Flushing in Coco Coir

So I'm coming to the final stages of my first grow and have a question about flushing. I know people say it doesn't effect anything but I disagree, here's why. Having an over abundance (a-bun-dance) of nitrates and micro elements will lead to a harsher smoke.

Basically if you over fert flush, if not, don't flush. I have about 2mm of burn on the tips of the top leaves.

So would a 5-7 day flush be okay? Since coco doesn't hold much in the way of nutes and is flushed so easily.

Cheers guys.

I'm not organic mate, been using Plant Magic's Coco range, I'm quite impressed with only comparing to other grows online.

I like to, but there is a lot of naysayers around here that say it is pointless. I use a 5-7 day period as well making sure that the first of those days is very productive. Then everyday ample clean water and I always get tasty nugs. There are people who are flushing for 14 days and are paranoid beyond explanation that may disagree here.....but I want frost!!!! I feel shady not flushing and I use nutes aggressively enough to know that it is beneficial. With COCO you are always flushing in a sense if you are getting proper runoffs. I think flushing is positive and should be done monthly, but whatever you decide the best of luck to you and your ladies. Note: I read that it is helpful to increase the light cycle to 14-10 during this final week and am trying it out, looks legit....hard nugs.

Well if it's pointless we're saving money on nutes right? As you said, I've always had about 0-40% run off in coco all through the grow so I think a 5 day flush of water then a 48hr dark period is going to be my strategy here. Thanks for the input mate. I might look into that 14-10 cycle.

Cheers

IMHO I think the 48hs of darkness is complete shite and a waste of time. Your leaves will look droopy and dead and also it makes it very hard to prune your lovely buds!!. Chop the plant as soon as the light comes on. This way your leaves will be pert and the whole job of pruning will be easy and the plant will look its best, not like a shrilled up thing that is dying badly from lack of light...
It's your grow , so it's up to you mate....

Just my 2p..
Happy Growing:peace:

Personally I do not flush in coco.

But then I also don't over feed.

I test the EC of what I'm putting in vs the EC of my 20% runoff. This way I can keep the plants just getting enough nutes.

Right now I'm at week 7 or 8 of 12/12 and the EC is going in at 1.0 and coming out at 0.8.

By doing this they only get what they need and there isn't any point in flushing.

I very rarely exceed 1.2EC other than on PK1314 weeks.

If you've only got slight burning somewhere I wouldn't worry. Check your runoff levels vs your feed levels.

If your strength (ppm/EC/TDS) increases then back off feeding a little.

If it comes out alot lower then increase feed strength.

Its real easy to do.

I was following this for a while until about 6th week in flower when I sort of judged it by eye, must of made a hot mix after LSD hah. Also the plant became rootbound and I was too late to notice, but still pretty chuffed with the results. Can't wait to start my second now I got my shizzle together.
