First grow - in progress

Alright, so here goes my first post on here. After browsing this site for over a month now and learning quite a large ammount of tips and tricks on growing herb I have decided to make a account and start my first REAL grow. So back to the point, I found my old stash of about 100-200 seeds from various strands and decided "why not". for germination, I simply put the seeds in a drip damp paper towl folded in half and placed it in a small Tupperware container. Just in case the plants needed c2o I exhaled a few times into it. For the location, I put the container in my computer, not kidding here, actually IN my computer. "I have some spare space at the bottom and it's dark and a constant 80 degrees inside, also it's concealed" as of right now I have four of the six seeds coming out of their shells and one has a root tip about 1/8th of an inch long. My next step shall be a transplant to jiffy pots once all root tips are between 1/4th and 1/2 of an inch. The jiffy pots will then be placed outside and eventually transplanted to the planting site not to far away. For planting I plan on using miracle grow moisture controll pottng soil and will fertilize with a liqud soluble fertilizer "20-20-20" transplant to this site will occur when plants will have 4 spiked leaf sets. Anyway that's how far I am atm and any help or tips for me would he awesome : ) if anyone has used jiffy pots before please let me know the exact procedures for placing the rooting seeds into it and what precautions to take " like when first watering the jiffy pallets to use boiling water and allow it to cool in order to sterelize it" I also have a pH/fertile soil meter that I will use all throghout the process.

Seems like you got everything pretty much down. I wouldn't worry about feeding these plants any nutes for a while, and i just might be easier to use some soil and beer pong cups instead of them Jiffy pellet things. But always remember one thing. Be patient and do what works best for you.:leaf:

I wish you success. Did you already get your soil ? Miracle Grow Organics Choice Potting Mix in the brown bag is good stuff & will be nice to grow marijuana with. The only thing I recommend to add with the soil is perlite @ a ratio of 2 parts soil to 1 part perlite. That will fluff up your soil, & is great for drainage. You should be able to grow for a a few weeks without adding nutes.

Thanks for the fast response guys. I was thinking about taking the jiffy pots and placing them in a beer pong cup with soil in it as well. And I havnt bought soil as of yet, probably this weekend actually. So you say that the brown bag of miracle
grow is a better choice? I think I'll take your word for it : ) and thank you for te perlite idea, will do. How far into the grow should I start fertilizing?

Bio-bizz all mix and bio-grow i have found to be very good (not sales pitching, just genrally found that) and i also found if you go with about 50% perlight does a treat. I found going straight to soil is good... I got advised to use jiffy pellets once but had much luck myself.... Hope this helps too. I love the idea with the tupperware and kept in a computer case :D Good luck with it, I really hope it goes well.

P.s. I personally use nutes straight away by do indoors... I've heard alot of people say about giving it a week or so before starting them on it..... Aslong as you ween them off the nutes before moving the outside you should be ok.

The organics choice in the brown bag is definitely better. Get the one that says potting mix on the bag. Well if you use miracle grow perlite it will have some nitrogen in it. Not much which is good because you don't want to much N for your plants as you can fry your young plant with too much nitrogen. The soil will have enough nutes to pretty much get you through all of vegetation. You could start in week 3 adding more nitrogen with just using 1 part urine to 5 parts water. Take a leak in a measuring cup, pour pee in the gallon jug & add 5 times that amount of chlorine free water. water that into soil & not pour it over leaves. Do that every other feeding until flowering stage starts & then just use bloom food. A real affordable organic bloom fert can be found on eBay by a small company run by hippies that live up in the mountains brewing their own organic teas. Blue Mountain Organics has a product called Flower Power which you can get for under $15 & that includes shipping. It's good stuff & 1 bottle will make 32 gallons. One last thing & then I'm off to bed, Get yourself a bottle of unsulphured molasses / unsulphured blackstrap molasses. It can be found in the supermarket or healthfood supermarkets near most syrups. If you can't find it, ask where it is. You'll want that also for flowering, trust me you will !! 1 tablespoon of the unsulphured molasses to 1 gallon of water. You'll feed that every other feeding during Flowering. Between the flower power & the molasses which you get locally should pretty much do it for you as far as nutes are concerned :D

