on yet). i'll try to update frequently

good luck dude, i wouldnt worry about the big pot size ... id think it was a good thing to start em in a pot they will stay in untill you cut em down after buddn.

you may want to consider adding pearlite to your soil..
see if you can stake that little one upright too

yeah I am adding pearlite to the soil that i'm going to plant the ones that are currently germinating.

do you think i could possibly add pearlite to the ones thta are already planted without causing issues with the roots getting messed up or is it too risky?

they are so small right now so the roots havent gone to far ... i would try to cut out a square around them maybe 4" away from the stem .. and dig it out like that, mix in perlite and replant.. the sooner the better .
or you can just leave them in that and see how they do

OK. here are some updated pics. I transplanted them into a medium that is now worm castings/organic compost potting soil and perlite.

they are growing larger although some of them are starting to lean to the site. is that anything i should be worried about?

put some more soil in there so it stands up

ok so its been almost 3 weeks now. they are looking much bigger although the tiny one is still tiny.

although I'm thinking that my plant pot size is not big enough. They are only like 3 gallons. should i transport them into a 5-6 gallon pot? if so is that something i should do right now or should i wait until they get bigger?

are you flowering them inside ? how tall do you want them ?
either way you should wait at least another 2 weeks before transplanting out of there

everything is going to be done outsite. so because of that i'm assuming that would get pretty tall and 3 gallons isn't enough?

prolly not, you can keep them in those 3 gal till they get over 24" tall ... then move em to a 5 gal bucket or something bigger if you want

You'll like the DP smoke! Although tends to give me a a little paranoid if I smoke too much of it.

updated pic. they are doing well. a little over 18" right now. they had some hwite flies so i sprayed some neem oil and that seemed to do the job.

question: what will happen if i dont put them in larger containers? will that effect their health or will it just limit the size they will get?

If i do transport them is there any advice on how to do that? Can I use the same soil that I currently have them in and then just mix up a litle more to put into the bigger container? it seems risky taking them out this far along in their growing.

is that a gallon pot they are in now ? what is the pot made of ?
transplanting is easy... your plants should come out of those pots with all the soil attached to the roots in a ball ... you then put that in a bigger pot with soil in the bottom so they will be at the same height they were ... and then fill in the sides with soil ...

they are around a 3 gallon pot made of some sort of hardish plastic (with holes cut in the bottom obviously). i was thinking about putting them in 5 gallon pots?

aaah i was actually asking south africa but cool i figured south of the equator since the seasons are reversed from us here in the US
