first scrog..

Hey everyone

So I decided to give the scrog method a try...couple questions..
All i do is keep tucking all the branches under as they grow?
do i let the whole screen fill, and have the branches ( tops) grow a certain amount above
the screen before i switch to flower? I'll get some pics up this week....

Hey dubba scrog is great besides tucking away branches it's also good to trim the bottom up a bit where the light will not penetrate through and to help keep the canopy even also you can get rid of weak scraggly branches from the bottom super crop the buds that are getting taller then the others it will redirect the energy to other smaller bud sites and creates a nub which will in turn give better growth and more nutrient up take in the long run.
don't supercrop it if late into flowering cause in will hinder your end result but throughout veg and half way through flower no prob

Any input would be great, as I said before this is my first attempt. I plan on cutting the lower growth this weekend.
I guess my real concerns are how long do I veg for? do I wait for the whole screen to fill before flowering?
should the "tops" be a certain height above the screen before flipping to flower? I know the screen has big holes but thats all they had at the grow store. If this goes well I will probably make my own next time with smaller ones. Once again thanks for looking please feel free to comment, let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. They are under a 600W MH 18/6.

Also I'm trying again with my cloning bucket.. I got a new area for the bucket and its no so hot out so the water is staying cooler a lot better and I add ice to it... this is what I have in it.. is this cut right? if not feel free to show where the cut should be... the bucket has them cut all like that.

Looks good dubba you may want the scrog net a bit higher and let them grow under it and then train them figure it will double in size when you switch to flower or close to it... so you want to top more and veg as long as it takes to fill the tent with tops and then clean up the bottom as light penetration doesn't reach lower branches just keep the top 3rd of the plant with foliage and tops.
that looks close to a 4x4x6 so with 5 plants I would shoot for about 1 1/2 foot per plant tall but bushes with lots of tops fill out that whole 4x4 with tops some will need more then others like the 2 in the back to fill out so then the 3 in front. your gonna want a lot of tops so keep topping and fim/supercrop aka pinch to keep canopy even and don't be afraid to veg longer with all the topping the goal with scrog is to focus on the tops and clean up the bottom and maximize space.

Clones look great if it's struggling or slowly taking root remove one of the weaker fan leaves on bottom. and a lot of the time when I see people clone they just cut at 45degree angle and dip and that's it do that as well as a slice up the middle of stem up to the angle you cut and scrape the stem skin gently with clean razor all the way to your thumb in the picture then dip into clonex this will help root faster more surface area on the stem the better survival rate and cutting up the middle is a trick I learned in Jorge Cervantes book and works great more root shoots. I'm tuned in can't wait to see the progress.

I recently built a new scrog setup. I wanted it to be easy to assemble/disassemble, and of course resusable. Came up with an idea that uses cup hooks and rubber bands. Initially I made it out of wooden pieces that went together with bolts and wing nuts, but just as I was drilling the last holes I realized it would be better with PVC.

It requires specialty PVC fittings you can get online. It is scalable both vertically and horizontally. Here is a finished section:



The legs can be any height you want. The horizontal pieces are 30" long with cup hooks installed every 6". A 7" file folder rubber band goes across 4 hooks. Here it is in use with multiple sections:

Tip: a dab of white lithium grease will make it easier to put together and take apart. Later, the rubber bands can be just snipped out of the way, they're cheap.

The plants along the sides are in that room temporarily, they go into the tent to finish.

How many plants in there man? how many watts......looks great.....

Was that for me? 18 under the scrog, 8 along the sides that go into the tent when I switch. Currently 2x 1kw and 2x 600w, configured in a diamond pattern. Considering switching to 6x 600w in two rows, or keep the 1k and put those in the middle with 4x 600w.

TET that looks awesome, how the heck do you get water to them! so just keep pinching the tops on all the new growth? im to too worried about running out of room, i had 6 plants over 3 tall not trained last time and made it.

Tet, that was for you, I was wondering about watering too....

Watering is no problem. When they're still fairly small I can water from above. I plant them literally sideways and use little wire "S" hooks on a screen to hold them down for a couple weeks in veg. After they're trained right and starting to rise, I release them from below and remove the screens. Then watering from below is easy also:

Watering sucks for me when they're bigger. I was thinking of trying supersoil and an inexpensive irrigation system like this...

Mine used to take 2-3 weeks before I got the water cold. Sometimes I reapply cloning gel too.

Would you flip these? The position of the front 2 plans was kinda off that's why it doesn't look as full as the back..

Yeah, pretty soon. Figure on doubling height, so it depends how much headroom you have there.
