First grow ever (Lots of questions)

Hey all, first post, been lurking for a few weeks now.

I recently got an MMJ card, and now an itch to grow has found me. I want to do an SCROG grow in soil, under CFLs, in a setup similar to this:
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=29593

I have a space that is 20"x16"x36" to make a cab in, and I'm going to be growing 2 medical clones. I'm going to do SCROG to maximize yield, and I was curious if this would work under CFLs.

The most important factor is stealth, I wsh to be as silent and as odorless as possible. Yield is the second most important factor, with ease of maintenance being least important. It must grow enough to satisfy 10 grams/week for 10 weeks.

Since I have been lurking the related forums, hardware stores, and electronics stores, I have a general idea of cost, as well as what kind of equipment I might need.

My curent idea is to construct the cabinet and have a false front on it, and then stow it in my closet. I was considering a combo of 2 85W 6500K for veg and then adding 6 23W 2700K when I switch to 12/12. Total output would be around 8100 lumens per square foot during flowering. I do not have the money to invest in HPS or hydroponics.

Ok, now come the questions:

>Can CFLs be used for SCROG?
>What size fan should I purchase to adequately ventilate a 7 cubic foot cab?
>how big (long and thin preferably) should my rootpans be?
>is 36" enough height for a CFL SCROG grow with indicas?
>Any tips on keeping the sound and smell to a minimum to avoid detection?
>Should I use LST or pinching?

And if you have an personal advice, please give it..it would be greatly appreciated. Any favorite fertilizers, soils, light set ups will all be be welcomed information.

If this were your space, what would you do with it to meet these needs? How would you design it? that's the bottom line question I'm asking.

Any ways, please note:
I won't be building this cab until I get a job, as I was recently laid off and cannot afford to build it right now. I want to get this planned though so I can get to building quickly once I can.

Where in the hell am I?

>Can CFLs be used for SCROG?
Yes
>What size fan should I purchase to adequately ventilate a 7 cubic foot cab?
Debatable, depends on the heat in yer situation from yer CFL's. I never had to use more than 2 household fans
>how big (long and thin preferably) should my rootpans be?
I dont know what that is
>is 36" enough height for a CFL SCROG grow with indicas?
yes. you will flower @ about 12-16", so you will be fine
>Any tips on keeping the sound and smell to a minimum to avoid detection?
Many on this site
>Should I use LST or pinching?
LST and topping or fimming
BTW, yer gonna need some damn good luck to get that much outta 2 plants. 100 grams is A LOT

Yeah, I realize that I've got some high hopes. I read (in the guide I posted) that he averaged 50g/square foot. Honestly, I'd be happy with 70g, but it's nice to have extras and I have the space.

With the fan, I was thinking around 5 times the volume of the cab per minute, so around 30 CFM, with exhaust dumped into a carbon scrubber. The intake would be as described in the guide, sans the mother room.

I was thinking of mounting additional, small PC fans inside as well.

by rootpans I meant the pots. In order to conserve height, is it ok to have a pot that is shallow but has around 7 liters of soil? I was thinking of using a couple of 10x16x3 aluminum roasting pans for pots.

This is a pic of the space I wish to use...the box is the size of the cab, 16x20. I could really piss my roommates off if they noticed, as the don't agree with growig really, and would probably steal my stuff anyways. The cab will have to be assembled in the closet beacuse the area is small and hard to get to.

ok, so I looked at the numbers and it would be more efficient to use all 2700k CFLs. Using 12x23W CFLs, packed onto a moving platform 15" wide, I could fit 12 lights in a 1.25 (minimum) sq. ft. area. That way I don't waste wattage on 85W 6500k daylight bulbs, and I could even switch some of the 23W to cool white for veg. This would produce 19200 lumens, or ~8700 lumens/sq. ft. for 276W.

Question is this: is it safe to wire all the lights in parallel? I know little about setting up something like this, and I want to make sure it's safe.

I saw this while looking around about lighting:
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/120019839/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0

The concentration of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), but not of other cannabinoids, in both leaf and floral tissues increased with UV-B dose in drug-type plants.
Is it worth it to throw 2 of these in there?
http://www.petdiscounters.com/Repti-Glo-100-UVB-Compact-Fluorescent-Bulb-26-Watt-p8334.html

And do CFL UVB lights still need to be 2" or less from the tops, or can they be more like 7" with a reflector? Also, which wavelengths of UVB are best (I've heard the lower the better)?
