First Time Grow: Skunk #1 or Blue Cheese?

Hey dudes (and dudettes),

So I've decided that I'm finally going to start growing this summer. I'm planning on setting up a small CFL op in my garage (which I'll definitely need some help with later, but I digress), but I'm kind of stumped on what should be my first strain. Good lord, for something that's suppose to be illegal, there sure are a shitload of options : P

After doing a bit of lurking, I've picked up on a couple of posts that praise the virtues of Skunk #1 and Blue Cheese for a first time grow, as apparently it's pretty hard to seriously fuck up with either plant.

Another strain that was often mentioned was Northern Lights #5, so that's a possibility as well.

I'll admit, I love my sativas (nothing beats that energetic, happy high), but I'm looking for a relatively short plant that will finish flowering within 60/65 days, which pretty much rules out every strain of sativa.

So, if you've had experience growing either Skunk #1 or Blue Cheese, lemme nough. I'm especially interested to hear about how the high was. I'm pretty sure I've had Skunk before and I'm pretty sure I loved it, but it would be nice to compare notes with y'all.

Again, this will be my first grow, so wish me luck! If all goes well, I'd love to try these strains in the future:

Kali Mist (from what I hear, this is the sativa to get!)
Laughing Buddha
Sour Diesel
Hawaiian Snow
Alaskan Ice.

Thanks for checkin' out my thread. It's nice to have a place where I can openly talk about weed like this without persecution.

Take'r easy, dudes.

I'll just add that Kali Mist is pretty much the number one best smoke out there right now if you have the time for it to flower.

Thanks for the reply, la9.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to flower. However, when I get good enough to grow sativas, Kali Mist will be the first strain I grow.

Anyone else with an opinion on Blue Cheese and/or Skunk? How about original UK Cheese, Heard lots of good things about that strain as well. How easy is it to grow?

Thanks dudes.

Try Top44, it has the shortest flower time, and the easiest I have ever grown. Finishes in about 40 to 50 days. Great production smoke, nice buzz, it's no northern lights, but very nice mellow smoke. I added a little molasses about week two of flower, for one week then went back to Lucas formula for one more week then flushed with clearX and H20 turned out very very good. Nice sticky dense buds. Out of five plants (femies) the yield was about 25oz.
Good luck,

Farmer

Try looking onto the autoflower varieties. Diesel Ryder is probably the most popular one that I know of, and from seed to smoke it beats any indica or sativa. They are also very short, and you don't have to worry about budding them out. From what you say you want, I think this will be a very good way for you to get started. IMHO..

I'm currently growing blue cheese, and I would not tell you that it's hard to screw it up. In fact I've had the most trouble from the BC than from the rest. I'm also growing Gigabud, Pineapple Express, Lemon Skunk, and LA Woman. If you don't want to do an autoflower variety, I'd point you towards Pineapple Express. I am absolutely fried off it right now, and love the taste! It is definitely some funky herb, and I feel it's very good for an indoor grow, and it seems very easy to care for. The 2 PEs I have are also outgrowing everything else, including the Gigabud (wtf on that???).

The taste of the blue cheese is simply amazing. I've never had anything to compare to it, and I love the high. I'm thinking of only growing PE, and BC in the future because between the two I have very good tasting weed, and they both give a different high. The PE stones the hell out of me, where the BC makes me so happy, and again, I am so in love with the taste.

I hope this helps more than it confuses.. :weed:
