Flowering time

First time grower... I just bought some seeds. It says on the website that flowering time is 8 weeks... what does that mean? germination to harvest or start of flowering to harvest?

Thanks

Generally you want to count the weeks from when you see the first sign of pistils on your colas... IMO it's better to not worry about how long it takes but to keep an eye on it... You will know when it is ready as it will change color slightly and you will have a burst of new growth in the last two weeks or so of flowering... I usually start checking trichomes around week 7-8 into flower and harvest when they are to my liking... I prefer more amber trichomes but you can harvest them when they are starting to change to cloudy or milky looking... It all depends on what type of high you want out of it... More amber will give you more of a couch lock feel as the THC degrades... More clear/cloudy trichomes will give you more of a upper cerebral high

Edit: If your growing a Sativa expect it to take longer before it's ready to harvest... :-)

Germination | 1-2 weeks for your seed to sprout into a young seedling.

Vegetative State | Growers can veg their plants from as little as a couple weeks, or keep them in a vegetative state indefinitely. (I.E. mother plants are kept in veg state. clones can then be taken from a mother plant every couple weeks. this perpetual grow cycle allows for quicker flowering phase with the guarantee of female plants). Plants are kept in veg state by providing typically 18+ hours of light per day....

Flower/Budding | Once a plant has reached a desired height, the grower can then switch Lights from 18hrs/day down to 12hrs ON / 12 hrs OFF per day. This will force any female plants to start producing buds.

* People can also start 12/12 from seed.