Thanks everyone for the info. Looks like tomorrow or in the next few days I'm gonna have some shopping to do : ) the urine idea is an amazing one, keeping it organic as much as possible : ) any stores in particular that you guys have as a favorite choice when it comes to buying supplies? Also, because I live in south Florida do I have any other precautions to worry about "fungus, mold"? If so, any simple treatments if the time comes? Tomorrow after work I'll provide you with pictures using my nice camera I have : )

mold wise, the biggest tip is, make sure the soil dries out. 1. the roots need air as well, so when the soil dries they get there air..... also it makes sure the water doesn't stick around so mold doesn't grow... if it's too warm mold will star growing... but as I learnt the hard way, if it's too cold, the it wont dry up and you'll get mold aswell. Looking forward to seeing the pictures though and seeing how there doing :)

You'll be able to get your soil /perlite at home depot or lowes. You can get a nice size measuring cup at publix / bed bath & beyond or maybe even the dollar store. Maybe just take a ride to walmart & grab all that stuff mentioned above there so you don't have to drive around to different places. The urine will work with no problems given the ratio I gave ya & told you how to apply. Just don't store urine away to be used at a later date. It's free & I'm sure every other day you'll have some available first thing in the morning to mix with water. To make chlorine free water just fill up gallon jugs of water from the tap & let sit with the cap off for 24hrs. You'll be good to go to use that water with the fertilizer & to use with mixing with urine.

P.S. If you don't have a measuring spoon for the ferts you should get the tinniest measuring cup there is. It will measure in tablespoons, milliliter & up to 2 oz's. Those are very handy & can be found at publix or bed bath & beyond.

UPDATE: first seed transplanted into small soil cup with jiffy pallet inside. Pictures
of current setup wil get uploaded tomorrow after I get off work. "note to self: I think the newest seeds I had germinated first. Which would mean since the last plant I extracted seeds from was super silver haze. So I think this baby might be the same : )"

With bag seeds you never know exactly what you'll get because a lot of them are hybrids that are mixed with other plants. (just saying)
But once the other seeds start showing they're root I would get them in soil as to not destroy them micro roots on them.

I hear ya man, but all the seeds I have decided to keep in that particular baggie were only from the dankest of the dankest strands I have smoked in the past; so either way, whatever they end up being, should be dank. And personally, I like supprises : ) Anyways, that one seed that grew fastest was most likely the newest/freshest seed compared to the rest that was ready to be germinated; and the last plant I took some seeds from was a super silver haze; so through deductive reasoning I think it is one and the same. That seedling with the micro-roots was transplanted tonight into a jiffy pallet/soil cup and is on it's way to becoming a grown up. One question however, does my seedling need sunlight at the current point in time or only after he pokes his head out of the ground? Should I simply place it in the same area/enviroment "in my computer" as the other germinating seeds i have until it sprouts
out of the ground?

also, i have two of the six plants transplanted and one is doing mighty fine! Although she is kinda tall for her age, any tips to keep her a bit shorter?

its been awhile fellas, a long time..... anyway, i ended up with 3 plants, one got bitten in half by a cat so its kinda still hanging in there.. along with my two others that are still going strong. One of my plants verdicts are in and it turns out she's a girl! = D
The other two i will soon find out in the following weeks. taking pictures now fellas!

sorry everyone...its been awhile

one plant was a male so i had to pull his ass before he impregnated my ladies.
one i am allowing to flower in the natural process so its in the vegetative phase still as we speak around 4' tall.
the other lady i have is having problems but she is still pushing through the flowering phase "about 2 weeks in"

now for the problems im having...

the VERY tips of the leaves are brown..and i mean the VERY tip of them, and this is the newly formed leaves. Then a few weeks later, about 40-50% of these leaves are turning yellow and fall off. Before flowering my lady looked a bit rootbound so i transplanted her into a 10-15 gallon pot. I flush her once a week with pure water and water her on and off every two days "one day with water, the other with 1/4th diluted miracle grow bloom plus". The buds themselves look fine its just i feel like she should be healthy when she is producing buds.

and before anyone asks a question. The pH is between 6.8-7.0 and the fertility is on "ideal" on my meter i have.
