ok well ive started my first serious grow project and all is well for now.i do not have a camera yet but I have 6 plants growing, they are on their third set of leaves and are about 3 weeks old.im using a 400w hps that i got for very cheap and apart from that i havent begun any serious fertilizing besides a 1/10 strength fertilizer added the other day because i thought there may have been a nitrogen deficiency.not sure tho.im using regular potting soil and the light is about 2'4" from the plants.i also have my fan blowing during the 18 hours of light. here are some pics i found at RIU with plants that have the same symptoms as mine

Okay, my plants are now 1 week older and i found my problem. I checked the bottoms of my containers(dont kno why i didnt earlier) and the roots were growing through the bottom holes and there was a film of white fuzzy mold. i went and bought more dirt but couldnt use it because it was frozen(the stores garden section is outside and its 10 degrees right now). the next day i filled a large plastic tub with dirt about 3/4 of the way and broke the bottom 1/3 off the pots and placed the bottom of the rootball in some holes in the dirt. so far they appear to be doing better and growth seems to have resumed. ill prolly have pics up next week.

if you are using 400w the light range should be 18 to 24 in away, 24 being the farthest. i keep mine at about 18 - 19 in and have fans blowing on the light and plants

Well ts been another week, still no camera but, i now have 2 plants (i think they're mostly sativa) growing rather rapidly in the last couple of days and one i believe to be indica that is growing almost as fast. they all slowed growth after my transplant but all appears good now.The rest completely stopped growing.im still holding hope for one but i think its days are numbered.but the plants are about 4 1/2 weeks old and i lowered the light a little which increased growth speed so all seems well........ happy growing

Okay, its been another week andmy plants are goin great with one exception. i just topped my two largest and began fertilizing on all but 1 of them. I also had a pet problem and one of my dogs ripped alot of leaves off of one of my smaller plants. Someof the leaves wer drooping but the problem seems to have gone away and they perked back up. but alls well so far. im thinkin beginning flowering in March.

okay, one more week growth seems to have doubled .ill have pics up tomorrow or the next.ive tied down some of the taller grow shoots to help expose the inner partof the plants(its a bit of a canopy now). The plant that was damaged is beginning to grow again the plant is actually still using the ripped leaves for photosynthesis. I think ill start flowering march 1st

since i only have two plants flowering right now i keep my two about 4 to 5 inches from my 400w, but then again my flowering room is like sixty degrees.
the root problem happened to me too, actually the ones i broke the bottom of the pot off and put that in more dirt like you fared the worst of all of my plants, the ones i transplanted are flourishing though. when i throw my next set of seeds in the dirt im going to put a layer of newspaper at the bottom with maybe a quarter inch of cleaned gravel rocks and see if that solves the problem

Yea they're gettin pretty massive. My smaller plants buds are gettin so large that they're saggin . Blaze it sounds like that setup should be fine. Im think abt harvest a lil after 420. Kinda sux i wont be able to enjoy it on the big day
