just wanted some feedback on what i should do with these 2 females should i harvest or leave them going a lil longer ....the top buds look like they have alot more brown hairs as to where lower ones seem to have white pistals on them still.....gotta few pics here maybe you guys can give me some advice

the first 2 pics are the tops colas of the sativa....the 3rd pic is buds below the sativa top colas....the 4th pic is the buds near the bottom of the sativa....the last 3 are the indica top colas

are you guys thinking i should harvest now or wait the full 8 weeks....and what about the lower buds that have the white pistals still should i just harvest the top colas and let the other lower branches grow for a few more weeks or is this bad?

Yea, but its only the very top portion of the colas thats turned. What kind of light are you using?

Ultimately buds aren't always ready when you'd expect, too many factors to add in. Genetics, nutrition, ventilation, light ect. Flowering typically finishes in 8 weeks under only near optimum conditions. I've known of some indoor plants needing 12+ weeks. Your plants look pretty decent, just keep going and let the bud sites fatten up.

Also, don't cut the whole plant at once if your top and bottom buds are maturing at different rates-this usually indicates a light issue. You might have to top the plants and lower the light/s to fill out the lower portions to maximize yield.

basic cfls 10 23watters i had a good grow last time this time its goin a lil slower and all.....so if the top colas have all red hairs should i still wait or will waiting ruin the cola ..?

are you refering to if the top colas look ready harvest them but leave the lower bud sites growing longer to mature more ?
i dont know if this is ok or would it hurt the plant cause if thats the case i will cut the top colas off in a week or 2 and leave the lower ones growing longer

I think you can go a week or two longer on the top portion. Prolly more like 2 weeks. Then the bottom portion accordingly. I've harvested top portions of plants and lowered lights to the bottom portion to finish out. My best sativa strain goes a full 12 weeks. The amber color of the trichomes normally gives you a couch lock high the longer you let them develop in this manner. There is a point when they lose potency. I believe some of this has to do with genetics and strain along with normal physiology. Kind of a trial and error method. Doesn't hurt to harvest a flower at different stages then determine at what week you have the best flower for the effect you're looking for. Have you considered upgrading your lighting system? I've gone to induction lighting with the best overall results thus far compared to ALL the others I've used.

so cut the top colas off in like 2 weeks and leave the lower buds sites to grow and mature longer??

Yes, I had to do that once while in process of changing from HPS to induction lighting. Just don't forget to lower your lights. they stress for a week or so after you harvest what's ready. Then can prolly go another month or more. just watch the formation and color of the trichomes. I think I mentioned that I have a sativa strain that goes all of 12 weeks in flower.

exactly. in my experience the plant will be in shock/stress or a week or so. dont worry about it. they are tough plants and will recover. if you have the time to let the lower potion finish out you will be happier than harvesting too early. another example. I had some 2.5 footers once...went on vacation for 3 weeks. came back to find out i left the fan on and the top 2/3 of the plants were toast. fan evaporated all teh water. as an experiment I chopped off every plant just above the 2nd set of branches. so i litterlay chopped 3/4 of the plant off. they came back in a week and produced well in the end. if you have some propagating, and no time to wait, harvest and continue your next grow.

I saw your discussion and I am very interested in it.
JDawg701 I have done similar things when harvesting my outdoor trees as I called them. They were huge eight-foot affairs it took me well over a week to harvest the whole thing so I just cut the top branches off one at a time. To take the top buds off a growing plant that you intend to let grow and continue flowering for while; I'm not too sure about.
I would think that taking some of the top branches off, would stress the plant out and at the very least slowdown growth for almost a week. Worst case scenario couldn't it make your plant turn hermi?
On my plants you would be taking a significant portion of the top part of the plant off: 1/2 to 3/4.
Do you guys practice this technique all the time or just do it every once in a while?
Have you noticed any side effects from stress in your plant after clipping?
I'm also interested in the growth rates you get off the bottom portion of the plant that's left?

Oh no I'm not intending to do that I have no real estate for that anymore.
I was just curious because I had a problem with hermophaditism last year and I'm really cautious about shocking plants now.
No I just use the bottom part of the plant that is not really good and make hash out of it.

i have a hard time makin hash with is why i never do it .....but if i cut the tops off it should be able to let the lower buds mature and grow bigger ...i hope

I never had a problem with plants turning hermi after stressing them, ie chopping the upper portion off, drought, pinching or breaking branches, etc. this goes for indoor as well as outdoor in my experience. different strains react differently to stress. I find most can handle the stress. Just takes them a week or so to acclimate to the stress. no different results in timing than when you transplant. this is all well and good unless you have a propagation room and need to move plants into your veg or flower room. running CFLs will prolly take a little longer to rebound from the stress.

mine have always matured and became much denser after harvesting the upper portion. just takes time. hash is not the easiest to manufacture. I've found that it's best to use the best buds. the less mature buds i make beer, tincture, or butter with. much easier than manufacturing hash IMO
