Hey people, new on this site and to growing, so hi! XD Me and my pal are setting up a grow in our new apartment, we were thinking for space and conveniance purposes is to do an NFT Grow, we are willing to put time into it and have done our research, we plan to buy this (http://www.growforce.co.uk/products/1371/tent-nft-kit.html) system as it comes with a 600W light and trays. We were also going to buy an extractor and all the other things needed from this site. We hopeful plan to find the balance of Canna Boost accelerator and Canna Aqua Flores, Bio Buzz Organic Fish Mix to vaporise onto the leaves as well as for the later growth stages, and Dry Flower Clearing soloution to flush the plant. Dose this sound like a solid basis for a grow, plus all information on how to set up a functional Nft grow would also be greatly appreciated, much love bongsmilie

Well let grandpa Welcome you to RIU.
Looks like with that system you should have it all under control.
But if you run into any problem or just have questions you know were to go
There plenty to read here also.
Good luck from an old school guy!

Thanks Grandpa, I was wondering if there was any obvious DO'S or DONT'S when it comes to Ntf , I know making sure your not flooding or starving your plants is important, but other than that im green XD

Do you know the lift method of watering?
The "lift the pot" method is a widely practiced, and very accurate method of knowing when to water your container plants.

The best way imho, to know when soil grown potted plants need more watering is by checking how heavy the pots feel. This method is very simple to learn once you get the feel for how light a ready for watering pot of soil feels.

Get an equal size pot and fill it with your soil. The medium should be about as moist as a new bag of potting soil. Use this planter as a learning tool to get a rough idea of how much the pots should weigh before watering again. The pots with your plants will feel only just slightly heavier when the soil is ready for more water. Pick up one of your planted pots, if its noticably heavy, do not water it until it feels "light". Next time you water a planter, pick it up and feel how much heavier it feels compared to the sample pot of soil.

It only takes a few times picking up the pots until this skill is like a "second nature" to you. You wont even need the sample pot after you get accustomed to the lifting method.

Sure your plants are always putting on more weight as they grow larger, but once you're proficient at lifting the pots, you'll also know how to compensate for the weight of the plants with ease.

I dont know how to better explain this method of knowing when to water, but believe me, anyone who learns this method, will always know when its time to water.

one idea would be to get two smaller tents or at least one small one to handle clones or plants that are in veg mode. if you have two tents of equal size or the flower tent larger you can have a continual grows going on.

besides that I welcome you here and good luck with your grow. keep us updated.

Yeah, I see what your saying Grandpa, anything else i need to keep in mind when I use Nft tents? And Jake that is what i wanted was a continuous grow, the secondary tent for clones and veg wouldent even need to as big as the other would it? Also when would be the best period to take cuttings from the plants?
