ok i have been reading in this forum for a while and finally got up the nerve to create an account a while ago... and now im finally gittin up the courage to put up some pics. my plant is about 3-4 months old from seed. its just bag seed it was really an accident me and some buddies threw some seeds in a flower pot and it started growing lol. so it was started outside, and grown outside for about a month and a half with no nutrients just regular watering. i then brought it indoors and put it under 18/6 light and started feeding it MG all purpose plant food every 2 weeks. i just started flowering it about 5 days ago on 12/12 and am feeding BC boost, BC bloom, awesome blossom, and thrive alive. i toped it at the 3rd node and have done some minor trimming of lower leaves that started to yellow. as far as lights go i have a ~50watt cfl in and a 30in 30watt warm fluro. just wantin some input how am i doing what am i doing wrong. lol sorry its such a long post i wish i would have done this sooner. ill get some more pics of my setup and everything and start a grow journal soon. thanks for all the help

your gonna want a lot more light than that for flowering... either buy soem more cfls, or, why not just keep it outside and let it really reach its potential? i mean, i know reasons for not doing that, but if its possible for you to grow outside, you will get some sticky buds...

not that floro growing is horrible... its was i did (check my gallery if you want to see 'em)

lol yeah they are so fresh and so clean... but yeah im planning on getting at least one more cfl. i have it in a somewhat of a growbox that is linned with white blackout plastic, the plant is topped and i have tied it down to the egdes of the pot so my canopy is pretty flat, so i dont need a high intensity light to penetrate too far through my leafs, and im not expecting incredable results im using this as pretty much a practice atempt as i have about 5 more plants started in a hydro set up but thats another thread to come soon... but does it look pretty healthy? was topping it a good idea? and any info anyone might have as to a basic strain. and did i wait long enough to start flowering. thanks alot for the help i have been trying to really do my research i have spents numerous nights going through the grow faq wow its so informative. but let me hear what u guys think

yeah i was definitely able to get a lot more light to the buds on my topped plants... but instead of one more cfl, go to home depot or lowes and for like 10 bucks you could get a four pack of 23w cfls... just more for your dollar, thought you should know...

see now that was something i was wondering what is better one 50watt or 2 25's ?? i know its bassically the same ammount of light but wouldnt the one stronger bulb produce a stronger/brighter spectrum?? sorry if my term's arnt correct i am still new

good eye...

yeah, 2 25's at only 1500 lumen each are only gonna give you a total of 1500 lumen

while that 50 is prolly giving you more like 3500 lumen or something (these are just figures in my head, i'm not looking up the specifics, but you get what i mean)

you just get a better distrobution of that 1500 then you do of the 3500

and with cfls, the closer they are to the plants the less of airy buds you'll get...

a combination of both would be a good idea (well, as much light as possible is the best idea, duh)

ok so how bout i keep the 50 watt above my plant and then get 4-23watt and have those surrounding my plant on the sides?? my lights are all within 2"-3" of my plant and like it said its in a like 5'x5' grow box totaly covered in reflective black out plastic so i know most all my light is gettin put to use. i got the plastic because the lady at the hydro store told me its just as effective as mylar but cheaper and easier to use. but then again she told me that a wall painted flat white would reflect just as much light as the mylar so i dunno how good her info is. my lights come back on here in a couple hours so ill be able to go take a look and hopefully get some more pics up. thanks for all the help, anyone else got a couple cents to throw my way?

on my topped plant... it just seemed to loose every fan leaf... i dunno, there was lots of different stresses i put it through (i didn't intentionally thin it out, i just took em off as they died)

and my untopped plants stayed nice and leafy the whole way through, though i did start tucking the fan leaves in to get more light to the bud spots...

and yeah, the four cfls for side lighting sounds like a good idea, maybe even just one more big one on top (at the hydro store you they prolly have like am 85w cfl or something big like that...)
and the panda plastic is really good (not as reflective as mylar, but close) so good choice there...

best of luck!!!

cool yeah i just tied down the 4 main branches to the edges of the pot yesterday and now they have all started to fill in nicely already. yeah i have been thinkin about the light and i really wanna just see if i can find a small hps like 100w or somethin i dunno if they make them that small but any info on that would be good, all i hear about are like 600w and up. but i just got home and im gonna go take some new pics of my baby and some of my setup. so stay tooned. any and all help is really appreciated.

umm... most hydro stores carry down to 250w hps... but at like home depot or lowes your can pick up 75w hps security lighting setups for like 65 a piece or something like that...

yes its normal just be patient and let it grow for about 2 more months atleast and you will have beautiful buds. get some 4 foot florescents there cheap. more light means more bud

wow really u think 2 more months. i was thinkin about 2 months in totall and ive already had it on 12/12 for about 3 weeks now. and yeah i get paid tom so i will be goin to get some more lights im thinkin either 2 or 3 more of the 42w cfls or tryin to find like one of those hps security lights, one of my buddies has a spare grow light he might let me borrow so that would be choice. but yeah thanks for all the help i will also try to get some more pics up in the next couple days. i counted today and i have about 8 cola's starting to form all in my top canopy its amazing. also i am noticing these little bugs in the dirt. i have not noticed any damage on the plant at all but im sure they are not good. im thinkin maybe they are fungus gnats but i dont see any flying around just crawling in the dirt. thanks for are ur help rollitup rocks

ok i just got back from the store and i picked up some gognats cedar oil stuff for the bugs the lady at the hydro store strongly recomended it. and i picked me up 1 more 40w and 3 more 23w cfl's all in the 3000k color range. so now thats 2 40w 1 3000k and 1 5600k and 3 23w 3000k's. going by the lumen output on the box im over 10,000 lumens with less than 150w. this is all in 5'Lx4'Wx4'T grow box linned with panda plastic with one 8 inch oscilating fan for air circulation. as soon as i get all the new lights hooked up ill have some pics up and i cant wait to show u this plant its growing soo good. soo give me some imput what do u guys think and im doin good??
