first time indoor bagseed

So yea just about June 30th I took a bunch of my friend's seeds and germinated them. About 3-4 days later I put them in Dixie cups with Scotts Potting Soil and fed them about 1-2x a day. Getting very very excited for the upcoming event (and me losing my virginity ) I decided at week 2 to transplant them into my cellar with 2 bulbs about 3-4 inches above the plants. Also too, I started the outdoor season a little late so figured I'd make up for it and just make sure they survived indoors. When I did this, I got Miracle Grow Moisture Control that has peat moss, vercilite, fertilizer and a good amount co2 all mixed in.

Well I'm about 2.5-3 weeks into sprouting/vegetation and I'd just like possibly a few pointers? Should I use mylar to reflect the light around them and would tin foil suffice? Should I get more lights now/later? If I decide to 24 hr these babies with light would it work them to death? I've currently got a timer for 18/6 atm, but figured I'd like to hear a bunch of suggestions.

The fan is about 2-3 feet away from the first one and I angled it so they all get a decent amount of circulation. There's about 8-10 leafs on 3 of them and the last one is catching up quick.

Once again, this is my first grow and any speculation or suggestions/opinions is greatly appreciated. I'll be posting pictures very very soon. :blsmoke:

no to the foil, white paint or mylar should be used. what lights have you got, 18 and 6 should b fine, 24 doesnt harm them but not sure it makes much difference to growth.

ahh ok thanks both of you for the advice, if i could get any suggestions on styles of lights that would speed up vegetation or even just help this one, that would rule.

I'm completely newb with this and I'm just compacting all the useful information I find from experienced growers and see what works with my limited space.

I'm only working these 4 babies and anything to help me in any way would be greatly appreciated. Keep toking :joint:

I'm a newbie grower too, but you seem to a very similar set up to mine, and I think I can suggest a few things from my recent experience. You're doing everything fine except, you might want to somehow get those lights closer to the plants. I mean, like so close almost touching them. about 1 inch or so.. & that one plant looks like it's not getting as much light as the other 3. You would need another set of lights eventually anyway, but for that reason I think it would be efficient to just go ahead and get them now. The most important thing is giving the plants as much light as possible. Oh, and you could keep them on the 24 hour light schedule for a little longer. It's not necessary, but it will make them get through this slow stage a bit quicker. Like the other poster said, you need either mylar or white paint. Tin foil is utterly pointless to use. So yeah .. like I said before, I'm not an experienced grower, but I am in the same position as you except a couple months ahead, so I'll take my observations from my plants and pass them on to you in the process.

I stay away from MG..especially any "moisture control" stuff....way too easy to over water..plus I don't feed at all till the 3-4 week...no need.. soil has all the seedling needs.. dels right paint or mylar...plus as said move lights a bit closer 2-3"..... Luck...

nice nice thanks a bunch guys i'll go ahead and move em a little closer and what is the normal feeding schedule? I hear a lot of things (1x a day, 3x a day, 1x every 3 days) what is the greatest suggestion since I do have this moisture control stuff? Should I even water them? I've been doing it about once a day or every other day.

If I decided to grab another light, what would you guys suggest that could probably be easier to setup/use/buy than this setup? What are all these cool light/hot light options I've been hearing about? :d

Sorry for all the questions, like I said total newb. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

satman: Yea I was actually contemplating ordering a pack of White Widow or Blueberry and throwing them in about 8-12 pots once they arrived but the question comes -- who's the best and most reliable? I don't want to get caught and I'm doing this at my parents house with them just barely letting it happen. I don't want to get too greedy.

How do I yield the most buds for only 4 plants? Should I give em hugs and play classical music for them in the morning?

PEEZ ANYTHING WOULD HELP

how big is your growing space? i didnt see what watt your lights r, you will certainly need more, you have to decide what your budget is,is there good ventilation? the hot lghts would prob return more but you would need more ventilation and head space i guess.
what sort of quantity are you going to be happy with,do you want to clone,if u do then enviro would be fine.

Personally,I am growing from bagseed, decent mids...there are plenty of seedbank threads on here...out of 4 plants, you will most likely have 2 females...and that is your first grow...just pray for all females...lol

but yea ughh i could prob just go 4-6 pots no more. I just want to go through the experience for the first time without cloning, that is unless the buds are crazy.

my experience with clones,i had 9 white rhino, i grew in space about a square metre, headroom was just over 80cm.flowered at 7 inches, grew another 5 -6 inches so ended at about 12-13inches,46 days from going 12-12 light they were finished and got around 3oz dry weight.
i have an idea that short plants ripen quicker.also female every time.:joint:

So at what time do you think it's good to start flowering? About 12-16 inches?

Also, doesn't flowering just mean raise the lights and give them 12/12 instead of 24 or 18/6?

i would say if u not getting better lights you should flower short cause those lights wont do be ne good except 4 the tops, i think u r in america? i dont know all the lights u do over there, i hear lots of people using cfl of different sizes because of cost and space.

Ok well the plants are looking slightly larger, I plan on installing another light but I heard just a couple lights and Mylar setup nice would do the trick. Would you guys agree or do I need more? It's only 4 plants so I wouldn't think I'd need a crazy lighting system.

Let me know either way please, I'll post pics in about a week to show you the progress. Thanks for any help! :)
