First Harvest - Is She Done?

I received this plant when she had little bitty flowers and I was told that she had been on 12/12 "for a couple of days, maybe 3"... it was a sketchy story...

Anyway, she's been flowering now for 6 weeks that I am sure of and a few odd days that I'm not so sure of. I have no idea what strain she is or how long she vegged (although judging by her size, I'd say not long at all). Having never actually harvested a plant, I dunno how to know when she's ready.

I'd say another 2 to 3 weeks maybe, what do the trichomes look like? Grab a pocket-microscope from Radioshack and check em out.

Not ready.
Average is 8 weeks flowering. I like to let all the pistils (white hairs) turn color before I chop (I also look at the trichs through a 100x scope). If you let her go a few weeks longer you will see her plump up quite a bit and also produce more trichs (crystals)

looks good.

Okay, I'll be patient

I thought it should be a couple more weeks, but then I started getting nervous that I might wait too long since I don't really know for sure (and will never know) her exact start date. I been thinking all along that she would be a Thanksgiving smoke. That still looks about right, given two more weeks and a week to dry...then I can cure even longer. Blah, blah... thanks! I'm getting really excited. Wish I knew what she was...

Sounds like you've got yourself a stolen plant...that shit is bad karma dude.
No, no, no, no, no!!!! I was her rescuer... okay, here's the story... and I swear it is true.
There was this dude who had a little plant and she was just beginning to flower. The dude loved his plant. Anyway, turns out dude is stupid and gets picked up one night for DWI - third time this year...automatic jail time. Dude uses his one phone call and calls his girlfriend. He says to girlfriend, find somebody to rescue my plant! She'll die!. So girlfriend starts calling all her friends. One of her friends knew somebody who might know somebody with a medical card. That somebody called their friend, who happened to be the boyfriend of my son's ex-wife, who knew that I had just recently gotten my medical card and that I could legally be growing this plant. So all the clandestine connections were made and I brought home an 8" tall flowering something.

Now you see why I don't like typing that whole story over and over and over... LOL... I think I'll save a link to this post so if it comes up again, I won't have to type it all again. I'm a middle aged grandma who got hurt last spring in a motorcycle accident. (At least I was driving my own!!! I am a "cool" grandma).

Hey there Bluejeans,

Those are some nice looking buds there, keep checking the white glands every couple of days and see if some of them are starting to turn brownish. Sorry to hear about that accident, but glad to hear you got your medical card, GRATZ!!!!!!!. Laughed quite a bit from the E! True Cannabis Story of your plant :D and about your friend calling from jail to get someone to take care of the plant lol.

Hope this one gives you one great smooth smoke soon, and save some for jail dude :P

Thanks, the pics were taken about 3 minutes before I posted them  I have a 60x scope I ordered from ebay, but I got panicky thinking that she might get done before the darn thing arrived. I think now I feel better about it and the scope should be here this week. She will be my very first homegrown smokeable bud so I'm getting a little anxious... LOL

Well, as she begins what I know of as week 7 of flowering, Alice has suddenly started cannibalizing her fan leaves (they are canoeing and shriveling up). I don't know what else I can do for her as I haven't given her any nutes in weeks. She had to be repotted 4 weeks ago and being way too new, I chose MG pre-fertilized potting soil. Bad mistake... Now every time I water her, she gets nute burn :-(

But like I've said from the beginning, she is a trooper! All of a sudden, I've noticed literally dozens of new hairs growing on her buds. While destroying her fan leaves, she is really building up her buds.

She is finishing out her days in a 24 x 32 box with 2-65w(300w eq) 6500k bulbs in opposite corners and a 40w(150w eq) 2700k bulb in the middle. The whole box is lined in black/white poly and I installed a PC fan in the top with a carbon filter from a cat litter box taped over it. It does an amazing job of keeping the box from smelling up the kitchen. She's been in there about 2 weeks, but she seems to really like it in there.

My card reader is dead so although I have pictures, I can't share them right now... :wall:

I still can't post pics. I've never had a problem before. Has something in the format changed that I'm not aware of? I've been on the road and have'nt posted in a few weeks. HELP!

I'm kinda new so I don't know if things were different before, but to post pics, I have to click on "Go Advanced" below and then click on the attachment icon (looks like a paperclip). If that's what you're doing, then sorry, I can't help. :weed:

I took Alice out for a little trim and I ended up weighting down her longer arms and opening her up for some extra light to the inner buds for the final week or so. While I had her out, I decided to take some pics.

In the last pic, I threw her into the tub with the 2 week olds in their 5 gal buckets just for perspective. She is really quite tiny. But at this point, and by the time she's harvested, she will be one solid bud with almost zero leaf.
