Hey everyone, well after multiple closet grows failing (about 10 different attempts) I figured it was a temp issue and prob a soil issue so now i have 3 seedlings all sprouted with different soil combinations..the main one that has taken the lead is a top soil, perlite vermiculite mix. Just had a quick question on my main seedling. She looks a bit short and I was wondering if it was normal for them to be this way when the 2nd leaves are appearing (heard females grow shorter). Any insight on this is greatly appreciated and thoughts (just excited they haven't died yet lol).

Poke some holes in the bottom of the cup, place it in a dish and try and feed from the bottom would be my thought

CFL grow.. have 6 24w cfls 6400k a 85w cfl full spec i hvnt put in yet since its huge and these guys are also under a t5 2ft 2bulb HO. Wasn't going to upgrade lighting system till I had a successful grow or 2 under my belt.

by chance do u know a decent range i could put my t5 at so i could get the 85w under there lol its ridiculously big..

I have had the best results by putting little holes in the bottom of the cup and watering once at the begining when i plant the seed. When the soil is pretty much dry at the top i water again. The seedling wont grow above the soil much as the first week or so its trying to grow roots so it can take up water and nutrients. also i suggest you stop poking your finger in the dirt , you will upset or damage whatever roots are trying to develope its a tiny plant in a tiny cup.if the soil is obviously dry at the top give it a little water. The roots will naturally stretch toward the bottom of the cup no matter what.Watering from the top is totally cool but you can just put water in a tray at the bottom if you want either way the drain holes will do what they do.after you notice roots or after the first week if all goes well then you wont have to water until the whole cup is fairly dry. You can tell when the cup is dry by the obvious weight difference wet/dry.I do not suggest feeding them until they have filled the cups half way with roots or close to it, but if the plant wants it (lighter than normal leaves and severley purple stems and slower growth combined).I had grown in plastic cups with perlite vermiculite and soil most of my teenage years with results comparable to hydroponics. every thing i just told you is the simplest and the most effective information I think I can give without digging up years of old notes. Cheers PS. stop poking the soil, Im serious......

for the first few weeks i only used about 7 26 watters then i hit it with all i had. i also added a few more 26 watters to the bottom so in all 9 26 watters 4 55 watters mixed spectrum
