nah, you dont need to glue it if you dont want to. I use suction cups(petco or petsmart), but i used to just have em floating in the water. no biggie

as for roots, they'll only be "out of water" for a few seconds if you do things properly, so no big deal

Thanks man big help anyone know aproximately the volume of the res?
heh, i was actually wonderign the same thing not too long ago, so i measured it.

The AG Reservoir is approximately 100 Fluid Ounces (100oz)

Definitely helps to know the size for watering and nute-mixing :)

like $1 each at Home Depot/Lowes, maybe $2 if things are expensive in your area.

They also have the best choices of lights, Walmart never has the good stuff

WhiteWiddow,
First off, welcome to the 'Growing Nation'.
Is that aluminum foil for lining? If so, you should buy some mylar. Aluminum foil absorbs light and does not reflect the right wavelengths. Foil is worse than white walls.

For germination, you don't need the light. If you so desire, the paper towel method works great.

I wouldn't worry too much if you are using aluminum foil, it's not as bad as ^ was saying. It only absorbs small amounts of light, but it does absorb heat. Also, it will reflect the same wavelengths of light as will mylar.

Good luck m8! I'll be watching.:bigjoint:

Mylar's kinda hard to find, but for your first grow, its another one of those "non-essential" things that you'd be better off not worrying about

Yes, it helps, yes everyone else uses it, yes it rocks
...but its easier to talk/plan mylar than it is to actually use it. Stick with the basics your first time around :)

As for the root...not sure what you're talking about. Did it break? Can you post a picture or two?

well, i see a couple MAJOR PROBLEMS:

1) Never handle the plant, the root, or the growplug UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. Human hands are dirty, un-delicate, and clumsy.

2) NEVER HANDLE THE ROOT. Seriously, its the weakest and most vulnerable thing about a plant. NEVER handle it!

3) I don't see a plant attached to that root. Is that what happened? If so, its dead/gone. That's like cutting off the head of a chicken - it may "look" alive for a little while, but its definitely dead

ah...i see it now. had the brightness down on my screen!

Well, it could be the seed's planted down too far deep. If it can't reach the surface.... (maybe try GENTLY nudging it up towards the top?)

As for the root breakage, no idea man. I'm a newbie myself, but I seriously doubt the root can heal, especially with such a young plant. But give it time...never know!

Hey man, what's up?

The root will most likely heal. I have broken a couple roots off some seeds before, and they grew to be rather nice plants. Actually, I'm growing one that I broke right now.

Anyway, if you wanna move your plant around, just be careful. Your not gonna kill it as long as you are careful. You should probably try moving the plant more towards the top of the plug like leova said.
