figured this should be in "politics"...

Regardless of the perp's actions, i think this is unacceptable.

The cop pulled the trigger, the cop shot the lady, the lady died.

The perp did not shoot the lady, but gets charged with a crime, for indirectly "causing" her death, because he "made" the cops fire multiple bullets toward him.

He apparently, somehow, managed to control their minds and force them to draw their weapons and pull the trigger and miss.

Cops should not be shooting toward populated buildings full of innocent bystanders. Not the perp's fault.

(side note: one of the bullets also ricocheted and hit another officer)

I hope the girls family sues or goes after the police... such bullshit. I agree cop may have had to discharge his gun if he was weldng it around. Rather shoot before guy shoots soneone innocent BUT, come obn, all these cops are not using any judgement. The cop didnt know the bar was behind him? He couldnt not have moved to change angle of his shot to NOT go INSIDE the bar?

I was under the impressio police were trained in case senerios arise... seems like they just hire military and expect them to handle citizens in certain way. If they are training them for dealing with citizens then there should be consequences for not abiding by your training.

Also, do police have maditory tests with there firearm skills? Should be tested at a range ever so often. I work with 90% ex military and police officers and they hace said maby times how many cops wont ever have to discharge a firearm but they should be qualified to carry one.

I agree that it's a sticky situation, and kind of a gray area... but i don't think we should be charging a person for something someone else is doing to them (or others).

If a cop accidentally kills someone he shouldn't "in the line of duty," then should we call it an unfortunate accident, or charge the criminal who Did Not perform the action that resulted in harming someone else?

And how does this apply to drug raids? If a cop (among a group of them) assaults a person's residence over "drugs," intrudes, kills a person in their own home, that's okay? But if he shoots toward a perp in public, misses and kills an innocent bystander, that's ALSO okay, but then we take it further and charge the perp who didn't even touch the firearm that caused the death?

Shit is whack! But i don't have all the answers of what to do about it, or how it should be reconfigured to be more appropriate and fair for everyone (which is synonymous with "justice," which is the whole point of having Laws and Enforcers of those laws... supposedly).

Just think, now EVERY police encounter will include a murder charge. Got caught stealing some candy? Cop comes in and starts wildly shooting, killing dozens of innocents and now its all on you ya little candy thief/mass murderer.

I thought beating a guy to a bloody pulp and then if he bleeds on a cops uniform, charge him with assault .
