First time plant breeding question

So i have about 4 grows under my belt, and i always buy the same seeds every time, in regular form. If i breed a male and female from my usual pack and harvest a huge seed collection, will these seeds produce the same plants that I've been growing all this time? I'm trying to become self-seficient and never have to buy again.

I also think it would be neat to have a huge container of seeds in long-term storage, you know, incase all the cannabis seeds in the world self-destruct or what not, I'll have a stash!

If you select the best male (the smellier and frostier the better) and best female (clone from your best female from seed) you'll have a good chance at finding some seeds similar to your original plants in the resulting seeds, maybe even better. No guarantee since you won't know the history of how they made the strain you have but somewhere between 25-50% of your seeds should have some resemblance to the originals, hell sometimes even better. Plus, you'll have up to hundreds of (free) seeds to search for that "perfect" pheno. Reason I enclosed "perfect" is that in reality there is no such thing as perfect, but it's not a bad thing to fool yourself into thinking that you'll eventually find it, and it's more fun

if you buy in them seeds and then cross bro with sister and make a million seeds

thats good

but if you cross brother with sister say just for 5 seeds every year

you accidentally backcross

undoing the breeders hard work

back cross one gen is good, any more you are in for many surprises

I think i understand what you're saying...if i make seeds this time off the true seeds i buy, then keep making seeds off those seeds I've made, the quality starts to drop? Am i following? Lol

you like me be wanting

to try other strains in any case

so make a lot first time around

use and forget

then rediscover in time to a very plesent surprise
