floro grow update - 4 1/2 weeks flower

I used an HID for my first grow and now I'm going to grow 3x as many plants using hydro instead of soil and I'm going to try to do it all floro. I have a an 8 lamp 'tek light' @ 40,000 lumens and I plan to use somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 CFL's.

The reason is heat. The HPS light that I have will not work when August rolls around and it's blistering at 115 degrees outside. I just can't handle trying to cool the grow room when conditions get like that. Floro should be much easier.

So now you have all the equipment to do it Floro and you get an HID. You can either setup a seperate veggin' area or you have the option to lower your heat output.

i know what you mean by the heat... i'm down in arizona and we'll go for weeks with it being like 100 + weather... fucking sucks

but to compensate, i'll be riggin up a homemade cool tube for my 400 watt lamp and will be venting good...

thank you everyone for your input, and thanks for the rep roseman!
ya'll are the greatest!

Looks real nice for a CFL grow. I am growing with CFLs too, I have about 300w on 2 big plants a couple small ones.

Your grow looks really nice, promising for all the CFL grows out there. Keep up the good work!

actually... the cfls were an after thought, only added once i started flowering... mostly it had just been the floro tubes though

thanks for commenting!!!

I would generally agree with 'HID' for life, except that I believe that Floro is the future. I would rather get a hold on it now. Soon Floro will be the only lights allowed the way the liberals are trying to restrict energy consumption.

I am only using the tubes right now, but I will definitely add the CFL's if I use it for flowering. It's really all dependant on the heat. If the summer is relatively mild, I will flower with HID, but if it's 115 degrees outside I'm going to definitely go with Floro.

yeah, damn liberals! trying to legalize this plant we love

jeesh
no need to talk shit about anyone

liberals ain't bad people, and well, there should be some energy restrictions... but i promise you that personal grows would not be affected by such things...

and anyways cali, the amount of bud i was getting wasn't really the focus on this my first grow - next time when i kinda know what i'm doing i'll be using much better equip... didn't want to waste all that money and come to find growing was too much work!!!

best of luck ya'll

very nice i have a 150 hps but want to go stealth with cfl and flouros. also this plant looks part sativa like mine did you see the tops bend in the early weeks of flowering?
