just wanted to start a thread to show my grow cuz i can't show anyone around me lol. i got some bag seed from a friend threw em in a jar of water for the heck of it and after they germed i bought little jiffy pots n a lil bag of soil. didn't think i would take it this far but after they where about 2 inches growing on my window seal(hiddin though) i didn't know what to do with them but give em away but because i came this far i looked around for ways to grow it discretely i went on youtube and found pc grow tutorials but couldn't get all the used parts to make it so then i found this forum and all the post from you guys helped me find different ways to set up the cab and how the plants need a controlled environment to grow healthy. so i constructed n i kept growing. first in a rubbermaid tub and now in a wire shelf cab i made with reflective insulation n pc fans under 4 cfl bulbs...

i put these plants in the 12/12 photo period for about 2 months now n finally one of the girls showed. i started feeding 10-15-10 n one plant witch was my healthiest withered overnight and i now it's because i miss calculated the miracle grow time feeding soil so i just want to finish up the plants and start from scratch with everything i learned for my grow and from you fellow growers. thanks to all!

i will keep posting my updates and constructive criticism is welcomed. want to learn as much as i can!

Hey guys heres some pics of my set up. I actually have two boxes. The Rubbermaid tub was actually my first set up n I had all the plants in there but they started to out grow it so I had to come up with something asap cuz the lst wasn’t working anymore lol!

Okay so the Rubbermaid tub is a 18gal. n I got two exhaust fans istalled with two passive intake ports and one more fan inside for circulation. I was running 3 67watt 6500k bulbs and I squeezed about 8 plants in there. The scrog box is 3’tall x1’ wide. I got 2 6500k 67watt and 2 2700k 60watt bulbs one exhaust fan passive intake port and another fan for circulation. I got reflective insulation but not enough cuz I was in a hurry but had to extend the box from two feet to three quick n didn’t get the chance to relocate the fan to the top yet. I don’t really got any privacy in the house cuz people keep knocking even when the doors locked. Irritating but gotta deal wit it for now. That being said everynight I’m gonna work on the boxes I gotta make it quick n put it away before people wanna bother me…other than that my grow has been doing great and finally happy I got signs of one lady just need to wait a little longer for the others. Thanks for looking!

hey guys just an update. i cut off the food n just gonna get better plant food for flowers. i just watered them with distilled water. man someone on the forum said i shouldn't use that much nitrogen n now i understand why the plants keep stretching instead of staying short when topped...well heres some pics! i just been weaving the screen lightly. it's filled pretty nicely but just supercropped a few tops cuz they shot up after feed. the one plant that was budding is looking even better! i counted about three healthy tops bt the others i think are too small. still only one plant budding others still no sign of sex...

I don't know why someone would tell you to lay off the Nitrogen as a solution...you don't want to use too much but it is important for your leaves to get nitrogen so they can make you some healthy buds. You would know if you were using too much because your leaves would be dark green / almost black color. I would think the culprit of the stretching would be more likely due to your lights! What wattage are they? Plants stretch when they aren't getting enough light not from too much of a nutrient...also which spectrum are you using? They would benefit most from the 2700k spectrum (warm light) during flowering.

K thanks for the info! the lightung im using are 2 60 watt 2700k bulbs n 2 65watt 6500k. What you think. I was running all four 6500k but i saw that people used a mix of the 2 bulbs. Im going to the garden shop to get some better plant food though with higher phos. N lower nitro...

When you say 60 and 65w, is that the equivalent wattage or the actual wattage? You're right about mixing the two, good to have both in there. You spectrum is fine, but if you're running 60 watt equivalent, it's too low. I'd aim for at least two 32 watt actual wattage CFLs in conjunction with the lights you already have. You got to step it up for flowering! I heard you can find these big bulb CFLs from the outdoor lighting section at home depot or Lowe's. I bought mine online for like 8 bucks a piece.

