i have to grow some myself very soon and the more shrooms the better.
im getting my pressure cooker soon, how many jars will yours hold?

why would you say that they're not worth while? not enough yield?

the 8quart pressure cookers only hold five 1pint jars and won't fit 1quart jars.

the 22-23quart pressure cookers hold eight 1pint jars or seven 1quart jars.

see above. running the pressure cooker isn't cheap or fun, so a big cooker and quart sized grain jars is most effective.

plus, with colonized grain jars, a person can make good casings and get a good yield or a person can spawn a bulk substrate and get a great/potent yield.

hence, grain jars are the way to go and PFTEK being a stepping stone to bigger and better shrooms.

so for my first time, I should def go with the PFTEK method? it wond be until a few months until I will be growing. But I've been studying up on it for sure!

About six weeks after injection these were birthed. Cakes are fun, not much yeild.

i'm sure those grain bags work. it's relatively expensive. those bags are ~50% water. so $7.50 for 1.5lb of grain and $7.50 of 1.5lb of water, plus shipping.

1. wild bird seed is really cheap, you could probably find it for less than $1/lb. WBS is mostly millet anyways.
2. animal feed stores sell rye and millet grains for less than $1/lb
C. you can use those oven cooking bags and silicone and tyvek for the bag with injection site, cheap/free.

just my 2 cents, i don't buy anything for my grows. if i buy something, it's from walmart or the local co-op.

i have enough tyvek to build a hang glider......... hmmm millet is steamed right?

i saw all your posts and pictures and neglected to reply.

those are aborted mushrooms. your cakes are mostly colonized and getting light but no fresh air.

you're already behind the game.

birth them now, pull all those balls off.

they should be the consistency of a normal grocery store mushroom, kinda firm kinda spongy.

give the cakes a good spray with a solution of 1 part hydrogen peroxide (cheap 3% stuff from the grocery store) and 4 parts water.

put the cakes in your fruiting chamber.

if you're lucky, you'll get some pins in a week.

thanks for at least replying so i am bascially fucked for them two jars. if i would have know that sooner before they got so many on there. so i will take the balls off. spray them with that stuff and maybe, i might get some pins. lol thats shitty lol. at least i still have 5 left and 2 in my furiting camber. which really hasn't done much. but i do have good signs on them of pining. so here we go Archangel. new bunch of jars and some nice spores to go with them. thanks. man that is shitty. this will be the last thing i post on here.

if you have complete cakes and clean mycelium, i wouldnt worry too much about those.

read some of the pf tek recipes and other cake recipes.

i have read that one recipe states to use a clean sterilized blade to clean the outer surface of the cakes. kinda like a light scrape to clean. it may have been before dunking, but i dont fully remember.


dont give up as once the mycelium was grown as a cake it is pretty hearty and will fend for itself... i even had slow growing "mildew" type mold on my cakes but the mycelium stayed white. i scraped off the mold and sprayed with h2o2.

it helped but it eventually came back a little in other spots and on one other cake. worst case throw it outside in compost pile or something and let mother nature have a go

They showed how to grow mushrooms you get at the grocery store on the discovery channel show how its made. Cool shit. I want to grow some magic mushrooms but here in CA you can get into some big trouble having them. But im thinking about cultivating edible mushrooms for salads soups, dishes n shit.

heres cake #4. Im going to be printing the big one for spores. My question is.. These spores are going to be mailed. so can i print them on some foil, fold it in half and mail em? I know spores are not illegal, but I want this person to have very good odds. and it looks like jar #5 is getting close to being birthed less than 24 hours

mail a syringe, spore syringes are legal and will stay sterile in the post.

true but a print is cheaper to mail. Im payying to mail it and a few stamps is better than a $5 shipping bill( im a cheap ass)
