First Grow Flowering Problems

Hey everyone,

This is my first ever grow and would like some help if possible. The plant looks to be a sativa but I don't know the exact strain. Grew it from a seed I got from and friend and luckily came out female. I'm growing outdoors btw.

The plant is in the middle of flowering and I don't see any pistils from my lower buds. The top portions shows good flowers with pistils though. The plant got damage from high winds that caused a big stem to break off. It also got a lot of nutrient burn about 3 weeks ago when I mixed General Hydroponics 3 part series incorrectly.

The first pic is of one of the lower flowers which looks like it doesn't have any pistils. The second pic shows the top cola with pistils. Am I missing something? It's about 5-6 weeks into flowering.

Yep looks Sativa or dominate.
Your growing outside. May take a bit longer for the bottoms to start sprouting those pistiles.
Sativas tend to take a long time to finish.
Good luck:peace:

That nute burn likely stunted the plant. At 5-6 weeks into flower you should have much more pistil development even with a long flowering strain. I don't think that plants going to produce very well. There isn't much you can do but grow it out and harvest what you can. If you burned it about three weeks ago then it was just getting started with it's flowering cycle when it happened based on your 5-6 weeks of flowering. That's the worst possible time to stress the plant. I've seen the same thing happen before. The buds turned out like clusters of sugar leaf with little pistil and calyx development. Hopefully I'm wrong but I think that's where this plant is headed. Just my opinion.

Good luck.

I agree with xtsho. Even long flowering sativa strains (12-14 weeks) would have a considerable amount of growth on them after 5-6 weeks. It looks like your plants are all leaves, no flower. I can tell from the pictures that you have a serious calcium deficiency. Either that, or calcium has been locked out do to a nutrient imbalance (usually phosphorus) or an abnormal pH level. These symptoms are most obvious in the first picture. Those "rust spots" on the leaves are a tell-tale sign of calcium deficiency. Unfortunately all flowering plants, vegetables, weed and all, need a considerable amount of calcium top promote strong flower sites.

My advice would be to pH the system and give it RO water with a little cal/mag for the next watering.

Overfeeding / AKA nute burn will cause nutrient deficiencies. I agree with just water for awhile and then 1/4 -1/2 strength nutes. That's basically all that can be done at this point.

Thank you for the response everyone. My fear is that I may have stunted it like xtsho said. I cut down on the nutes and started adding CaMg into my feed for this plant. I appreciate your help with the and will update you all in a few weeks.

I have a few other ladies that are coming out really nice. This sativa was my first ever grow but I am learning with the help of this forum. Again, thank you all for the help.
