First outdoor grow (Ohio/Cali)...Questions

Ok, here we go!

This is going to be my first grow. I'm looking to grow outdoors in central Ohio, and souther Cali. Here are some details about each climate...

OHIO

Temperature - Monthly averages: May - 50L, 73H, June - 59L, 82H, July - 64L, 85H.
Precipitation - Monthly averages: May - 3.80", June - 3.90", July - 4.60"
Humidity - Morning and evening monthly averages: May - 79% am, 52% pm, June - 81% am, 53% pm, July - 84% am, 54% pm
Dew Point - Average monthly dewpoint: May - 49F, 9C, June - 59F, 15C, July - 63F, 17C

CALIFORNIA

Temperature - Monthly averages: Jan - 49L, 66H, Feb - 51L, 66H, Mar - 53L, 66H
Precipitation - Monthly averages: Jan - 2.28", Feb - 2.04", Mar - 2.26"
Humidity - Morning and evening monthly averages: Jan - 70% am, 55% pm, Feb - 72% am, 58% pm, Mar - 76% am, 59% pm
Dew Point - Average monthly dewpoint: Jan - 45F, Feb - 46F, Mar - 48F

My questions are...

What would be the best strain for the given locations, and what are the yield possibilities per plant?
What's the chance for success if I put these in the ground and let nature do the rest?
How far does the smell travel?
How many plants could I put in 1 location without it being spotted from the air?

So I started this threat without doing any research, asking questions I could answer myself. That's my b

What I'm planning on using in the Ohio grow is 10 swiss cheese, 10 short riders, 10 Kaya Golds, and 10 Hawaian Maui Waui's.

I'd like to drop in a few more. Any suggestions from experience?

I have all year for the Ohio grow, but only have Jan-June for the Cali. The two problems I'm having, and can't find answers for are....

I can't water the plants in cali regularly. I'm considering a portable watering system running off batery power. I'll probably build something myself. Any of yall ever built/used one?

The other problem is getting the buds started early. Without moving them from their sunny location, do yall know of any way to get them flowering?
