Good morning everyone,

Over the past weeks I've been absorbing a plentiful amount of outdoor-growing,
there's so much information i doubt anyone to know everything (for that in mind I do have a few questions) .
I highly appreciate the the community for building this substantial amount of knowledge in this forum within my grasp.

Around sometime late April I should be transplant my sprout-lings outside, hopefully much earlier before that but Michigan's weather Bipolar as Hell so you never really know when the frost will stop (Hopefully someone should chime in on this).
I'm planning on digging 30-50 gallon holes for maximum yield, I'm still looking for a nutrient suggestions are highly appreciated .

The seeds i will be germinating consist of :
x5 Heavyweight Fruit Punch Feminised Seeds

Description:
Earth Juice’s Amazon Bloom is by far the best horticultural medium available for indoor and outdoor plants. For lush growth and vibrant flowers, there’s no better choice. Amazon Bloom contains peat moss, forest compost, coconut coir, feather meal, bat guano, marinebird fossilized guano, steamed bone meal, sulfate of potash magnesia from langbenite, neem meal, earthworm castings, sea kelp (ascophyllum nodosum), humate ore (leonardite) yucca meal, and oyster shell lime. Use Amazon Bloom as the recommended companion to the Earth Juice’s line of fertilizers.

I would recommend:
20+ gallon Smart Pots (instead of digging)
Happy Frog Soil
MaxSea Nutrients
Try a few strains to find your favorite.
Good Luck :)

I was thinking about smart pots but it just seem like extra cost . Why don't you recommend digging?

Pots help protect your plants from any pest/fungus/mold/other harmful bacteria that might be in the soil of the hole you'd be digging.

I also suggest Happy Frog soil; I used Happy Frog in conjunction with the Earth Juice organic nutrients line and it worked out very well for me.

I agree with Garden Boss on trying different strains as well. Maybe try an Indica/Indica dominant strain with that Sativa dominant strain you're planning to grow?

Good luck!

Welcome to roll it up and good luck on your first grow :)

If you're doing large outdoor plants then you have to check out doublejj's thread. https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/634073-doublejj-carport-greenhouse-discussion-thread.html he uses the best by far nutrient mix for soil outdoors. (I use it when I have a few extra dollars :) )

Also check out my thread on common pest control issues: https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/790309-animal-pest-control-thread.html

In addition if you plan to use your own soil, I'd recommend using smart pots. They will no doubt save you the trouble of many future issues.

Things to consider:
=The first year of growing outdoors with a strain not native to your region is going to suck for the first generation.
=Start your plants indoors earlier on so when prime growing season is a foot you are ready for transplanting.
=Pre-made Soil is $$$$ you should set a budget and consider alternatives.

I don't have a problem with digging. Smart pots just offer a few things I like as a grower. Air pruned roots, excellent drainage, movable (if needed). That being said all my holes are hand dug (24yards total) then lined with chicken wire(gopher block), very labor intense. Maybe try half inground and half out, find your personal preference.

Also if you insist on digging your holes;
-Get a good shovel
-Pre-treating to kill off old vegetation( Dump some fresh horse shit in there and wait for it be ripe )
-throw about two inches of gravel on both sides or Put boards up against the exterior of your hole
-Properly identify roots of neighboring plants(THEY WILL ABSORB NUTRIENTS)

Seems like you know what's up.

Forgot to mention this:
-Don't do everything in one day SPREAD IT OUT

Something like this:
Day one: Dig 3/4 of everything[Taking breaks and planning your spots to dig
Day two: Finish 1/4 then, Clean up the hole (roots rocks and shit)
Day three: Treat everything, (horse shit or something)
Day four: Start hauling all your soil( if you're doing 30-50 gallon holes it's going to take a minute)
Day Five: Spread the soil and prepare for transplants(I'd consider doing this 1-2 days before)
Day six: When you're ready to grow & the soil is set dig your transplant holes(With a empty version of what ever your growing in)
Day seven: Water Prep; *Depends on where you are*
