First Grow

ok so my first grow... i have germinated 7 seeds (bagseeds) and after three days, they have all sprouted inch long roots. today (day 3) i potted them each in very miniature biodegradable pots with potting soil. the pots have been placed in a box approx 1 x 2 x 1.5H ft... i have one 23 watt cfl at the top of the box approx 10-12" above the soil. i have lined the inside with white paper and the bottom with tinfoil. i will not be posting pix for now becuase i dont trust the us government.

i am planning on keeping these beauties in the location they are in for about 10 days just to start them off then move them outdoors. i live in the pacific northwest (washington) and it still rains a bit, but the last frost of the year should be in about 7 days, so im cutting it close, but i can still make it.

feedback is appreciated as to any suggestions;
tonight i am ventilating the box by cuttting vents in the side and putting a small fan in there. also, i plan on making a co2 system out of baking soda & vinegar tonight as well

okay, they just hatched seeds but still is on little 23W CFL a bit weak for 7. what is the colour themp/spec of the bulb, hope 6500K since this would be the ideal spec for vegging them. keep he light an inch away from the tops, sot that they won't stretch towards it!;) and kick that damn tin foil out, that only gives you heat spots dude! but you damn right about the government;)

i would leave them insides a bit longer, grow them for a month or two indoors bushy and branchy by topping and tying them. that will grow you a huge colas bush, i can tell you;) also keep that tying going once you are outsides, tie the branches down an sideways in a "x-mas tree" shape so that the plant catches the max in sunlight. that needs a bit more space but is worth it;)

I'd get rid of the paper(could cause a fire) and upgrade lights/move lights closer. You're probably safe posting pics if you use a proxy. I can email you how to use SOCKS 5 proxies with IE and Firefox, as well as provide a good proxy list if you'd like.

I am trying the same thing you are planning.Same climate. Vegging inside and transfering outside. I have the same style light and am upgrading to more of them asap. Cool white and warm white together gives them the right light spectrum for veg. the gov can suck a fat one. Im not posting from where my tomatoes are growing .IP= location. Be smart and they can't find anyhing

well... plants seem to be stretching a bit... probably because im only running one cfl, at 23 or 27 watts, i cant remember. lets see, since germination, its been 5 days, and only 2 days that the plants have been in the soil.

alas, i have killed a plant, less than half hour ago. the light fell on it and fried it.

i have installed a fan which should be more than sufficient, although it is not oscilating

other than that im going to hopefully get a co2 system in there later today.

also, i know theres only one thing i can do about stretching, which is add another light, and im working on it. i have limited supplies however and i dont know if i have another cfl so any other household lights that could be used in combination with the cfl?

well i have been making good progress. i moved the light a little closer yesterday, and 2 nights ago i added a vinegar/baking soda co2 system

since the last post, upward growth of plants has slowed VERY much, and the leaves are expanding by the second. i can tell a major difference if i leave them alone for even 12 hours

out of my six plants, 3 or 4 are the same kind and the others are all different. they are also all bagseeds.

my favorite plant is the shortest (about 2 inches), and has more leaf development than any others. it is also kinda purple on the stem compared to the others, and i think the leaves might be showing some weird colors too so im hoping its some purp shit and not a deficiency

i think for bagseeds, 7 days since the day i started germination and already 2-4 inches and developing the second set of leaves is pretty damn good.

also, i think ill put some pix up on sunday or maybe a day or 2 after so yeah wish me luck:joint:

well, progress is going slow but sure now. earlier today i potted the 6 surviving plants in bigger pots and moved them to my backyard.

so far the plants have only grown a tiny bit in vertical height since last post, but i noticed that the roots were far more developed than i expected, and thus lack of water may have something to do with it.

already one of my plants is looking sick. the very first 2 true leaves are light gree and droopind, with spots of brown. now im pretty sure i didnt burn em, but if i did, the problem is now fixed becuase they are now surviving off the weak ass sun...

overall progress is going good, but could definately be going better. i gave them a bunch of nutes last night, might have over done it, but things are still going ok... and according to the old farmers almanac, the last frost of the year was yesterday morning so i should be in the clear.

the plants all have 4 leaves, and one of them has tiny 3rd leaves. i cant wait to be able to see a marijuana leaf like how i see it on the internet all the time, giant fan leaves with up to 10 different "fingers"... my biggest leaves only have 3, and they are TINY. god this makes me anxious:joint:

wow the weather of the last two days has been amazing! 3 days ago, when i transplanted my plants and brought them outside, it was a cool overcast day.

the last two days the temperature has been in the 80s. hey, i live in southwest washington and that is truly amazing. not one cloud in 48 hours. i think that helped repair my plants to the full extent after transplantation.

there is a god

but ill probably go check em out tomorrow and maybe take a few picz so ill update then

Good luck, I still need to wait another week to move mine outside in New Mexico. I don't use a timer so I have to rush home and turn the lights on or off all the time, then set my alarm for odd hours and reset it before I can go back to sleep. Very hard waking up after a shitload of beer & bud to mess with the lights.
