So this is my first attempt at growing. the biggest one i planted as a seed in soil, admittedly before doing proper research. by some miracle it survived. im not entirely sure what strain it is but its a seed i saved from a bag i had this past summer which is either mother of blueberry or pineapple express. im hoping for MOB as i just got a new batch of this strain in and it is easily the best stuff ive had in months..basically since the last time i caught a batch of it. anyhow i started it in MG soil then transplanted to FFOF.. its been getting watering when necessary and a light misting twice a day..mostly straight h2o. at day 7 or 8 and the next alternate feeding i gave it a mixture of 2/5 tsp big grow and not even 1/8 tsp (literally 4 or 5 pellets) of MG orchid plant food (this was a cheap recommendation from a longtime grower for nitrogen content, thoughts?) mixed in a gallon of water. hoping i didnt overdo it with nutes. It was rootlocked in the starter pot at day 8 or 9 i think and it seems to have pretty good growth in the following few days. the most recent picture is day 13 or 14.. im really not sure the exact day i planted it but i believe it was put in soil to germinate on 3/7 or 3/8 and popped through on 11th. How does this look for a ~2 week plant? started gently flexing the stalk and leaves a few days ago. Ive been wondering if the 400w hps is overkill for this space as well..obviously from what ive read its more than necessary at this stage but is it going to be harmful to my seedlings?

The majority of the seedlings are williams wonder, 1 white widow x OG kush(largest seedling), 1 auto amnesia, 2 super skunk. germinated 1/4" down on 3/17. most popped through soil 2-3 days later. all in FFoF straight h2o.

humidity running 40-45% with a coolmist humidifier temp 73-80 with oscillating fan..going to add another cool the light a few degrees.

im really just hoping to learn as much as i can from experience on this first go at it and have been reading up on this site for information when i have free time..which is rather limited. not looking for any step by step guides or asking questions that that have been answered elsewhere. but like the title says im open to constructive criticism and advice as i hope to do this very well in the future! in the next 4 weeks or so ill be building a room/box for flowering, roughly 4'x5'x6' with 3' above it for ventilation.

Pics are Day 2, Day 4, Day 8, Day 12. Last pic not under HPS is day 13.

Well everythings seems to be going good man, i wouldnt personaly give it MG nutrients though.. theres already sum low levels in the soil(.14.14.14) and thats good enough for the first 2 weeks from my experience with MG soil, but never there nutes.. Now ur just gunna wanna feed them maybe 1/4 strengh of the recommended dose for the forst month and then 1/2 for the next month after and try and find sum nutrients that are organic and steer clear of MG if possible but if u need to use it, watch closely for over fert. and nute lock out from salt build up. Now for ur root bed if u want a cool idea to up ur yeilds a bit try and use wide and shallow beds of soil, ex 8inches deep with a circomference of 2 1/2 feet, with a mulch on top to save moisture, ( i use hec pellets for my mulch they work perfect and look pro lol ) ur gunna wanna LST if u grow in he shallow root beds and train ur plants to gow in a G formation around the pot causing all the branches to grow upwards and cause a SOG, branches will need support during flowering as buds get huge from extra light penetration. That set up worked awesome for me. Removing lower growth that doesnt reach the light canopy is always a good idea too. MAke sure u keep ur grow area clean at all times, it doesnt seem important but i cant stress it enough how important it is to use clean sterilized tools, cleaning up dead leaves and such, so no bugs/mold or anything bad can start in ur closet unexpectidly... THat a few things that worked good for me bro hope it helps u out a bit,

Looking pretty good so far dude :)

The 400w won't hurt the seedlings, in fact they will grow thick stems from a young age which is good. I agree with Shawn, I wouldn't be feeding with MG ferts if you can get away with it, they tend to burn very quickly. There should be enough ferts in the soil to sustain it for a few weeks.

Once you build your box, if it is going to be as big as you say, you may want to invest in another 400w hps as that big of a space will require more light. If done properly you could pull a lb easy :D

Good luck dude and enjoy the ride!!

update day 17

first 2 pictures are day 16 still in 1.7 gal pot. stalk is nice and strong with lush green growth while staying short and fat. i was thinking i might need to transplant it pretty soon then i noticed some little roots starting at the base of the stalk right at the top of the soil. didnt look into when is best transplanting times etc. but logically...these fuckers needed somewhere else to go..rootlocked on the sides and bottom. so day 17 pics its in what will be the final 3.7 gallon pot. its had a single feeding with 1 gal bottled water mixed 2.5 tbs ff big bloom 2 tsp ff grow big and 1tbs organic black strap molasses. the rest of the seedlings seem to be coming along without troubles, all drinking straight h2o.

the growth on this seems pretty thick compared to some pics of early plants around the same age ive seen here..of course not as good as some and especially hydro setups.. but should i really look into SCROG to increase yield or just let it grow for a first time go around ?

just a few pictures here of progress but mainly posting to inquire about the last 2 pictures. Is it overly optimistic wishful thinking.. or are those female preflowers im seeing? the plant is about 3 to 3.5 weeks into veg, is that too early to tell?

either way its loving the bigger home..overview of the very cramped closet, theres 2 more pots on the left of the cameras view. installing some mylar to spread the light. also purchased a new 600w hps when its flower time.

so things seem to be going well. just a quick update. 1 of my williams wonder plants has been coming along slower than the others, only about half as big. sure enough ph was low so i flushed it out and brought the soil up to par..see how it recovers.

added another 600w to the closet and ordered a new hortilux bulb for it so ive got 1000w running in there..added an additional humidifier as the old one wasnt cutting it, plus a 20" box fan on top of the 400w to cool the 600w.

first baby is 4 weeks from putting seed in the ground so almost a full 4 on veg since seedling.. 13.5 inches tall with a nice thick stalk. tempted to throw it in a 5 gallon bucket and let it veg another 2 weeks.

still absorbing infos from the site but any helpful tips would still be much appreciated or perhaps ill keep doing what im doing and see how she goes.

current nute line for feeding includes FF grow big, big bloom, organic blackstrap molasses, humboldt county snow storm ultra.

They look great man :)

Just so you know, all bar one of the strains you're growing are going to get massive! That big one especially ;) hope you got heaps of height to play with!

6&7. my og kush x white widow... shes been coming along real purty.
8&9 biggest williams wonder..i have like 2 more in smaller pots .. both looking decent
