Flowering with CFL (switching bulbs???)

I have vegged my plants for 4 weeks. Flowered now for two. I have four f-ft t-8 tubes on the top and then two more four footers on each side. I planted eleven seeds from Nirvana and all eleven turned out to be girls!!

The question is, do I need to switch the bulbs (grow tubes from HD) to something else for flowering. I want to keep it cfl's so HD lights are out of the question.

Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated, thank you.....

Well... it would help if you could tell us what the K is of the lights.... are they 2700k? 3000k? 4500k? 6500k?

And you can grow MJ with the same bulbs from start to end, but when you use warm white for flowering they tend to respond faster better and bigger.

Cool white to start warm light to finish

Hey Tomogchi thanks for helping,

This is the part where I feel like an idiot. I have no idea to answer your question. I just took them off the shelf at home depot, they are "growing lights". Would it say on the bulb??

I believe it would some where on the bulb. While not ever bulb says it, most of them do on the ballast.
Cool white is approx 3000k and under and warm white is 4500k+ (for sake of argument).

There are a few full spectrum bulbs out there too.

If you could get the model number or something from the bulb, maybe i can help you out. Like "Envirolite 23w 2700k bulb" or what ever it is.

They are red spec lights and I'm the lights I have are all 3000K. I really like growing with CFL's, they're cheap and somewhat safe, I guess there is a lot more to this than I thought. The first grow I had I only had the four top lights and this year I added the four lights on the side which made a big difference. Hopefully I'll be able to comprehend the differences in the lights and make the future grows worth while.

How come I am seeing more and more pics of the lightbulb type of cfl's and less of the tubular kind??

Thanks again.....

Simple. (lets say) a CFL is the same as a 2ft flouro. In that 2ft area you can have 5 or 6 of these little bad boys, and its like having 5x the flouros.

And sometimes its hard to fit big tubes in a grow, were as you can fit a lightbulb damn near anywere...

Tomogchi thank you very much. I thought the "cfl" was a flouro. I learned a bunch on this and I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

One last question, on the CFL's, is there a "grow bulb" that you can get or will any bulb off the shelf do??

there arent any grow bulbs that i know of that you can pick up from your local store but most stores that are not hardware specific( lowes or Home depot) will have up to 42w. As for which ones to get look for the color spectrum of the lights you want higher for veg and lower for flower, like 5000k-6500k veg, and 2700k flower. The high spectrum ones are called cool white or bright white and are almost blue when they turn on. The low spectrum are soft or warm white i think and they are less blue and more orange/yellow/red.

Ciao! Hey if your wanting to flower with cfl bulbs. You will need 2300k (kelvin) tempature. It's got more of a red spectrum than blue. Which is what MJ like during 12/12 cycle.

Also, before flipping over to flowering, a little tip for everyone and u: Before flipping the lights to 12/12 give your babies about 24-48 hours of sleep. Helps out in the end.. trust me. :)
