first grow... ive ran into a minor problem... could use some help?

i agree with that, ditch the extra lights, use only your 400watt mh, and lower that one a bit, ph your water and bring it down to 6.6-6.9, and when you start using nutes, dont forget to test your water AFTER the nutes are added. your plants should be fine after a few weeks of TLC

if ur growin in soil..ur p.h. will be fine around 6.0-7.0...if it goes over or under this...then u should be doing things to fix it!...lemon juice..id say maybe a teaspoon for a gallon...dont take my word for it though...look it up or wait for someone else to reply that has used lemon juice before!

im not sure how much lemon juice, just go with 2 or 3 drops at first to see how much its lowered, if you go to low youll need to buy pool chemicals to bring it up, and i hate using chemicals, so just go real slow until you get an idea

oh yeah and in case your wondering, lemon juice is for your water, dont add directly to your soil lol

neeeeever use chemicals!!!!...if anything flush the shit out of it..and a couple days later it should be back up....dude just go buy some liquid ph up and down..and a digital ph meter...the meters can be expensive!..but ph up and down u can find pretty cheap!

do a search on organic ph up and down, like i said liquid ph up and down is chemical, although it doesnt hurt anything i highly recommende not using it unless your whole system is really out of whack, go the organic way on this. and yes buy a digital ph meter, itll save you alot of time and is a hell of alot more precise than the strips we used in high school

and i would much rather NOT use chemical ph up or down, id rather use something organic

the extra lights are bad cause there too damn close, ussually a plant grow towards a light, which causes them to be thin and stretched out, your are growing AWAY from the center lights, which should be your first clue that something is wrong. With a 400watt mh you can grow up to 4 plants easily, so why pay for the extra electricity that its costs to run 2 150watt and a flo. I suggest just using your 400, and buy a conversion bulb to flower. Sell your 150watters to someone to pay for the new bulb lol

mix the lemon with water then ph the water then add it too your soil if you really want to keep the other lights than keep em but you really oly need the mh for now

yah ph up and down is a chemichal!..but nothing like pool chemicals..atleast i dont think they r..just the sound "pool chemicals" doesnt sounds rite for a pot plant at all! i may be wrong though!

no such thing as extra light being bad..its just the way u had them placed... it was fucking ur plants all up..remember to rotate ur plants a half turn everyday!!!! and the more light the better!

Your plants are way to far away from the 400 watter.
You need to let tap water sit and breathe,lid off,for 48 hours imo.
Any good one part nute will bring down the ph levels to the correct levels and if you need to increase it and cant afford a bottle of ph acid use lemon juice by adding a few drips per litre until you get the correct reading.
You will need to buy a ph test kit.

I would say your main problem is that your mh ballast is way to far away.
I have my 400 8" above my plants after they are 2 weeks old starting of at about 24" when they are newly popped seedlings and lowering by an inch or two a day.

well then, with the placement i have now and after moving my mh down, i should be good with the lights? lol

and what about the bloodmeal/bonemeal?

Dont use any nutes untill 4 weeks of growth!...byw make sure ur mh isnt to close now!..u dont wanna cook the lil girls!

Just point your fan at the hood and the top of the plants,they will be fine

Yah do that..then put ur hand rite above the plants..if it doesnt burn the backside of ur hand then they should be good!

so my questions are:

what kind of soil should i get that would be real good?

is fox farm really as good as the hype surrounding it? and does home depot have anything that might match it, or come close enough, as the closest hydro shop to here is a good hour drive away and if i can avoid it i rather would, but if the ff is really THAT good, im down.

and should i pick up a bag of bloodmeal and a bag of bonemeal, and if i do, do i need anything else besides those two?

and is shultz rooting hormone good? its a powder and ive only seen gels so far.
