First Timer DWC Hydroponic tent grow with 1000w HPS and MH w/ PICS!

hey guys. This is my first grow, and I've definitely made a lot of mistakes along the way. This plant has taken a beating throughout the whole process, and its still chugging along. I'm growing in a 3.5"x3.5" tent with a 1000w MH/HPS light. I just switched to the HPS bulb after I realized there were buds starting to form around the plant. It actually started to bud before I changed to 12/12 light, is that bad? Its just bagseed, so I really have no idea what it is. Hopefully it turns out to be good stuff!

I'm doing hydroponics because it seemed faster with more yield from what I've read online. I had a problem with the wrong nutrients at first, but that has been sorted out. I'm using the whole Botanicare line now, and it seems to be working out pretty well.

I tried out the whole cloning process to see what I could do...and so far so good. I just have no where to put the clones as of now! Could I put them in the grow tent on 12/12 as soon as they root? I have 4 little clones to find a home for, lol.

How's the plant looking so far? I held up a beer bottle for size reference, a plug for Sam Adams, hah. It's pretty bushy, so I guess that's good. What would you say I can expect in terms of yield? Any input would be appreciated!

Looks good mayne! Keep on keepin on. I give you props!! I tried to do hydro my first grow like 9 months ago and I could never seem to get the nutrients down. Used the advanced hydro 3 part. I learned a lot since then so I am feinding to get another crack at it ;p
Btw I think u might be growing a auto flower. Deff sounds like that if it started to flower without switching the light cycle. Never grew one but from my understanding the auto flower will bud if u give it 5 hrs a day or 24.. Pretty coo but idk seems unnatural to me..

yes you can put them right into 12-12 once they're rooted. What was your light cycle when it switched>? Ive heard some strains can flower under 14-10

Love what you've done with the plant. You REALLY would benefit from a scrog screen so you can open those plants up to get all that light. Good job bro, Grow dat shit!

Yea...I should of planned it out better. I made a scrog screen when I had two plants together, but they were too big already so it didn't look like the scrog would of been a good idea. It's a good thing I didn't too, cuz the second plant turned out to be a male. Next time when I get some female clones or start from feminized seeds I definitely would like to do a scrog setup.

I had two plants on 24 hour light for probably about two months. They started to look realllly bad like they were dying a few weeks into it, and I figured it was either the nutrients or the fact it was a random bag seed. I actually didn't think they were going to make it, so I literally gave up on them and didn't check them or water them for about two weeks. I was using all organic nutrients in a DWC because I thought I was being more "green", however no one properly explained to me that it was extremely difficult to accomplish especially for a first grow. I got a whole new set of nutrients from Botanicare, and planned on starting over. When I went back to these two plants, they actually looked like they recovered all on their own. Pretty crazy. They actually looked pretty good, with a few dead/yellow leaves. I changed out the reservoir with the new batch of nutrients and clipped off all the dead leaves. Another two weeks or so into it the plant you see in the pics started to shoot out little white hairs, so I decided it was time to make the switch to 12/12. I changed it to 18/6 for maybe a week or less to try to make a smoother transition. I switched to 12/12 about three days ago.

Yea, it def could be an autoflower. I don't know. It came from a bag of decent weed. It smelled like good really good stuff, and the high was pretty good from what I remember. It wasn't the best pot on earth, but it also didn't look like it was grown correctly. More like mid-grade stuff. Hopefully I can bring out the best qualities in it :) The whole autoflower thing does seem unnatural to me too. A defiance of nature, lol.

I guess it could also be flowering because I really stressed this plant out by pretty much abandoning it for about two weeks, and the whole nutrient deboggle in the beginning. Time will tell I guess. I still have about 20 more seeds, so I could also start another batch from seed the correct way and see what happens. But that really takes a while. I like the idea of cloning.

Aha yea u should pop a few more and see what they do but the time wait is crucial haha. How come u abounded them for 2 weeks?? That's neglect u kno ;p if that was a child you be in jail right now .. Lol just messin. I try and start with clones cause I like the fact u can flower whenever. But the seeds are interesting tom watch. Plus I'm in Vegas so I'm limited to my clone selection unfortunately

Haha, I'm an unfit parent. Well, like I said in a earlier post I was using organic nutrients. They didn't seem to be too well absorbed by the plants, and they started to turn yellow and eventually look like they were dying. No matter what I tried, they looked worse and worse. I knew I had to get new nutrients, but I've heard of people getting busted after going to the hydro store near me. I opted to order things online, and it took a while for them to ship to my house. When I finally came back to the abandoned plants, they had magically "fixed" themselves and actually looked pretty good. i was really shocked.

Autoflowers being unnatural? Maybe you all just don't know what natural means. Because there is no difference in an autoflower than any hybrid that you have tried. Autoflowers are cannabis ruderalis plants that have been selectively bred with indica or sativa strains for only the autoflowering tendency. Its not unnatural, it could happen in the wild to.

I mean, I'm pretty comfortable with the definition of natural, lol. I just don't really see the point in the whole autoflower variety. Couldn't you accomplish the same thing by just switching to 12/12 sooner? It kind of takes the fun out of growing if its on autopilot. I also read that they tend to not be as potent because you're crossing with ruderalis (a low producer of thc). I dunno. I guess it works for some ppl.
