My tap water is about 7.3 PH. Since this is a little too high, after I flush my plants with tap water should I then water them water that has a lower ph??? Thanks

I do water with the correct ph. Flushing is when you pour large amounts of water through your soil to remove toxic fertilizer build up in the soil. When flushing, one would expect to pour 25 to 50 gallons of water through 5 gallons of soil.

Why wouldnt you still flush with a pH of ~6.5?? why flush all the nutes out of the soil just to water them with a pH 7.3? i'm sure thats not good for roots either. I thought the whole point was to keep the soil pH around 6.5.. even when i do flush the plants every month i still use the lowered pH water, not tap water

Yes you are probably right that 15 gallons is enough for a 5 gallon pot. When I put my plants under the faucet and go do something else, they get much more that 15 gallons. I was also showing the difference between watering and flushing to the poster who asked "why not water them all the time with a lower ph?" So, come on man...don't be a douche. You obviously don't have an answer.

Edit: And yes, i do have an answer. You want to flush and water with the correct pH all though it is not nearly as important to flush with the correct ph as to water with the correct ph. Just pour like 10gal of water through your plants. Let them dry until the dirt pulls away from the side of the pot, THEN water with correct ph'ed water. If you are using soil it should be somewhere between 6.2-6.6 something like that with 6.5 being ideal. Even if you flush them with the PERFECT pH water and then turn right around and start watering them with the wrong pH water...well that defeats the purpose. ALWAYS use the correct pH water dude, ALWAYS! And im sure you know this but if you are using nutes of any kind you add those first THEN adjust the ph. But im sure you know that. There, hows that for an answer? That is the correct answer given to you in a clear, step by step answer.

A little aside ... to a hydro grower flushing means using fresh pH corrected water with no nutes (other than the optional but recommended flush/rinse solution) the last two weeks before harvest. I'm sure most of us know this but just wanted to mention it in case some weren't aware.

I don't think everyone knows whats going when dealing with there grow, I know I didn't that is why I came to this site.
I always was thankfull for ppls time and answers but I always take it with a grain of salt.
I can always tell how old someone is on the other side when you are tring to help them and they give you shit for doing so.
I was also told that you can use ro or dist. water to flush but like most have said you always want to give the plant the same level of ph (water) @ 6.4/6.5 (soil)
