In the future, I do want to invest in an HPS.
It looks like the big one is a boy. Boys drool. :-(
I definitely see balls.
The smaller one, we'll see.
I have clones coming, from what this dude calls "Hindu." I don't care what it's called - I've smoked it and it is divine.
Thank you again, for all of the advice. I added another light to the side, to get the undergrowth, and I'm really excited about starting again, now that I've got a sort-of handle on the CFLs system.

:-)

Updates:

Large plant is a rotten, stinking, drooling, boogery boy. He went down the garbage disposal and I used his leaves to take some fetish photos.

Smaller plant is receiving all of the light and I see buddage. I've been away from my home for the weekend, so I'll see what has happened over that time, later this evening.

I am getting some clones from a friend. I've got the giant pot already full of dirt.

your right, male plants suck balls...well some growers would love to take em off your hands cuz they grow for the genetics

at least this way more light gets to your other plant

good luck with the clones, what dirt you using for clones

get some pics up when you can

I just got back from a weekend away, and holy moly this chick is hairy. It already looks 10x better than the crap weed from which I pulled the seed!

The desk lamp is now turned upside-down to light from the bottom.
I do realize that the lamps are a bit far from the plant. They are hanging by bungee cords, which makes me nervous, but since they look even farther away when I look at the photo, I think I'm going to go mess with them now.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...

Ah, and as for the dirt for the clones, I'm using Miracle Grow seed starter mix, but I am planning on getting a cheap pH meter (I have aquarium tests, but...) to better control it.

THANKS!

OMG, it looks so much better now, than it did in those photos. The small groups of hair/buds are touching now.
I'm seeing brown tips on the leaves - over fertilization?
I'm watering with plain aquarium water, no ferts, to counteract the apparent burn.
The hairs are still translucent, but getting more dense and long.
There are two fat, distinct main colas.
It's starting to stink a wee bit, especially when I'm close, whispering sweet nothings to it.
Photos to come asap.
I have no idea at what *date* I should expect maturity, but after combing through the extremely non-specific thread titles (I think when a forum member starts a thread, he/she has a responsibility to the organization of the overall forum to give that thread a helpful title, especially when there are thousands just like it entitled, 'I hope this is a good thread,' and extra-especially when more 'mature' members flip out when someone asks a question before trying to weed through these heaps of vaguely-entitled threads - oh I'm sorry, did I express a lengthy opinion/observation there...? LOL.), I have gleaned that I should be looking for amber hairs.

So yeah. Wake/bake/shower time.

haha awesome nice clones to!! my opinon id say drop the lights as close as you can id say about at least an inch away or a little more from your babys if its one thing i learned they respond well to close lighting. i got my one daylight almost touching it enough space inbetween to fit my one finger lol and they love it i just keep an eye on it as much as possible and raise the lights as they come along. def. gonna eye your grow could be exciting :0

Things I already know:

My plant is a mutilated, no-leaf freak, and I think I'm ok with that.

Burns at the ends of older leaves were from using Miracle Grow (I just started using Fox Farm's "Big Bloom")

Soon after using the Big Bloom, a rage of new white hairs burst up from the white/orange bunches.

Things about which I have very little clue:

When to harvest. I'm so paranoid I'm going to miss the peak and end up with something like other weed I've smoked - it looks fabulous, but it smokes like garbage.

ALSO. The past week, the plant has been REEEEEKING. It had been getting progressively more strong, even with air purifiers, fan, and open window. Yesterday, however, the smell started to decrease. Maybe I'm immune by now (which I doubt), but even the closet smells much less strong.

Thoughts? Critique?

Thank you!

The best way to figure out when it's harvest time is by the trichomes (crystals). I usually don't even start looking at mine until around half of the pistils (hairs) are orange, then I'll start watching the trichomes. The color of the trich's go from clear, to cloudy, to amber. Harvesting when they're mostly clear and some cloudy will give you more of a head/clear high. Harvesting when trichomes are a few clear, mostly cloudy, and some amber is a pretty good all around buzz. Harvesting when trich's are some cloudy and most of the others amber, will give you that stoney/couch lock feeling. If you want to be positive on when to harvest, I suggest getting a 15X eye loupe or one of these - Illuminated Microscope - RadioShack.com . They are like $13 at Radio Shack.

Thank you, again and again. Those were my plans, after reading other posts about maturity. My bf's a science teacher, so I'm going to steal from the children for marijuana. I think she has at least a full month yet, but I won't be sure until I see the trichs up close.

