FIRST TURBOKLONE 1ST CYCLE COMPLETE FAILURE

Yesterday was Day 14, I saw 2 cuts had roots and they were very small single thin strand and not that healthy-looking - and a day later one actually fell off so Im down to 1. All of the cuttings aren't slimy or rotten, just no roots, and wilting now with the dome removed for 24 Hours after D14 yesterday.

Cuttings
6 Different strains, 4 cuts each. 24 Sites completely full. I know a few cuts are from plants a few weeks into flowering. I didn't expect these to root, but I didn't have them backed up and wanted to at least try, so I don't lose the genetics (story of my life). But the majority is from healthy plants in veg.

Lights
18/6. Turboklone is set up underneath a 4' fixture of 2x17 watt led 4K tubes. You could say that it is underneath 1/2 of this area at most so 1/2 of 34w is 17W. 4" from tubes. Lumen meter shows 10-12K Lumens.

Resevoir
TAP is 220PPM, added 100ppm of REMO bloom/micro nutrients, adjusted PH to 5.6. No Hormones, as I wanted to keep things simple with what I had here, and I have heard plenty reports of it really not making a difference for many people. Changed RES at Day 7, this time adding a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide (3% strength). Completely washed out the RES and all parts with soap and vinegar at res change.

Humidity
First 7 days I kept dome on getting 90-100% humidity, taking it off for an hour per day
Day 7-14 I would remove it for 2-3 hours at a time, then put it back on for a couple of hours because they wouldn't stay perky during this time. Yesterday when I saw that they had not rooted well, I decided to take the dome off permanently and see what happens. The picture is 24 hours after.

Temps
Aquarium heater in the Res, connected to a temp Controller, set to 78F and it has a range of 1F, so it stays between 77-79.
The grow room is at 72F (lights on) 68F Lights off. When the dome is on the top area stays warmer so around 74-76 Lights on.

Need to know what do to differently on this next cycle I will be starting in a few days. I have struggled trying to clone for 3 years. I really thought an aero cloner would help me get consistent results, but it looks like my cloning doom cloud has followed me to other systems.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I trim all my cuts up way more. I cut them down to 6" tops and trim everything but the top set of leaves off them.
I've had nearly 100% rate under 10 days since starting the dyna gro combo.

Ok noted, will make them smaller. Thanks! I will be continuing to update this post, with all future attempts so will post pictures of the smaller cuts then.

Everything you did was incorrect. And I’m basing that off of the pictures I see.

follow these instructions.View attachment 4501102
You’ll get this!View attachment 4501107
I did read those instructions, and I looked up a at least 10 guides and tips on rooting in aero cloners.
The picture looks bad because the dome was removed for 24 hours straight and they clearly couldn't handle it. I did that to show that at day 14, they were weak and was going to pull the plug on this cycle and start over.

But yes according to the turbo klone instructions 77 is a few degrees out of their range. And adding 100pppm is also not in their guide. Will lower temps and use straight water on the next one. When and how do you remove your dome. What are your Temps?

temps 68water recirculating in my chiller.
room 75hottest - 69coldest.
No dome(huge mistake if no mature plants are in its radius)

Honestly I didn’t use a dome, don’t even own one.
now that being said I keep the babies next to the mothers.
This builds a humidor of some sort keeps them all happy and moist.

I definelty could tell it wasn’t just the dome being off your water level was way to low and the stems weren’t getting wet. i know this because it happened to me and I had a leak :cuss: but fixed the issue.

Another thing I’ve noticed that they have Nuggies on them meaning you would have to use a hormone to induce root growth. Right now those babies were still trying to grow nugs not roots.

Try it again

Didnt notice these on my phone, good catch.

Flowering plants are harder to clone. Theyll take longer to root and do some weird twisted single blade growth.
IMO, trim some of the wilted stuff off of them and leave them alone for another week. The rest of your conditions are fine for cloning you just took cuts from flowering plants. Ideally you want to clone them before they start flowering.

I found the KLN to work. Ive had much more consistent results using it over no hormone.

That's not a rooting hormone, its just nutrients, not that much different than using 100ppm of my nutrients, which you just told me not to use! Problem with any types of gels with rooting hormone, the sprayer would just spray it off so not much point in aero cloning correct?
I should of been more instructive in my last post use that over your other nute imo. But honestly im basis since it worked for me lol.

Ok will keep dome on until i see roots. Lower my res temps to 74. That will keep the top at 70-72 with the dome on.No nutrients, Smaller cuts. And Maybe I can put some rooting powder in water and make a sludge and stick em in there for a few hours first. And on this run I will use not a single cut from flowering plants. Only from my veg tent. Will post the process here. thx

Another thing to add my man it won’t knock the gel off and if it does it will just be recirculated through the misters.

Listen to @Cannablitzz and add KLN (DynaGro product) and forget the nutrients. I don't use the dome either and it works great.

Put dome back on

Its might be better to just crack the dome after a few days and crack it a little more every couple of days ...if they wilt then close dome a little,

Dont spray the plants after the second day...only spray the dome from then on and that should stop after the first week - ten days or so and then you shouldnt have to spray the dome anymore.

Use a rooting hormone.

Water temp might be too high lower to 72 degress.

Why the water change at day seven dont need to do that.

check ppm and ph daily you dont check it once and leave it alone

Use distilled water or R.O water and add a little nutes to about 250 max. Clonex.

Trim the leaf tips back a little.

I agree with everything stated..
If you still have those girls and they look like the pic you can spray them with RO water only and they’ll rehydrate.

I just ordered this I was able to get that size you show shipped to me for $30 USD. not to bad for a litre of concentrate. how many ml per gallon ?
just use it at recommended rate. its 1/2 tsp per gallon i think? I only add 10ml to my cloner on a fresh change.

The water change at 7 days was to keep things clean. Cleaning out the unit, and putting in fresh water and ph' ing it, I figured could only be a good thing, I know its not necessary once you have it down, but I didn't want to take any chances with any kind of slime building up or anything.

Yeah I dont use much in mine. Tap water KLN+Pro-Tekt combo at recommended rate and a half dose of southern ag. Ph it on fresh fill and check it once a week when I remember. This keeps them nice and green for a few weeks and they crisp white roots just explode once they get going. I let mine grow out until they have 10-12" of roots before transplanting.

I change my water out weekly in my cloner.
