that was one of the hardest to read posts i've ever seen but from what i gather you bought flourescent tube lighting? and you want to stretch your plant? from my experience ive never seen anyone grow anything with tube bulbs except clones or seedlings. so i would recommend maybe a cfl if you want cheap electricity bill and a cheap bulb. otherwise HPS is good. i wouldn't recommend stretching your plant and you should keep your light id say about 6in above maybe? put your hand right above your plant and if it burns your hand then its too close if it doesn't burn it try moving it closer. if seen a plant touching a bulb and it was growing healthy.
i used 24/7 first month almost two of my current crop, you should adjust according to your plants. www.cheaphydroponics.com is a good site.

With the light cycle, it seems to be different strokes for different folks, but I use 18/6 to give the babies some time to develop a solid root system. If you are using tubes, I would recommend looking into some CFL's as well. Listen to Greenboiii420 about the distance with the lights. Trust me when i say the plant will stretch plenty during the length of the grow. It doesnt need any help with that. Plus with the LST Training, you want to keep it nice and tight for low profile. Throw up some pics and we will let you know what is what. Just remember, your first time will not be perfect, dont over do anything, be patient, and if you are unsure about something ask someone. Trust me, I botched so many things before I starting asking questions. Peace.

How many? u can have as much light as u want DONT GET GREEDY it might get u time. my suggestion if ur gonna leave them in thos pots( i would) id buy a ballast and 2X500 watt lights for all of them that would be a decent grow with little to no hassle from your hydro company
