Building a 1.5'x2.5'x3.5' box and obtaining more cfls within 12 days - so please excuse my grow conditions! :P Also - this is random bag seed from different bags.

Okay I've got one 42 watt 2700k CFL - two 26 watt 6000k cfls - one t8 25w warm and two t4 25 watt cool flouros (Flouros i had laying around and just threw in for some side coverage.)

Germed in blue Shop Paper towels - sprouted and still in Miracle Grow Organic Choice potting soil. Been on 24/0 - all sprouted within 12 hours.

So my questions are....

Do they look okay?

Is the larger plant big for it's age and conditions?

All four plants are rotated daily, and moved under the 6000k CFLS - so why the two small plants?

and why does the larger plant have a purple stem???

lol.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

This is my first post so im gonna take a stab at it.

Yes purple means indica and as far as the different sizes im guessing because you said it yourself you used a mixed bag of seeds, so they may not all be the same strain, and now growing at different rates.

To me the purple means a lack of nutrients to the plant, the stems should be green, another cause of purple stems is cold weather.

They look fine.

Purple stems are normal on many strains. You have different strains - so each may grow a little different.

Purple stems DO NOT always mean stress - I have two strains that always have purple stems, but grow perfectly every time.

Cool - Thanks for all the answers y'all. I'm not so worried now... :P

Should I start a 1/3 nut regiment on the larger of the plant, another leaf set has sprouted up about 1cm long, with another tiny set coming up too, since I posted the pics... ?

I've read a lot on here, and I've noticed some exp growers start their nuts pretty damn early... so i figured I might be able to handle it. :D haha

Yeah man trust me don't take 2 much on with your 1st, focus on letting them do what they do (grow and bud).
DO NOT make the big ol noob mistake with nutes. Don't feed them ANYTHING for atleast 2-3 weeks, they won't need it, you will fry them.
I fed my 1st to early (and 1/4 the directed) and burnt them a bit, on my other grows I got going I wont feed anything for atleast 3 weeks.
Yeah it's a bitch trying to buy all the lights and stuff as you go, it's un ending for me.
I have to decide to by smoke or lights/soil/other shit..... what is a broke guy to do....

My stems have been purple as fuck the whole grow. The plant is 1/4 through flowering and still looks perfectly healthy with purple stems!

They look fine bro. Even within a single strain you will get variations and different phenotypes. With random bagseed from multiple bags, you're certainly gonna see some differences. I like your use of mixed light spectrums, I personally like some reds thrown into my veg and a bit of blue during flower. Miracle Grow has nutes already in it, so be very careful about feeding. There are some Miracle Grow threads around here, you might want to check them out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info and advice man - Some of the purple is fading on some plants, but some it seems to be staying. Guess we'll see how it goes.
