hey guys,
so after doing a ton of research i decided to help a buddy build a pc grow box. we have slight experience from when we were younger but this is our first attempt in a few years. i cant post pics now but will do so later so u can see what it actually looks like.....
ok so first things first i got a pretty standard pc case......took everything out except for some of the housing...(couldnt do it because of the rivets and did not find out till after how to take them out) but its still pretty spacious
1) right now it has two standard computer fans one blowing in and one blowing out....... smell is a concern so i was thinking about adding a layer of carbon filter on the end as ive read it solves both those problems......i also bought a third fan, a larger one that will be attached to the side..... its 90cfm and that was the highest they had at the store....additionally i added the carbon layer before putting it on but i noticed it greatly reduces the amount of air the fan blows out (but that was expected)
2) we then tin foiled the whole thing (i kno it can cause heat spots so on my next one i planning on using the thin aluminum insulation or just paint it white) we covered most of the holes except behind the two fans so there is very little light leakage
3) after that i attached a power bar running horizontally to the top of the case. right now i only have two bulbs on there because i feared that three would make things too hot......both bulbs are flourescent and are daylight equivelant 13w=60w and produce 900 lumens each ( this is one thing im not sure about im not sure if the bulbs are producing enough luminens......additionally the two fans were stripped and connected to phone chargers also attached to the power bar (i thought this would be better because now only one wire, the power bar, comes out of the case)
4) so my buddy had two kush seeds which had been in water for about a week or two and both cracked.....we werent sure whether or not they would grow but we planted them anyway.....we used the bottom half of two water bottles............that was two days ago and nothing has happened at this point so its doubtful they will grow
5) next we went down to the seed shop and bought a pack of 5 feminized cheese seeds for 130cdn!!
i know its cheaper to buy online but this method was just safer for us as we have been kind of paranoid lol.....but yeah so we put one seed in water (tap water......i kno i kno) but its been about 36 hours and has not cracked.........we only did one because they are so expensive but will probably put the other four in when i finish making the second pc box.....
so yeahthats pretty much were we are progress has stopped.... i kno its hard to really visualize without the pics but i promise they are coming.......anyways ive been using this site for research and have already gained alot of knowledge in a very short time...im really looking forward to the advice of experienced growers......any feedback would be appreciated....
