The plant still looks very unhealthy. I have just administered a 1/4 strength helping of some fertilizer I managed to find in my local store. It was on offer for £2. The fertilizer is called Doff Tomato Feed and it has an N-P-K ratio of 5:5:10. It also states on the label that the formula contains Magnesium and Trace elements.

Fingers crossed I can save the plant as I am pretty sure it is female. It would be a shame to have to wait for the new seeds to germinate and sprout in order to continue. Conversely one of the seeds has a small tap-root now and the other is just cracking.

I will upload some photos over the next couple of hours as it takes a while for me to use my video camera, import the footage and then extract single frames, as I don't have a digital camera with sufficient specifications.

As always any advise would be appreciated.

Sup uber. Just checkin out ur grow(told ya I would) Anyway, love th litllte setup u got goin, is it in the harddrive or the monitor though? Either way, looks pretty stealth. I've kinda thrown stealth out the window with my grow, i mean, it's kinda hard not to notice a 400w hps is on in the closet. Luckily though, said closet is in a room I don't really use at all(cept for growin) so it works out. Idk if they got a wal mart where u are, but i bet they do, wal marts are everywhere here in the states. But anyway, they got some cheap digital thermometers with the humidity too. They're like $6, and they'll keep track of ur daily highs and lows in temps and humidity. Just a thought. I was wonderin, though, how much did that led cost? And what soil did u end up using? I've been using scotts for a couple grows now, and when i test it, it has the same results as urs- high in N but low on P and K

Hey Richjames,

It is the Base Unit (Which is what I think you meant by hard drive) and it is fairly stealth at the moment with the exception of the external carbon filter.

Wish I could afford and accommodate a 400w HPS, you should get a great yield with that.

There are no Walmart stores in the UK, however ASDA a large supermarket chain is owned by them so I will check after Christmas. A cheap digital thermometer with humidity testing ability would be great as I have not been able to find an inexpensive device myself.

The daily high is about 79 F and the low around 68 F. I always have the heating on in the room and a window open for fresh air. There is also a desk fan in the room so the environment outside the case is circulated pretty well, with the 100mm fan handling the grow-space.

The LED price is £13.50 before delivery.

I couldn't find any soil locally and so ended up buying a plant bulb that came with some included, and just using the 1.4 L pot and the soil mixed with the Miracle-Gro pellets.

I think my problem is that the pellets are designed to release slowly, over six months. The Nitrogen is released first and then P and K later. Unfortunately due to the auto-flowering nature of the Auto AK47 it wasn't sufficient. Furthermore I believe that the lack of trace elements in the crappy soil made matters worse. Perhaps your soil does the same?

I am soldiering on however and will update with pictures later tonight.

Thanks for the advise :eyesmoke:

Unfortunately the leaves became very brittle and needed a good trim down. I have left only the healthiest leaves on the plant. I know it will probably stress the plant slightly but I think it will also help let light to the whole plant and make it focus on healthy growth instead of trying to repair the previous damage...besides it was making me feel down looking at it all shrivelled and crispy.

On the plus side I have marked one of the pictures that I feel indicates the plant is female with a red square, any experienced growers care to confirm this for me? At the very least its not dead yet

I will add more updates soon, I have just finished sorting through the photos, and now you can see what remains of my first plant:

Yeah I did read that somewhere before buying it, but I failed to realise that it would affect my grow so significantly. I won't make that mistake next time. I will keep the grow going, any smoke it produces will be well worth the effort. I am a medicinal user, I have Severe IBS Type-A and its the only thing that helps.

GL with your grow man, its looking great already :weed:

Hope u don't mind my asking, but what is IBS? I don't use medicinally or nothin, but I can relate to ur situation. See, I met this girl a few years back when my dad passed on, and she's the one for me for sure, but anyway turns out she has cancer. Been away from her now for like three years. She's in Texas right now, she said awhile back they gave her a prescription for weed but she wont smoke it. It's a fucked up world sometimes, but no matter what happens, u just gotta keep on goin.

I tried to see about the sex of ur plant in the pic, but it's too small and far away for me to tell u personally. Idk if u've grown before and know what ur lookin for or not, but a female will show 2 WHITE HAIRS in the beginning of flowering, if it looks like a seed then it usually is. Once u've been flowering for a week or more u should notice them showing up pretty much everywhere. But if there's any doubt, just wait it out till it's obvious or take some closer pics and I can probly tell ya long as it's not too early ya know. I'm hopin I don't gotta worry about males this time around since I got feminized seeds, $50 bucks(u.s.) for 5 after shipping! Anyway like i said I'll be around, good luck with EVERYTHING.

