Hi I was watching a video on youtube over greenhouse seed's hawaiian snow grow. I know this is a total noob question but.......one of the guys in the video keeps talking about "flushing" to keep the plant healthy. What exactly does he mean by that and how would it be done?:leaf:

Flushing actually can take out contaminates that some fertilizers and water brings in (salt, etc...) I wouldnt constantly flush a marijuana plant unless it is drooping and doesnt seem to be healthy for a few days. But you should flush your plant 2 weeks before harvest to get the bad taste of fertilizer out of the bud. Everyone has their own techniques. Flushing will take the nutrients u fed into the dirt away. You will need to feed after you flush every time. Its a waste IMO.

those guys feed real strong and flush like every two weeks!!!but they are basically getting the salt buildup out of their medium so they can continue to pump nutes!!!

Yeah, I would only flush in the last few weeks of a grow, maybe even just the last ten days. You don't need to flush constantly unless your nute levels are too high - IMHO.

When you're flushing all the time, you will be washing away your nutes, won't you? What a waste of money.

To me, it's just better to learn how to use the nutes right the first time so you're not adding too many and causing any burn.

I've also used Advanced Nutrients Final Phase with the flushing to help take out anything that might make the grow taste crappy.

But some people say just water works fine.

To flush or not to flush? That's always the question. And you'll probably see about a million different answers and reasons for it - and against it.

I'm for it - but not all the time.