Looking good Wave,

Remember my cfl post?
This is what more light looks like.

I just had a bug problem, but you can really see the difference light does.
I finished the previous plant with a 400w and the bud quality is substantial/

Tight nuggs, way stonier.
I'm super new to this and just wanted to share.

Another thing ,
It will look ready, and when it does Give it another week.
Ive thought ready and watched them swell twice in size.

Great job so far though. Just keep on letting them do their thing. Dont get to excited till you see cloudy trics.
It will be normal for some yellowing. and you will notice it darken some. I think you're right on about the month.

Oh yeah here comes the stinky.
At this part I use some Ona gel in a bucket with the moisten pellet things. It helps mask some odor. Smells Super Good.
Peace and good luck
-Joe

*sigh*
Joe, It's too bad I can't send you more rep. points.

Until further notice, my baby has FUNGUS! I have beneficial bacteria for my aquarium, so I'm putting a little in the soil, then knocking on Harvest Moon's door at 11am to get some Serenade (from another helpful RIU post).

THANK YOU - your plants look ecstatic with all of that light!

State of affairs:

1. Top of mold-showing cola has been snipped.
2. Waiting for darkness to apply "Safer Brand"'s sulfur spray.
3. Looking up recipes for "butane hash."
4. ONA block is FAN-FUCKULOUS. It provided IMMEDIATE results, and not just in the way of pleasant aroma - I cannot smell weed in here, and it's all over my hands (even after washing) from snipping the mold-bud.

THANK YOU!

UPDATE:

2nd day of sulfur spray - NO FUZZ!

Need a stronger magnifier. I could only see my hairs very closely...I'm going to need a microscope.

1. "Safer" is just a brand name. That shit burned parts of my buds to a brown crisp, after I followed the instructions to the letter and applied it immediately after the lights went out for the evening.
2. I let the plant go for a few weeks after the treatment, checking with the microscope from Radio Shack (best $12 I ever spent).
3. The poor girl has been cut, dried, and is curing right now. I've smoked some prematurely, and other than the unripe/toasty taste and a slight chemical feel, it's ok.
4. I have learned so much, through experience and research (the kind of research you are forced to do thoroughly because you are going through the experience), that all I can think about is my next grow. For the sh1tty weed from which I got this seed, my plant looked absolutely beautiful (at one point). I pay a little more in electricity, but I also run a 55 gallon aquarium and the works for a red-eyed tree frog habitat, so that's what I get for being a nature whore. The 4 cfls I have in there, coupled with reflective surfaces, were enough to grow this plant quite nicely. Therefore, I am excited to see what happens when I close the gaps in my husbandry.
LESSONS:
Ventilation will go a long way in PREVENTING mold, so I don't have to REMEDY it later.
Ona block and a carbon filter are my shining lights in a sea of stinky arrested-ness.
Keep the plant extremely close to the lights, from seedling to adult (I was experimenting with lighting during the seedling stage.).
Neem oil is the only "medicinal" additive I should be adding.
KEEP RECORDS. I had to guess regarding vegetative and flowering times, let alone the mind-spin when it came time for harvest. A simple calendar will make my life so much easier.
Use fresh potting soil, because I lost a few seedlings to stem rot (I don't want to risk that with an expensive seed.).

I can't think of any more right now, but I have a narrowed-down list of 2 that I want to try next: Strawberry cough is a definite, because I've smoked it before; Pineapple Express, for the sheer thrill of the fantasy, reviews of the smoke and the grow journals I've seen; Barney's Utopia Haze, for the reviews I've read. Chocolope fell off my list, for the reviews of the smoke.

So I will post photos of the cured weed, when no more can be done with it, and I will try to give a review of the smoke from this nameless weed that started off as a seedy bag from some dude I refuse to give my money to anymore (Seeds??? Seriously?....and don't you answer your phone so you can sell your shitty weed to people sometimes?).

Ah, yes, the hash. I have to use the solvent extraction method, because I'm making use of the molded weed too, and I will not play with butane. It's ground to a powder and soaking in alcohol right now, and I think I'll make a project out of it tomorrow after work. Maybe pics, just for the messy fun of it.

:-*

I cant wait to see what you have been up too. Im almost done too. I had a horrific time with bugs and almost lost my whole crop. Every leaf fell off. And I have absolutely no smell. I have to literally shove a bud in my nose to smell it.
