First time grow!! Need advise

hello everyone first time grow here. With knowledge I've read online and with friends advice I ended up getting a 4x4 tent w a 1000w hps bulb with ballast and ventilation thru exhaust fans w carbon filter. I have purchased two 6" fan to add in tent as well. If I were going to grow what would the recommended amount of plants to used in the tent? Also question about the vegatation stage, since I only have a 1000w hps bulb I found a 300w equivalent using 85watt CFL producing 4700 lumens. If I want to vegetate six plants or so what is the recommended light source for the size tent say temperature and humidity is it a factor and can be fixed. Hope this makes sence to you guys! Just get a metal halide bulb for your ballast to veg with.

Use the cfl to get them about 6-8 inches tall and then put them under mh to veg and then hps to flower.

Temp and Hum are not** a factor.

Would you say a 600w or 1k mh bulb is better for the veg of 6-9 plants ?

Depends on size of plants, end goal and operating budget.

Environmental is always a factor.

4x4 space running horizontal I would say 6 plants under either the 600 or 1000 your choice for me 1000 would be a little over kill. I run 600 vertical setup for flower and 250mh in parabolic hoods for veg, I found they spread more light pattern than a rectangle hood. MD

I agree with @moondance on the 600w . And I agree with @whitebb2727 and @happyfarm3r420 on the mh, mh bulbs are cheap and will help keep your plants short. The CFL is OK for seedlings but be sure to mount it horizontally .

And don't over water or over feed .
