First Grow, Turning out a million times better than i could of hoped for.

First off, Please Subscribe! this will be updated at least once a week with many pictures of nodes, room, and individual plants and strains.

So, ive got about a 59"x39" space. with a 400w MH
Lights are at 18/6
Temp when on:75
Temp when off:60
RH: 40-60

I am using the full FoxFarm nutrient setup every other watering, started in jiffy pots, put those in the foxfarm potting soil. Growth of about 1-2cm outwards and .5cm upwards a day. 4 Sour Diesel, 2 Cheese, 2 Pineapple kush, 2 Blue Goo, 6 Mystery seeds from trimming at my friends farm last season.

First of all, do you guys think that light is powerful enough? i havnt figured out which ones are male/female yet. too soon, when i do im guessing that will go from 16 plants to about 8-10 (if im lucky)

My ballast only supports 400w and i dont want to spend the money for a new one unless i really have to... ive put almost 700$ into this. dont want to reach 1000 lol.


So that's my setup, im hoping the reflectors can make up for the extra 6" i need on each side. every single plant has amazing growth. only a few of the sour d's are sensitive to the fertilizers. got a tiny bit of spotting on the leaves, the rest are just basking in the guano and earthworm castings from the nutes.

Mid summer, the weather where i am will let me take them outside for the end of the flowering.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Or any strong opinions on my lighting setup?

i heard that, way better setup than my first attempt. your light is fine.

Your plants are looking fine.

I grow with 400 watt and get awesome buds. My space is close to yours.

When you sex them, you might want to consider going 12/12 at that time. Growing 8 or 6 plants in that size space may be limiting if you veg your plants too long.

Good Luck with the Sour Diesel ! My buds from the last grow are still awesome, stinky, dank, moist, can't get enough of it.

ya, i was planning on going 12/12 when they get about 20-24 inches tall...
If im doing the math right, if they are 24" tall, they should be about 18" wide
(useing the golden ratio of nature 1.66/1)
and if i have 3 rows, that makes about 54-60" across and about the same backwards.
only the first part of the flowering stage will be under the lights. at about 30-36" i am moving them outside.
with my fence, i get a perfect 12/12 in mid to late June.

I want plants i end up dreaming about for months after the grow

And i personally picked the seeds from the plant of my choice for all except the mysteries.
the colas on the 8ft outdoor versions were about 18" tall and about 5" wide.
Cant wait for my results.

I will be fimming about 50%of them. an even split for all the different strains to see the difference. height is not really a factor for me unless they decide to grow 3 ft in a month lol

I will be posting individual strain growth pictures weekly. at first, it was just for myself to watch the changes, but i figured other people would like it too ^_^
These have been under the lights now for 5 days.
The beginning of their life i was working on getting a setup, and they were being brought inside every night, and brought outside at the crack of dawn.

Just bought a Jack Herrer Clone from the clinic in lake Tahoe. its taller than the rest, but at least i know its guaranteed female

So, here's a small update
I am following the FF Schedule, but my leaves are starting to curl up on a dew of my plants.

EX:
It is bending towards the light. it might just be a smart plant. not sure. I need an opinion other than my own.

and i added that Jack Herrer clone to the bunch. its already a foot tall from the clinic. so i put it on the end where the reflector is not blocking the light. and i also rotate it mid day. will that effect it negatively? cause once i sex my plants, there will be more room, and this will be still taller than the rest, can i keep it at the open end of the hood to get that extra light?

I reorganized them to fit the 4'x4' for my light. onl a few inches outside that width wise.

Is my lighting still okay?

Aaaand, My plants are beginning to look like mushrooms. not growing much taller. seems to be growing about 3 times faster in width. is this normal at this height? (about 4"-7")

Other than that, things seem to be going great. just waiting for the sexing... that will improve my room situation immensely.

I use FF and in from my own experience I go VERY lightly on week 2-3 schedule. I mix it full strength as suggested but I dilute it at least by half when I use it. Maybe go lightly for a week or two and see if you have any improvement.

Wow- Thanks for the kind words in your message! Your grow is coming right along- though like I said- I would back off on the Grow Big (especially) I find that my ladies do just fine on the week 1 schedule until they go into flowering. I skip weeks 2,3,4 completely. In the past as soon as I would change them over to 'Week 2' they would immediately show signs of stress. I use a soil mix of FFoF and Roots Organics.
I'm a 400W user. I use 1x400W MH in veg and I use 2x400W HPS in flowering. I'm a believer in FF soluble 3 pack. It's pricey but you saw the bubblegum! I just follow the schedule all the way through but I always dilute by half. It's better to use less and see what your plants can handle than to use full strength and burn the shit out of them. I'm subscribed! Hopefully your beautiful plants will be ladies!!

So your saying no grow big at all during veg? the only ones who haven't liked it so far are my Sour D's. they get spotting. the others are dark green, with thick leaves (with humdity at 30 so its just growth).

And ya, cant wait to find out which are male or female... I have the perfect amount of space for 8 5' tall plants.
And i only have a 400w ballast, that has the cord integrated into the box. so i cant replace the socket or add another. can i do flowering with a 400w HPS (100$ one)? or do i have to buy a new ballast (dont want to if i dont have to...)

AAaaand, i am useing pure FFoF soil... is that gonna be bad on drainage? i figured that FFoF is made for weed. with the wording on their products, they must know who 90% of their customer base is. so i didnt add perlite.

I actually do thing your plants look fine. I notice my strains- specifically the Red Dragon- gets easily overfertilized. I would keep doing what your doing but if you find that their health is declining then my recommendation would be to nix the Grow Big.

Yes you need a new ballast to run an HPS unless you purchase a switchable ballast. In that case you will just need to switch the bulb.

Just keep an eye on the drainage. Personally I use rocks at the bottom of my buckets for better drainage. You might want to take a trip to the Home Depot and buy some Pea Pebbles or gravel (cheaper than perlite)- make sure you wash them off though.

Okay, then i will be buying a 600w Ballast. 2 isnt needed for a 5x4 space is it?
And whats a good ballast for around 200$?

So there are a few problems im starting to realize... I need to step it up to 600w for HPS... but im already at 80 degrees with a 400w MH... and ive heard that 600w HPS will raise the temp about 15 degrees or more. I do not have good ventilation, and can only afford about 300 for a new ballast and the hortilux bulb. i can not afford an exhaust hood... anything i can do? is there a nutrient that will make them stronger vs. heat?

And if i did have the money for the exhaust setup, i only have 1 11"/11" window in the room, so i could only suck in air or blow out air... the other opening is the door...

These are all 1 month from popping out of the ground (except the jack clone)

For the first week of their life they were under sunlight, then moved them into a newly built grow room (On top of a large bathtub)

My first attempt at FIMming... is is supposed to regrow those leaves?
