Hello to all, I am a new member here and currently starting my first grow. This will be my second attempt. My first attempt the plants barely 1 week old died due to my mistake in buying a cheap $1 rooting soil. Wouldnt hold any water. LMAO. Good beginner lesson learned. I build a stealth grow box out of a 30gal. Rubbermaid container. I have a total of about 2.5 square feet to work with and about 1.5 feet of height. So I'm a little space limited....My temps stay consistant around 75-80%, with about 33-36% humidity. I'm using temporary fans from walmart for intake/exhaust until I can get some pc/case fans. They work fine for now. The inside of Rubbermaid container is lined with car window reflector material. It definantaly reflects a lot of light. Here are my details of my grow, along with my grow cab and my fresh girls (I hope). Only a few days old.

STRAIN: Unknown killer bag seed
LIGHTS: Veg - 4x27 watt 5500k cfl's Flower - 6x27 watt 2700k cfl's, 2x27 watt 5500k cfl's (216 actual watts--6,400 lumens per sq. ft.!!!)
SOIL: MG Organic Choice--yes I know so many ppl are against MG, but I have seen badass grows when you know how to use the soil correctly. 50/50 mix perlite/MG, with 1 Tbsp dehydrated lime for ph. ( soil def. holds water more, and is clumpy)
POTS: Still deciding. They are germing in 16oz. party cups due to my previous idea of SOG usinn 2 week veg then flower with 6-8plants in my grow area. A good micro SOG. Will prolly go 1.5L.
NUTES: Veg - No nutes for 2-4 weeks due to the N in the MG Organic. Just distilled water. Will let plants tell me when they are hungry for more. Will add in Schultz Plant Food Plus Micro-nutrients (10-15-10) at 1/4 strength, and Fish Emulsion (5-1-1) at 1/8 strength. Building up strength.
Flower - First 2 weeks I will use Shultz Plant Food again at 1/2 strength, building to full strength. When plant shows preflowers, will weed out males then give give females first 1/4 strength nute mix using Shchultz Bloom Plus Plant Food (10-54-10), 1/4 strength Fish Emulsion (to provide a bit more nitrogen since veg will more than likely be shorter. and molasses will be used 1 Tbsp./gal of water every other watering alternating with nute mix.

GROWING METHOD: Been back and forth on this one due to height restrictions, approximately 1.25ft) First thought was 2 week veg then 12/12, but I think I may try 2-3 plants (4 would be great if I could fit them) in a LST Scrog. With using cfl's due to light penetration, I figure this is the best chance with my amount of space and lighting to yield maximum yield. Will build a reflector come flower time to house all 8 cfls. With 12,800 lumens in that small space, and being able to get the lights 1-2" from the plants, I should (hopefully) be able to get decent results for my first grow. Need help on pot size for my goals and size...26" L x 14" depth....1.5L?

Enough of the boring stuff. Here is some pictures...only day 2 so nothing too exciting...2/3 seeds have sprouted that I have germed, still germing some more, to increase female chance......BY THE WAY: ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME WOULD BE TO VEG SAY 6-8 SMALL PLANTS IN SCROG STYLE, WEED OUT MALES THEN TRANSPLANT FEMS INTO BIGGER POTS? TOO MUCH TROUBLE IN A SCROG TO DO THIS? I THINK I KNOW A WAY TO DO IT WITHOUT MESSING THE SCROG GROW, ONLY SWITCHING POTS, THE IDEA OF SUSPENDING MY PLANTS, ROOTS AND ALL AND THEN JUST PUTTING ANOTHER POT UNDER THEM???

Will post pics later tonight, charging my camera batteries.

But any info on the sexing question or pot size?

here are pics I said I would post...first is of my complete grow cab...budget build too. About $150 for everything I needed from germ to harvest.

Here are my plants on Day 1 from sprout. One has sprouted, and the other is pokeing its white root up out of the soil. I'm guessing tomorrow I'll have a nice surprise, Use seran wrap to create a humidity dome for seedlings. BTW. how long should you use humidity dome for seedlings?

Heres my sprout at Day 3. It got stuck with the name Melissa...only hoping, lol.

Also, to show what I decided to do, I put my germed seeds in there so they can poke through the soil. Decided since its bag seed and my first grow I decided best to germ 12-15 plants in there, 2 week veg, flower, pull males, then LST the remaining females. After I harvest my first grow successfully, I'm gonna upgraded, lights, soil, and nutes, and order some fem seeds. Just don't want to grow a couple males for 2 months, and waste all that time.

Just an update. Not really anyone following my grow, so I'm gonna do it for me, regardless. If someone wants to pop in, all is welcome.

