First grow in closet

Just found the first preflowers starting to show. Good timing because I have had a creative day rearranging and throwing stuff out to make another grow cupboard to vege the clones because there just wasn't enough room in my present setup.

I'm guessing that I should now go 12/12 with the light? But I didn't think I would be getting pre-flowers until a week or two into 12/12 and I'm still not 100% satisfied that the clones will be ok?

What to do?

The clones are now in pots under their own 45 w daylight cfl and my main mature plant is now on 12/12 under the 105 w coolwhite cfl and growing...

The clones leaves started to droop and looked like they needed to have the rock wall in a better medium for temp and moisture control. So even though they didn't have roots showing, 2 days ago I put them into small pots to help keep them at a good temperature and to better regulate moisture content. I mist them a couple of times a day and might give a little water when the mix starts to feel a little dry and they look and feel healthy (leaves are still a little droopy from before potting).

The clones need minimal light to begin with.
How close is this 45w cfl to the clones?

The light is between 8" - 10" away and they have been under light since cutting 9 days ago.

No I didn't wait to see roots because I felt that they needed to be in a better medium by 7 days as it was really hard to maintain moisture and temp evenly with just the cubes which is why I plonked (carefully placed) them into pots with mix and have them under 24 hrs of 45 w daylight cfl in their own space. The light helps keep the temp around 24 c, otherwise it would drop too far, until they are established and stabilized which I don't think they are yet, and being cfl they don't dry out, but I do mist them a couple of times a day.

I tend to take what I read and then adapt it to my situation using the basic formulae with a dash of gut instinct thrown in for good measure... doesn't always work but it does most of the time and yes there are only females in this flat - me and my plants

lol cool I'm not even that careful with temp, but my clones look good... how do you feel about vegging under flouros or cfls?

Hey there Dopeman, yeah cfls'. Well this is my first grow ever so I wouldn't know how they would go wiht other lighting, but I am really happy with my plant so far. I think anything less than 105 watt cfl's for canopy lighting is a waste of time because they don't have the penetration like the 105 has through the leaves. Plus she is very healthy and so short at 11" still and so bushy and takes up almost my whole grow space width wise with plenty of hight room left to grow.

As for flowering under cfls' then watch this space. If all goes well then I plan to cure the buds with the water curing method the Videoman has posted https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/7422-curing-your-buds.html


Just got a timer for the clones so now have them under 18/6 light.

Just checked out your grow journal, so how are your clones, any pics?

The clones are starting to purk up over the past couple of days and I have even spotted some new growth on a couple, so far so good. I think they are about 13 days old.

And my flowering babe is getting bushier every day with what I hope will be potential bud sites - time will tell

Yes I've found my first real flowers this morning at 8 days into 12/12 in the top, but I'm getting concerned about the pre-flowers lower down which started to appear last week - They don't look like balls or the pics of male pre-flowers, but maybe still too early to tell so I'll keep a close eye on them.

Clone update: All 5 clones are looking purky and have started growing.

I'm just using my webcam for pics so a close up of the flowers aren't aren't possible.

Noticed a zinc def with some of the clones so picked up some liguid fert for them, which I have started using on my flowering plant also. I'm applying it via the leaves with a spray bottle and following directions to the letter.

Hey catGirl! Looks like you've got a good start. I saw that someone already mentioned FoxFarm nutrients. They truly are an amazing fertilizer.I've been using foxfarm on my white widow, mauiwowie, new purplepower, and Big Bud plants. ....and they love it!! Just food for thought. Keep up the good work.

Ooooops . Was speaking to my friend tonight and got some advice on what I thought was zinc def in 4 of the clones. When I potted the clones I added slow release ferts to the mix like I did for my first plant. So it seems that this is the likely reason for the problem as it wasn't happening to the one with the least ferts. Luckily I could remove 99% of the slow release balls and flush the plants, now time will tell and hopefully lesson learnt.

Thanks Victor. My plant/bush is showing bud growth all over including the lower branches which has got me excited. Soooo hopefully in about 6 weeks I could be very happy.

I wonder when she is fully in flower, if her strain could be better identified?

careful using the ferts on your clones... clones should recover fine as ling as they get proper pH ed water....
