And a question i have central ac in my crib lol so when i hang to dry, will they dry too fast? I am probably hanging up whole plant, not branches. And 2 outdoor here, one sat. dom i think, and it has a citrus like smell and another with pink hairs which i believe to be ind. dom. and it smells more berry like and a little skunky, both are beauties. Opinions, Is it better to cut and hang whole plant or harvest individually ripe buds?

Dear Mr. Humboldt,
I do believe that the humidity level will be extremely low because of the central air conditioning unit I mentioned and will dry the stuff well before the recommended week to ten days, although 5 days is also acceptable. I am thinking that the chlorophyll is not going to adequately escape before it goes into jars for curing; due to the low humidity levels it will dry too fast, because a/c sucks most of the moisture out of the air. Which will leave my dope bone dry and make for a hay smell and harsh smoke, or so everyone says. :-P

listen once you put it in a jar even if its been drying for a couple weeks and is falling apart in your hands, after a 24 hours in the jar the moister will be back and the real curing process begins, just burp the jar once every 24 hours, i do it all the time. in fact i am doing it right now.

my dad grows commercial and he does all of his drying in 2 houses that have been converted to drying houses and they are dark with the A/C pumping.

now there has been times when my dad needs to turn over a drying house faster and he turns the heat on and it speeds the drying up, or one time b4 we got everything cut down b4 the rain came and alot of the colas were soaking wet so he turned the heat on to speed the process up to help avoid mold,

i have been at a medical indoor grow in Oakland upstairs inside a cannabis club and there drying room has they had the AC on nice and cool, i do not know the temp but it was very cool in there and as soon as you open the door to this drying room the AC kicked on again. but then again i ve seen people up here in these mountains just hang the plants in the woods (in the shade) usually because they have no ware to dry 10,000 plants.

hope that helped

Yes it sorta did. Was the humidity at the right level inside the club, say 45-55%? And normally if they are bone dry they will need rehydration. They dont usually self re-moisten if there is not any moisture in the buds that are in the jar, because there is no moisture for them to access to rehydrate. Also heat, light and oxygen degrade thc, or so they say.

yea the humidity was at 50, it was the same as the flowering room.

i have never had the problem of over drying b4 i put it jars,

1 time i forgot i had a couple pounds up in my closet ina box for over a year in 1 gallon ziplock bags and they were so dry that i had to put it all in jars and in each jar i put a piece of lettuce and "BAMMM" the buds swelled right back up and the smoke was great, i sold both pounds and you could not even tell.

yes. lettuce or orange peels and fresh fan leaves and many other things can be used to rehydrate, i even saw someone on here said they used bread

LOL... never heard of bread, but i guess if it has moisture it will work, i have used orange peels b4 and even adds a little citrus smell

I've tried bread and the bud literally tasted yeasty, but what I've used is just a good natural sponge that's a little moist.

What I've done in the past for x-dry buds if I leave the jar open or something; is get a small sponge, not much larger than a dime or a nickel in a ball. I get it wet with distilled or RO water, and ring it to where even heavy shaking won't drip any water, I don't want any water getting on my buds. I put the sponge in a tiny bit of tissue paper to make sure no water gets on the buds. I seal it in the jar for 24 - 36 hours, occasionally re hydrating the sponge, when the bud smokes right I remove the sponge. No added taste, if it was some nasty tasting bud I've sweetened with a citrus peel with great success.
