First Outdoor Grow.

Hey guys this is my first post her on RUI, I have growen a few plants here and there with my brother but it was always indoors. Ive decided that im tired of buying weed and i really want to grow a plant to call it my own. I have my fingers crossed and hope that you guys will help me when i have questions. im not planting till next month, so in the next few weeks im going to take my time and get every thing i should. im kinda lost when it comes to pot sizes since i have to keep it in a pot (all the soil in my area is actualy sand) and how to combat insects and such. but this is what i have so far.
I have two bags of organic soil, and a compost pile taller then me.
I have pots ranging from like 3 inches all the way to a foot and a half
And to wrap it all up, a bag of seeds from all the best weed ive had with seeds in it. and i have had some good stuff :bigjoint:

But really my first question is the pot size, i figured id put them in small pots at first (like 3" across) and go from there.

When i get stuff going and i start buying stuff ill start taking pictures and ill make this my little grow journal, and sorry if i posted in the wrong spot, if i did can you move it to the proper area?

good luck man ;)
the people on here are quite helpful!
as for the pots, from my experience i would suggest putting the seedlings into decent sized pots right off the start. transplanting can be quite stressful for them, and it is very easy to damage roots. by starting in a bigger pot, you can minimize transplant damage
peace!

im thinking of just taking a drill to a few 10 gallon buckets, they are a bit sturdier then plastic pots lol.
weather was better today then it was yesterday, and i have a low of 63 for the night, it was 58ish last night. so we will see where this goes.

i start mine in party cups also works very well

and you should put them in the biggest pots possible

though i really suggest putting them in the ground, dig a 3x3 foot hole (or bigger) and fill it with good soil

it is worth the effort in the end

i had 3 plants in the ground and two plants in pots and the plants in the ground got to be nearly 10 feet tall and the potted plants were only 3-4 feet

I have to dig huge holes anyway, all the soil around here is sand for the first 2 feet then red clay
It rained like hell today ima let the sand dry before i go out there and dig.
