I had this posted in journals but I was getting virtually no feed back and the only other post was by jesus of cannabis and that assholes avatar is a grotesque picture of a dead chipmunk and I got tired of seeing it. So the first few posts are just gonna be copied over from that thread

  • TLDR version is at the bottom of post

This grow is basically a refresher course with soil and bag seed so I can set my lights and ventilation up correctly.
I'm marking this as day one, 5 bag seeds all sprouted today.
I'll post pics as soon as I get phone fixed (cracked screen and now I can't take pic cuz button is covered by crack)
Basically what I have is a 3.5'Wx1.5'Dx3.5'H with reflective insulation on all 6 sides, currently I have a 5 socket vanity fixture with 3x 6500k 20w cfl and 2x 2700k 23w cfl, I'll add more in a couple of weeks when it is needed, most of the materials used are from around the house. No vents yet, gotta wait till pay day to get a couple of decent PC fans so for now I have a small fan for circulation but still gets up to 95 so I'm leaving a door open and temp is hanging around 75F. Using regular cheap miracle gro soil (next grow will be hydro) in what I believe to be 3/4 gallon buckets, maybe a bit less.

    Box: 3.5'W x 3.5'T x 1.5'D w/reflective walls
    Lights: 2x 23w 2700k & 3 20w 6500k
Medium: Cheap Miracle Gro soil in 1/2 to 3/4 gal. buckets
    Ventilation: currently non existant
More: don't be lazy ^will take less than a minute to read

  • Got pics now, the one in the rockwool was the last to sprout, it's a bit crispy on the ends of the leaves but I figure I got nothin to lose by seeing what happens, if it lives I'll just stick it in a solo cup and put it in my flower box.

    Heres my flower box

It's a bit unrefined right now, there's an 18" ruler just to give some perspective.
Neither box has ventilation right now but I've ordered a couple of PC fans that should be here some time next week

  • After reading up on transplanting and seeing how beneficial it can be to plants, I decided to move them into cups before a root system could really develop, they're all in rockwool cubes.
Now that they're grouped closer together I decided to remove 3 lights so now I only have 2x 20w 6500k bulbs in now, hopefully this reduces heat enough to be able to close the doors.

The one in the middle is the one that was half crispy, doubtful that it will survive but like I said before, it doesn't hurt just to see what happens.

Alright now its all caught up, I put a plastic bag over "crispy" for a humi-tent, also after 2 hours yesterday it got up to 87 so I just have to wait for my fans to come in. :/

I also have a molasses question if anyone is savvy with this, I've never used it but heard nothing but good about it. Is this one ok to use? If not whats a cheap one I can get, when do I start and how much per gallon? Thanks in advance.

I think any is fine, but Im not sure b/c ive never used it as well. I'm planning to use that or honey starting 3-4 weeks into flowering.

you have a fan you can use to blow in there all the time til your other come?

87 is too hot for baby seedlings

Just found an old memory card with pics of my old grow, shitty lighting and air circulation, this new one should turn out way better.

I do have a fan in there to blow air around but my ex fucked up the blades when she tried cleaning it for me, not her fault, she didn't know but it doesn't blow like it used to, I have a door open and it's staying steady at 77

Lol the same ex used to work at Michaels and these were on a clearance sale for a buck a piece, my old one was a hydro set up, ebb and flow, I just drilled a few holes in the bottom to make them work with soil, they work great though, I may try to find more when I decide to go hydro again

My fan order got fucked up so I ordered a couple more, the new ones are better and cheaper but I hate the fact that I now have to wait even longer. Also ordered some cheap hole saws so I can get a perfect hole. Despite heat being an issue I went ahead and put in one more light since they're only 20w. Crispy (yeah I named it, ya wanna fight about it) is actually starting to grow its second set of leaves, barely but they're coming in. I know how y'all like pics so here they are. (gotta love android, G+ and instant upload)

Aww poor Crispy! Cute name, haha. It seems to be on it's way to recovery with that second set of leaves coming in. I can definitely relate to heat being an issue. It's going to be a huge relief when those fans come in, just hang in there. :)

Your light set up looks really neat, too.

Lol thanks, not very often we get anyone form the female gender in here, I think Crispy may end up shorter and bushier than the others because of its stunted early growth. The reason for it was that I didn't plant the cube right away and it dried out a good bit.

Ohh I see. One of my 3-week old plants is like that due to slightly drying out + heat when it was about a week old. It's older than the others by a couple days but it's shorter, more compact, and it's leaves are smaller. If you look at all of the inner growth and nodes you can tell that it is more mature though.

And ha, thanks for noticing! I'm still a "bro" to quite a few on here though, haha. I definitely noticed the lack of a significant female population, that's too bad! None of my girl friends IRL are even remotely interested in growing either.. They'll toke up, but growing the goods seems to be a guy thing.

Been recovering for a couple of days, I partied way too hard, I just gave my surviving plants straight tap water because they were bone dry and went back to bed. will flush and feed tomorrow with a real update with pics, just bear with me and damn this data loss, so many constructive posts lost.