Day 5 today, I now have 8 sprouts that came up, 6 of them over night. Waiting on the last 3 to pop up. My oldest is 5 days old and is growing quiet quickly. Its starting to develop its 2nd set of spiked leaves.

Here are some updated pictures...
All 8 sprouts...

Have 4 cfl's on them now...seemed to help with the sprouting by adding some more.

My oldest working on her 2nd set of leaves.

First time this has happened to me...the sprout still has the shell on it..anyone know if it will naturally shed it?

Feel free to comment

Shells sometimes hang on for a while. It should pop off on its own, but if it's really having trouble you can give it some help.

Yeah, I heard someone else talking about it before. Its only the first day since it popped up. I was gonna give it an extra day or two and see if it sheds it. Only giving them about 2 weeks then into flower

Just updating today. I have 10 out of 11 sprouts so far. The 11th is starting to push through the soil, and I expect it to show tomorrow. The oldest is 1 week today and is starting to show its 2nd set spikes leaves.

I only have 108w of CFL's on them right now. I will add 2 more, then start lst on them with they show their 4th nodes. I will pull the males after the pre-sex and flower the females. Not much worried about yield on this grow. Just basics and some LST practice.

Here are all the sprouts together.

And heres my oldest one. A week old today..

Threw this one in because its only about 4 days old, but it seems to be growing the fastest, and looks the healthiest.

Stay tuned, I should be LST'ing in a week and a half or 2 weeks from now.

Just a quick update...Day 9. Just a group shot and a shot of the oldest. Most are working on their 2nd set of leaves now. About to add more lights and hang the power strip horizontal so I can manage the light coverage better.

Just another update. I'm putting so many pictures, because I'm doing a day-by-day, and in the end it will be a slide show showing sprout to harvest. Heres Day 10 Update.

I think its Indica!!

Hey everyone, just a quick update. Day 12 today, I changed my setup to allow better light coverage. Its not done, a 2nd strip will be added on the other side so that there is maximum light coverage. Just waiting on 3 more socket-outlet adapters. Also noticed, a slight problem with one of the leaves on one of my plants (I THINK ITS ANOTHER INDICA!!!) The edges of one of the leaves is yellow...any thoughts? My oldest has a lot of leaves for only being 1" tall...hope it stays short and stocky.

On to the Pics....

My new setup..will add another strip and 3 more lights on the other side...

This is why I changed it....these temps hold stable 90% of the time with about 10% fluctuation during lights off...I love it

My oldest..getting bushy for 1" tall no?

This is my problem plant. The only one out of 11 plants to show it, and its only on 1 leaf. Any idea?

My new setup....

13 days...

11 days...

10 days...

Just an update. Got pretty bad nute burn on 4 or 5 of them, but had MG Organic causing me too many problems. I switched them to a custom mix I made using outdoor soil. A lot of them were burnt pretty bad but they are starting to all heal and grow a lot better in the new soil. Heres a few pictures.

I'm going to let nature do its course and let them heal for a few days before I update them again.

Just wanted to chime in about growing from seeds to a screen. I wanted to use that method at the start of my grow. But from what I've been able to gather on the intrawebnet, having to cull out the males from the SCROG later in the grow can be problematic.

However, I still think it may be viable to do (even if not ideal), and couldn't find any information saying it would lead to dooming the grow. So I am still interested in trying it with a future grow.

Keep me updated if you try it, and I'll do the same!

I was thinking about trying that, but I thought the same thing about removing the males. I would use a lot of unwasted space. So I am just going to let them veg for a while and top them and LST them. Then males will be picked out, and that would leaves more light for the remaining females, and better able to put them in the perfect place.

DAMN MAN I FEEL BAD!!! know ones following u...ILL help you in ur journey as long as you help me!!! Check out my grow!!!...Im pretty experienced just new to this site!!! So first tip for ya is you used nutrients wayyyy to early if you did bc that shouldnt have happened to a newborn...i use MG also...Wait till the plant is about a month and a half old b4 feeding anything...i promise this will work in so many ways...Also dont water as much and the plants will grow faster((sounds dumb I kno))
1.Your plants roots will expand searching for water and nutes in the soil which will cause the roots to reach further down which is a good thing!!!
2. Lots of ROOTS is a good thing((look it up))

Also your seedlings look dull from the day you started like the leaves are slumped over!!! try not watering so much!!! That may have been the problem with your first grow bc NO SOIL unless infected with mold fungus and bugs will kill a plant that fast!!! Just take your time!!! When its your first harvest you tend to baby your plants and do to much for it which kills you in the long run!!!! MONEY and TIME-wise!!! think about it