Yeah they're like equivilent to 100 sum watts but actuall wattage is 60 and 65. I bought em in a pack of 4 for like 12 bucks on sale.

Oh and an update! i got a new bottle of plant food. They dont got the high end stuff here only miracle n schults. Wish i could try some tiger bloom or something but gotta settle for what i found witch is schults 8-14-9. Hope thats good for now cuz i gotta get better stuff online. Dont got garden or hydro shops here so tough luck trying to get everything you need one shot...

Hey no offense but there is no way those are 60 watt actual CFLs. I have a 42 watt and it's bigger than my hand...and a 60watt CFL would be equivalent to 300 watts! This is a link so you can see the difference:

MaxLite 11270

I'm guessing you probably have some 23watt CFLs in there that are equivalent to 65watts...and that won't be enough. Your plants will keep stretching, your buds won't get very big, and your nugs won't be very potent! You don't have to have high-end nutes to have a good amount for your plants. The schults doesn't sound very good for flowering, too much Phosphorus def. If you have a wal-mart around, you can get some good organic nutes in their gardening section.

Oh yeah sorry about that i do got 65watt bulbs but those arent whats in my flowering cab. So i would need to upgrade on the bulbs soon cuz two of the plants are already showing. We dont got a walmart out here. Jus a small island but we got a home depot i couldnt really get to so i went with another home and gardening center... Well for now i gotta jus use what i got till i could check home depot. Last time they were out of stock... Thanks for the input! what i always see around here are miracle grow ferts. You think there okay? i thought budding plants need the phosphorus higher then nitro? i got this cuz it was the only one i found with lowest nitrogen n highest phos.

Oh ok that's what's up then! Get those bad boys in that box!! lol. I know how it is to live somewhere and not have everything around. I think you can use Miracle Grow ferts but you have to be careful...if you can find something specifically for tomatoes, that would be even better. Cannabis and tomatoes have almost identical needs.

yeah it sucks not having the right stuff to grow. im even having trouble finding the proper hp tester for water... thanks for the info on the tomatoes by the way! i heard you could use a lot of stuff for tomatoes on cannibis and plus the ferts are safer. i'll keep that in mind next time i head over to home depot...

heres some pics from last night though!

They're looking pretty good!! I might be wrong, but they look Sativa dominant. I think Sativa's tend to stretch more than Indica's. Maybe you are over watering a little? Notice a couple of your leafs are curled down / look a little crispy. I just did the same to my Kush, am having backing off a little bit! They have a nice color though...do they smell when you handle them? :weed:

i found out a couple weeks ago that when i put the 2 6500k bulbs in the stopped stretching so much. when i feed though they burst up and just recently i had to super cropp some tall tops... yeah i mis calculated the watering time n i watered couple days ago. yeah i love the color! oh and they smell very strong. haha as soon as i open my closet i could smell em but i got a pluggin air freshener right by the closet n it seems to do the job for now...when i touch em i get the smell all over my hands n fingers!

Damn, you make me want to smell them!! lol. I'm glad that the 6500ks made them stop stretching. Is this your first grow or have you grown before and this is just your first cab grow? I think you're doing a pretty good job regardless, especially since you don't have easy access to everything. I've been hearing that sativa's are difficult to grow with CFLs so you should feel proud of your self!

wow foreal? that sounds cool. yeah though this is my first grow period but i actually had a good start with jorge cevantes unltimate grow, high times mag, in my favorite RIU! thanks i feel better. i was expecting more criticism for the first grow than compliments. i never knew sativas were hard to grow with cfl's. i'm just worried about the potency under cfls though cuz i hear they have to be getting a ton of lumens to work right...

You get those lights in there and you won't have to worry as much. You're def doing good for your first grow, a lot of people don't even make it past the seedling stage! I'm glad that people didn't attack you and just say a bunch of negative things to discourage you from growing. Sometimes I think that people forget they were new to growing at one point too.