Hey richjames,

IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, it is a chronic dysfunction of the lower intestine. In the most common cases the patient feels mild discomfort, while some can have more extreme symptoms. There is no cure for IBS. It is a long-term illness, but it is not fatal. It is a condition that affects quality of life. IBS is a gut disorder and is not contagious. Stress plays a major role with IBS and can increase the severity and frequency of symptoms. Food or more specifically certain food groups specific to the user may also affect the more sensitive intestine.

I have severe IBS which is type A (alternating) I am in a great deal of pain on a daily basis and experience a wide range unpleasant and often debilitating symptoms including; back pain, severe abdominal pain, loss of appetite, migraines, ringing ears, irregular bowel habits, fatigue, tiredness and anxiety among many others. I am also a full-time student and find my lifestyle very stressful which in turn increases the severity of my symptoms.

I was diagnosed in the summer after delaying my doctors visit for a long time, in fear that I had bowel cancer. I had known there was something wrong with me for a long time. I had six blood-tests and the doctor prescribed me some painkillers and sent me on my way. The pain killers numbed the pain for a while but I had to take the maximum dosage every day for just a slight temporary relief, also the pills did nothing for any of the numerous other symptoms.

In retrospect I was 15 or 16 when I started to develop IBS symptoms, which I ignored at the time because my doctor said I was experiencing 'post-viral fatigue', something which many other IBS sufferers have been told before they were properly diagnosed.

I started to smoke, then smoke weed not long after. It seemed to make me feel better, not just high but physically better.

When I started college I cut down on what I smoked and the symptoms started to reappear, again I ignored it but was very worried that I had bowel cancer. I managed to get through college and met my wonderful girlfriend of three years and three months there. I love her with all my heart.

Now at University and officially diagnosed with IBS I self medicate as the prescribed medications are not effective enough.

The herb does wonders, it really does, however the cost is more than I can afford hence the grow. Hopefully once I get my fingers green enough I can save myself money and have enough of a harvest to keep me going.

I'm sorry to hear about what you have been through man, I feel for you. You defo have the right attitude it is a fucked up world sometimes, but no matter what happens, u just gotta keep on goin

Now back to my grow, see you around :bigjoint:

Hey everyone,

I am now certain that it is definitely a female I can see pistils in a number of places, however the stem has broken and most of the leaves are dead and pruned off...gonna keep it going for now anyway and hope for the best. I have four seeds in an unheated propagator which will go into the grow-space when sprouted.

Will update properly asap, with new photos so check back soon .

:o Ur not supposed to chop down the females uber! LOL>>. Seriously, what happend, how'd it get choppped?
LOL Hey richjames :)

Sorry for the late reply but I have been very ill this last month.

I was trimming the thing trying to get rid of the ugly dried up leaves, it was looking in bad shape at this point, and as the stem was weak and damaged it snapped as I was cutting a leaf

Luckily a new sprout took its place and I will update with pics shortly.

Gonna check your journal as well, bet it looks awesome:weed:

Anyways thanks for stopping, take it easy man.

Hey,

Just a quick update today, as it is now 06:37am here.

The new plant has been under 24/7 LED light since day 1, though I will be changing over to a 20 watt 2700k CFL soon which will suffice until I get a 100-150 watt bulb.

There is some minor damage to one of the leaves in the form of a small hole, and white residue. I believe this was caused when I foliar fed it a few days ago with a solution that was to strong, I have since diluted it closer to quarter the recommended dose and administer every few days or so.

The plant is not showing sex as of yet, hopefully it is female.

The temperature inside the case with the LED:

High: 74.8 F
Low: 58.8 F

Humidity: Unknown

As promised here are the pics, though they haven't been white balanced or edited at all, enjoy and return often as I plan to update more frequently from now on.

PS. Ignore the labels on the images the plant is on day 20 not 27 LOL

ONCE AGAIN NEWB's - LED's are a form of LASER LIGHT and don't have the spectral quality plants need nor do they have a Kelvin temperature rating. And for YOU PEOPLE that have always wanted to try LED's - DO YOU NOT READ?? (The forums here)
