Hey doods,

Havn't started growing yet but I'm getting everything together. I found a fluorescent bulb in my house and was wondering if it's strong enough, I don't know much about it but it say's:

Philips
F20T12
20 Watt

I'm hoping this is strong enough to use for conveniences sake but was wondering if I need something stronger, and if so the cheapest recommendation please. Thanks for the help.

You can use it to start out with, say the first week or two, but past that point you will definately need more light. Minimum light for growing MJ is 3000 lumens per square ft., with 5000 lumens per square ft. recommended.

u will need more bulbs , my advice to u is to read up on the net this site has plenty of info on CFL growing , and when u buy a light read the box inside out and youll get to know everything from lumens to kelvins

Awesome. Thanks, definately going to hit up Walmart when the time comes. Any bulb recommendations? I might end up with 3-6 plants growing if it helps.

All the bulbs you will need, depends on how much plants your using also: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5/R-100661903/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 (you dont need 12 bulbs unless its a huge grow, $8 each) http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5/R-100663847/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 (also need these)

Urgh! K, thanks d1zl3, those look dope. I'll scrape together some cash and head to home depot. I go there about once a month anyway.

I couldn't afford the HPS lights but I found three 100W CFL lights on sale at home depot that put out 1600 lumen, so that plus the 20W fluorescent long bulb I have brings me to about 6000 lumen. I am most psyched. I've got a small job to do tomorrow so I'll probably spend that cash on the HPS light tomorrow.
