Dude you've got bigger problems that topping isn't going to solve. They are stretching from lack of light possibly, and it looks like you're having issues with deficiencies or bad media.

Topping could stress the plants out more. It is best to top a healthy plant. You just cut the top off 5 or 6 nodes up or where ever you want. Cut just above the node, where the two lateral shoots there are growing in (they'll take over as the leaders).

Topping looks like this.

Its usually done after the 4th node. Make sure your sheers are sanitized and your hands as well. After you clip her use your finger to stop the bleeding like you would a cut.

Expect her to take a few days to recover and sprout lower nodes.

A great guide can be found here.

It does look like its to hot in there and the lights are too far away.

u can top anywhere and it will start lateral side branching but you've got so much growth I would hate to see u lose the whole top 6"of plant, although u could use that to clone a whole other plant. Rather in ur case IMO u should bend the stem down and secure it initiating those laterals to start growing. U waste nothing and ur plant will bush up quickly.

Dude your critisism is not gonna help. The plant looks fine. It needs training and thats all. A simple explanation of LST was all he needed.

first get those nutes under control, check to make sure that plant is female ? or it is stretched light to far away or weak. male plants tent to grow like the one pictured, tall and nothing on them from my experience any ways. just cut that plant any where that looks good and throw it in to a cloner . hydro is best for toping my experience,

Yeah i know what is wrong with all of my plants and have fixed the problems. A little ph problem and a little burning from the light. Other than that they are all female and healthy. Thanks for the input guys very much appreciated.

You did what I did, common mistake. You waited too long to top your plants.
If you topped now then yes, the bottom branches will bush out, HOWEVER... you will end up with what looks like a giant letter "Y".
A Y plant is a lanky stick that cannot support the weight of the two new shoots that you created when topping.
In your case LST would prove more beneficial. Do a Google search of the Low Stress Training method.
