anyone know anything about these?! Looking at them for a 4x4 area. My hydroponics guy is selling one at his shop. Can anyone compare them to Gavita, timber or hlg? They are a bit lore pricey but have 5 star reviews all over and the specs look awesome?

Which one is he selling? Fluence is a quality brand.

He has it for $1,200 I think? so I’m assuming the better one than the spyder. I’m about to go up there and look at it. I was going to pull the trigger on a timber redwood vs, which is roughly $900 with shipping... but I’m still debating.

It’s a spyder x plus w/ dimmer for 1600.

Badass man.
Honestly, I'd hold up a sec and shop around and ask around some. There are some killer deals, and most of these guys will give you a hell of a discount.
Don't get me wrong, you can't go wrong with that light, imo. But you might be able to get more for your money.

If that's the style you are looking for, you can get an Amare Bar8 with an RIU discount for $1,200. Amare also offers a 25% Military discount.
You can get an ILuminar iL8 for roughly the same w/o the dimmer. Link
I'm posting the Bar8 thread probably tomorrow.
(I have both)
Well honestly I was going to get that Timber Redwood VS. it seems good and s cheaper choice at $856 with shipping. Was looking to spend no more than $1200. So the spyderx plus is out my range atm.

Here is a link to it. https://fluence.science/store/spydr-series/spydrx-plus/ 1030 ppfd @ 6 inches above the canopy would be more then enough light for a 4x4. But yeah they make quality lights but I don't know if given the choices I would more then likely go with the latest HLG even though it is ugly as hell it is more efficient and a bit cheaper.
I was looking at the hlg 550 v2 or respec or whatever it is lol. I have a 300w Samsung strip led but not the 301s. I got it from the legendary nfhiggs himself. I wanted to try a different “type” of led aka cobs.

I would blow it up with a DIY then, seriously. You can build one hell of a light with your budget that would blow anything that a name brand will give you out of the water. IMO.
I’m at the point where I’m setting up so much and got a lot going on that I’d rather not try doing a DIY project right now. Rather just get it up and going ASAP tbh. I do plan to make some DIY lights for the sides and lower parts of my tent eventually. That’s why I was avoiding strips for the moment. And have a few different types of lights in my 8x4.

My idea was having timber cobs on the top hanging. Samsung 301b strips on the sides on my tent. And then maybe toss additional lights just to Maximize stuff ya know? Lol.

The spydrx plus is a older design and they run very warm at 100%. Get the new models like the spydr 2p for a 4x4 area they are more efficient and run cooler. Fluence is the company many of these led companies follow just not as refined as fluence and dont have the warranty like they do. Diy is great but if you want something that is very sleek and refined go fluence. Top notch and their tech will be good for years.

301b on the spydr 2i on the 2x and 2p they use 561 but I’m not sure if they are all 301b now. They are good about keeping up with the technology unlike most companies will just keep using the same diodes years later where fluence changes with the times
