First Grow- Purple Punch Outdoor

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share how my first grow is going since my Purple Punch is flowering

I first bought her as a clone on 5/23, and started indoor under a ghetto light set up for a few weeks while she was hardening off to the outdoor light. My cat totally FIM'd it when I had it inside and he took a big snack off the top. I swear that's why there are so many budsites haha.

They are in 6 gallon pots buried underground with a mixture of black magic potting soil & coco coir with a top dressing of some organic stuff I got from a friend. I've been using the basic fox farm liquid nutrients trio (Big Bloom, Grow Big, & Tiger Blood). I'm sure the roots have made their way out of the pot and into the ground now though haha.

I think she's been flowering for about a month now, so I estimate maybe a month longer until harvest.

What do you guys consider the start of flowering? When pistils start coming out of the stems or when they're actually coming out of the tops of the bud sites?

Even with being fed a bit of nitrogen she is yellowing, but the sugar leafs and buds look awesome and have green growth so I'm not sure if I should be concerned. You can see she's much lighter in color than my Sour Diesel x Lemon Kush clone which is just starting fo flower.

Stoked for my first harvest!

You using cal mag or Epsom salts at all?

I haven’t but I’ve seen a ton of people recommending those on here though. Maybe I should check that out.

Yeah some times 1sp per gallon of Epsom salts is all that it takes to green them up. Outdoor plants use alot of magnesium to photosynthesize.

I’ve been reading that cal mag is a better choice than Epsom salts so I might go with that. Do they do the same thing?

Yeah. I've never had a calcium deficiency though so I just stick with Epsom salts. If you don't have calcium in your soil calmag may do you some good.

Are you in Colorado, cause I've seen the Purple Punch strain a lot lately where I get my clones? I'm not a fan of Grow Big, or Tiger Bloom though. I like to stick to organics to keep my microbes happy. I still have a bottle of Tiger Bloom I bought before I realized it was full of chemicals. The Big Bloom is the only one that I think is organic. But lots of people use it, I just want to keep my soil alive as possible. Organics aren't as fast acting though. Beautiful plants though man.

If any is synthetic, might as well go with cal-mag and cover your bases, I always used it with GH bloom and micro on indoor grows. Check your labels though, most time there's no need for the grow nutes for nitrogen.

Nah I’m in Northern CA. Purple punch does seem to be super popular but for good reason, it knocks me right out haha.

I think you might be right about Big Bloom being the only OMRI certified one out of the fox farm trio. I just found out my local hardware store has a ton of nutrient products which I’ll check out next year for sure.

Just bought some cal mag. Can I just mix this in with my regular liquid nutrients?

yup, I use it with my fox farm regiment as well

FF Big Bloom is organic. Tiger Bloom is not a cert'd product. I use both for my outdoor grows, and I find it is an amazing mix from flower to harvest.

Use it on my tomatoes too.
