First Grow Setup!! Any Advice or Opinions! thanks!

This is my first grow so please any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks Everyone!!

What I Have:

Light is G8LED 900watt
Fox Farms trio nutes
Ph up/down and water tester and soil tester
I am Using Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil
Tent is 4'x2 1/2' x6'
440 CFM carbon filter and exhaust
I am starting out with Clones, 2 Girl Scout Cookies and 2 Trainwreck.

Welcome to RIU, and the wonderful world of cultivating the world's most misunderstood and feared medicines!!!

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. And remember anyone may have a well-known member status…but that means they have posted and responded to many threads and does not always mean well-educated growerz. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!

Do a search using your current question as the keyword(s) and ZOOOM!! Like Wonka's Great Glass Elevator…off you go to tons of threads answering all your questions. Read all the Newbie Central stickies and learn…

Soaking up all that information and sifting through it, is going to take time. You will likely finish your first grow by then. Viola! grow complete and education well under way.

IMHO the FFOF soil is pretty hot for freshly rooted clones and seedlings. But, a lot of growerz swear by it so I am not going to say it is not a good choice. What I will say is that you will not need to use any of the trio nutes until 3-4 weeks in. Also , be careful with the fox farms nute schedule...if followed to the letter and with the FFOF soil...you will burn the shit out of your gurlz. When I start my feeding I start at 1/4 strength dose and build from there by 1/4 dose every other feeding. In my current grow I am using FF Happy Frog with 30% perlite. I am at day 38 and just went into flowering today. I only gave my gurlz one 1/4 dose feeding of the Big Bud and the Grow Big in the whole veg cycle. Also, FF soils are lacking in Ca and Mg so you may want to get some CalMag.

Pretty cool stealth set up you got there. Are you venting the fan and filter out of the grow tent?

Thanks for the reply!! I have been researching a lot but i still have a ways to go! I used the FFOF because many growers I know swear by it as well. I will definitely slowly give my girls the nutes 1/4 strength and work my way up!

Is CalMag a liquid nutrient?

I wanted to start off in a stealthy tent for a few harvests until i feel totally confident with growing and taking care of my plants. Then i am planning on turning my guest room into a full grow room.

I will be venting the fan and filter out of the tent i just wanted to lay it out and see how i wanted everything to sit before i cut the ducting and install. I didn't realize how large the carbon filter would be lol.

What do you think about that LED light? I've read a lot of reviews on it so i decided to go ahead and get it vs an HID light for energy reasons and heat issues. I am starting out with clones and hoping to at least get 1/2 oz per plant.

CalMag is a liquid and should be readily available wherever you got the soil and nutes. As for LED, never used it myself. But I have researched and the general consensus amongst the LED growerz seems to be DIY is better than manufactured. There is a whole sub-forum dedicated to LED users here.

As for a 1/2 ounce per plant dry...you my friend could be in for a very pleasant surprise in a few months. I have a 36"W X 20"D X 62"H tent and even when I only had 250W HID I still pulled 1.5-2 ounces per plant. If you do this right...yeah you'll be doing the happy dance...:bigjoint:
