yea... the green shit is algae... from the light hitting the cubes.. nothing to worry about tooo much.. you can spray them with h2o2 (hydrogn peroxide) and that will take care of it.. i would spray them a couple times prior to going into the v-drip just to be safe.. a light spray will work fine...

Holll-eee shit my man. Dude, I totally have a semi-love on right now. Wow. Man I am just a little teeny squirrel in your world. THanks again for all your time, as I can see it is quite fukn valuable.

ANd sweet christ man, how the balls do you rinse all that hydroton.

Wow, man I would love to get there one day.

I can tell ya man, I believe you have helped me catch the bug. I don't care what happens, I'm gonna keep these my primary hobby for quite some time. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner, when I was younger & had less to lose. But shit, I wanna set up like that.

With the way things are changin w/ the movement, could be sooner rather than later.

Really wanna make something like that my vision once I make it back to the West Coast.

Congrats & mad respek my man.

ALways lovely to see the doctor @ work.

Fukn wicked, man im jealous, but indeed you deserve all the fruits of your labor. You are a very noble & self less cat volunteering your time to help this movement.

THanks for everything & I totally am living vicariously thru ur u-tube videos right now.

Stay up brotha!

honestly, helping others makes it all worth while in the end... granted it is great just growing and having great harvests.. but its truly amazing to know im helping out others and getting them into the hobby as well... giving you guys the edge that i never had... kinda feel like mr. meyogi teaching the karate kid.. lol

Hey what's up simpson. A few more questions coming to you. So I got my plans in order and I am building that box you been helping me along with this weekend. I just ordered a milwaukee ph600 and a hanna tds meter and they should be here saturday. I only got like one solution with each. First I don't really know how to use them but I figure a few youtube videos and I should be good but maybe you can offer me some hints, tips, and experienced advice. Second I am going to my local store this week and getting those big cube blocks and some small rockwool cubes also. I was planning to get some olivia or somebodies cloning gel, but do I also need cloning solution to soak the cubes in. I am leaving enough room for some floro tubes to run up the sides of the box but I wonder if the plant actually gets big and touches the floros will it burn the leaves and is side lighting even that necessary or will it add more wires and headache to the box. Also I already have some miracle gro so I am going to use that but I don't really no anything about nutes and on my first grow I just let them grow without anything and barely any water. This time I want to get professional and do the right thing to give my super sweet baby girls what they need. Hey one more thing I seen this thread where this one guy built a box and put insulation in the sides to help with temps. Do you think I should try this. I plan on building a big really nice pimped out box after my first harvest so do you think I should wait for that.

Dude....... I just watched that video you posted. I am guessing that's all you. That shit is fucking amazing. How big is that room and what's your setup if you don't mind me asking. Man... as soon as I get a house Im blowing that shit up. Im going to have a huge ass room like that with all the crazies in it. How do you get around in that thing? Hey show I just read your living in the south. That's like me. Yeah it's crazy lawful down here. But there are some crazy unlawful down here too. I think we will be the last ones on the legalization band wagon. But that's cool because I found my new favorite thing to do with my time and it doesn't matter if its legal or not because Im still doing it.

alright... so first thing we'll go over are the pens...

the ph pen should go like this.. when you first get it use the ph solution included to calibrate it... it will tell you how to do that.. it should be fairly simple... when you are ready to use it just turn it on and let the probe end sit in the solution for a minute and thats the ph.. adjust the ph if needed and check again... clean the probe off when you are finished..

the tds pen will act much the same way... calibrate it when you get it (if it isnt permanently calibrated).... dip it in and wait for a read out.. i suggest using the EC read out if it offers one.. that is the most accurate and best to go by... but any of the ppm type read outs will work...

you dont need any sort of cloning solution to soak the blocks in.. you can get some sort of rooting nutrient if you want tho... like root 66 or something.. just to help roots get strong....

the floros can burn the leaf tips if they sit on the bulbs.. but it is beneficial to have them if you can figure a way to attach them so they are moveable... or if you can get something like chicken wire (or better yet, mesh screen) to put around the bulbs to keep the plant from growing into them that would work well...

miracle grow is terrible soil.. if you can get something else thats better i would.. i understand this is somewhat a test of sorts... but you may end up with really bad results... reason being is miracle grow is loaded with nutes.. all purpose nutes.. that are released everytime you water... whether your plant needs it or not... nutes are used in different amount throughout the grow by your plant.. this means its likely that there will be nutrients that dont get used and can make for a toxic environment for your plant... i dont want to scare you.. just a word of warning... with that being said, since your starting in rock wool and are letting them grow out they should have good roots that can handle the miracle grow... you are going to want to get some sort of nutes tho.. ideally a grow and a bloom formula... a 2 part system is easy to use and will ensure your plant will at least get the basics of what she'll need to produce you a decent harvest....

as far as insulation goes... there shouldnt be a need for it.. you shouldnt have any heat issues... but it really comes down to how much work you want to do... personally i would wait to go balls out on the setup i am going to permanently keep... but thats just me..

yes this is sticky... very, nice job sampson
thank you

yes sir.. that is my little corner of the world... my garden of zen.... i have 2 rooms.. a veg room and a flower room... veg is about 5x9... flower is about 7x9.... i run ebb and flood systems.. CAP ebb and gro systems to be exact... got 1 for each side... 4 x 1000w hps lamps for flower... the veg room will be 6 x 420w satellite IV floros soon enough... i have 4 of them now and 2 x 400w hps lamps.. but like the satellites much better... and i have water chillers for each res... what you saw was 13 girls total... its kinda hard to get around in there.. but i manage to have enough space to move along 1 side.. i cant get to them all.. but as long as they are looking healthy there is no need to check on them....

Hey brotha, was happy & a wee bit concerned when I saw that basically all my cubes have got roots poppin thru the bottoms.

How long will they be cool like that?

Should I go ahead & get them into those square 4" pots (which also do fit into v-drip), or leave in cubes for duration til autos finish?

Also, that whole "explosion" thang you were talkin bout happened. White hairs flippin everywhere me brova.

I'll throw up a pic soon, def bud porn in my book thus far.

I take it that it's safe to assume that I dodged that nasty bullet a few weeks back? Otherwise, the "explosion" wouldn't have happened if they were knocked up.

Don't think I'll ever forget that day that you positively ID'd that male.

Was @ work, (usually check in the AM once I get into office for your replies).

Saw you said that it's had nuts & you said "you need to remove him, this needs to happen NOW". haha

I straight dropped evthing I had goin, made some BS excuse & made it home & yanked that fucker within bout 10 mins. of reading that reply.

Let's hope I in the clear, If so, thanks for the save my man.

Lemme know bout cubes & if I should dance the jig yet!!

yeah... i would say you are definitely beyond the worry point.. your all good... congrats on missing that one..

as far as the cubes go you can throw them in the system if you want or you can let them grow as is for the moment.. if they stay moist the will stay alive... the plants may stunt their growth for the moment.. but depending on how long is left you may be ok...

cant wait to see pics.. ill give you an estimated chop date...

Give me your best seed to hydro media...

Howdy SS, great thread, tons of info here and your enthusiasm to help out the fellow grower is commendable!

Hoping to get a little help determining sex...dont want to chance letting a male mature at all.
My buddy has 14 plants in week 6 from seed. Vegged for 5 weeks under a 1000watt MH. They are in first week of 12/12 (transition week), just switched to the HPS bulb for flower. Using Canna Aqua nute line, running about 1.5 EC on aqua vega a-b still (plan on switching to the aqua flores a-b @ end of this transition week...sound right?)
All seeds from attitude bank:
4- AK48 - Feminized
2- Jock Horror
1- Sleestack/skunk
2- Super Lemon Haze - Feminized
2- Pineapple Express - Feminized
1- Lockstock - Feminized
1- Kandy Kush/Skunk
1- LA Woman

First grow. Built a stealth hydro type setup (slightly larger) using 30 gallon bins and 8 6" net pots per. Left one hole empty in each for easy maintainance access.
One of the Jock Horrors looks like it's gonna be a male, can you look at the first 3 photos and let me know what you think? Also would you mind giving me your input on the progress of the plants for being in week 6 on this setup?

Thank sweet goodness that i dodged that bullet. Dude, they are gettin all frosty & stanky & I jsut pretty much pull up a seat after a long shitty day & just stare @ those sexy bitches. It's really kinda startin to look bitchin in there.

So thanks so much for helpin me dodge that bullet (still knockin on wood just in case).

Anyway, back to the photos girls in cubes.

Could you clarify what you mean't on last post about "stunting" their growth? What exactly am I doing that would cause that?

They all have been on 24/0 lighting since they sprouted.

Moms are going into Waterfarm this weekend for sure. Others will be on drippers after that point (yeah, totally over the hand watering shit). All are geting that algae, should i hook em all up with some squirts of peroxide?

Also, can I start changin them over to 18/6. If so, any potential problems or issues I could run into by changing light cycle?

I remember you sayin light stress is the biggest no no, so just wanna be certain.

My plan is to run waterfarm w/ x2 moms in it on 18/6. Make the rest that are in cubes switch to 18/6 also. Until autos clear out & I can get into tent. Once the move into tent w/ hps, should I switch right to 12/12, or maybe let em get used to the HID on their same photo cycle of 18/6 for a few days, then switch to 12/12.

The main reasons I can't run the moms & blocks 24/0 is because they are all in same closet as the tent, & I'm trying to make sure that the closet will be totally dark for @ least 6 hours. That leaves only 6 more hours with me havin to cover all openings of the tent to keep completely dark, make sense? I prob. did piss poor job explainin.

But I believe you know what I mean.

I'm gonna have to duct tape the vents on the tent shut, as well as the some air intakes on the bottom.

Please holla back for clarification, or with prognosis.

Thanks doc!

i personally like rapid rooters or root riot cubes... they offer quick initial root growth and work well in all hydro systems....

same with clones... i tend to rip the cubes open and put cloning gel into the opening when i use them for clones... just to make inserting the clones a little easier...

the plants look very healthy and very happy... seems to be a great environment for them...

bad news is it appears that the pics are of males... at least the close ups.. it may take a few more days to identify with 100% certainty.. so dont pull them yet.. but definitely keep and eye on them and take pics in a couple days and post...

i think by stunting i meant that the roots, when they grow out of any given space, can stunt the growth of the plant... its nothing bad.. but you can use the root growth to stop the growth of the plant a little.. this all related to you asking how long the roots can grow out of the cubes... i hope that made a little more sense...

you can flip to 18/6 and move over whenever you need...

go ahead and give them a good spray with peroxide to get that algae under control.. you may have to apply a couple times.. but you'll be good...

when you switch them over to flower giving them a day or two under the HID isnt a bad idea.. give them a little adjustment time...

Ahh, so letting them (roots) grow thru the cubes might actually do what I was hoping, stunt growth just a wee bit to ensure they don't get too tall for v-drip before autos finish.

I do have the option of putting them into 4" square net pots (I ordered extra pots on top of the ones holding the autos in v-drip system). Should I fill up the new pots w/ hydroton & throw cubes in there?

Also, I assumed (granted ASSumed), that it would be better for the cubes to not sit directly on bottom of drip tray. SO that they aren't sittin in any stagnant water or anything (there usually is bout an 1/8" of soultion @ bottom of drip tray, as the lip of the drain fitting protrudes that far. Lmme know if that doesn't make sense.

So I found some small wire rack type things that keep the cubes bout 2" from the botto of the tray.

I'll take some pics tonight so u can see algae, setup & the FUKN BLOOMERS.

I really am so fucking pumped bout those fuzzy poosies!

For real dude, I'm pretty sure I rubbed one out while just gazing at them last night. HA

Cheers to you my friend. YOu do some really cool & extremely important shit that most pricks on here are too self righteous, or stuck up to ever even come close to. I see everyone does a good job of thanking you.

But man you have totally (virtually) held my hand thru this goose & really do fukn preesh it. Really gonna find a way I can return some type of favor to you 1 day my man.

Stay up, I'll get pics up tonight soon as I can get some free time. Though they will obv. pale in comparison to that sweet goodness I saw on the utuber the other day. That shit is stained in my memory dude.

I want that one day (when I have space & what not). Really gotta find out how the balls you got that (im guessin here) 10K watts of juice pumpin. You a pimp my man, thanks for everything.

Hey bro, saw the post above about sure to grow (sounds like its the exact opposite).

Anyway, thats the white kinda styrofoam lookin stuff, correct?

Please advise, I actually was virtually a click or two away from buyin that shiz for my first go, then ended up playin safe & goin w/ hydroton @ the last minute.

Sorry to hear bout your issues.

I'm still breakin my cherry on first grow. Sampson recommended rapid rooters. Soaked them in some root stimulant for a few hours & they were ready to rock.

Bout 90% germ rate on first batch. & bout the same (I fukd up & let em get to dry 2nd go) for the follow up batch.

Anyway, they totally did the trick. Very porous seems like roots were thrivin quick style. I believe it was 8 days from the day beans sproutin til I dropped 'em straight into hydroton & they have performed wonderfully from there.

On second batch started in same way in rooters. Thru into rockwool cubes maybe 9-10 days later. & got roots bustin thru the rockwool now after bout 10 more days. So yeah, RR's are lovely!

For what it's worth, thats my humble opinion. Sampson get ya straight though.

Pitty, thought that sure to grow shiz looked great. (Easy clean up, no conditioning or rinsing, etc.)

If you could reply back to make sure we are on same page (so I know never to try it).

Take care, & good luck friend

SimpsonSampson... i will get pics up as soon as i take some new ones. i've also ordered new seeds for the next grow.... just to be safe. i'm debating on whether or not to chop the current plants down. they've been nothing but a nightmare throughout the entire vegitative cycle... if i even were able to make it to flower, how well do you think they'd produce? they're weak and growing Super slow now, so where are they going to get the burst of energy and strength to produce large, strong, healthy buds? i've already lost alot of time on them. they're a month and a 1/2 behind already. my thinking is to just cut my loses and get the new seeds going asap. i could veg them for a month like normal, and possibly be done with flower by the time the current plants get to the proper height to flower.... what's your take on the subject? thanks.

This what i mean't bout the screen that holds 'em up to keep from touchin bottom of tray.
Got keep these goyles happy til the autos get chopped. Break off some wisdom chief!

Also, sprayed peroxide lightly on on the affected spots (the ones w/ green shmegma),
I assume it is best to treat w/ preox. after feedings, correct?

Also, yeah, really wanna know if you think I should pot them in their 4" baskets, or keep in cubes. Again, got 20" vert. space to work with, and thats bout it. Think things will pop together right in time?

Any takers?? For real thanks again for evthing my man. Look forward to hearin ur feedback!

Also, the last pic is a auto white russian i forgot to put w/ the others. It sucks for real, cause some o' the most diesel lookin nodgies are in the back of the tent & can;t get a good clear shot. Got bout 3 that are a good handful, & I got some big ass hands. Anyway, you'll see @ the chop (lawdy willing), any takers on est. chop date? I'm super psyched.

thanks bro

definitely sounds like you got the idea with the roots.. its not going to top them by any means.. but should buy you a few days...

no reason to throw them in net pots without being ready for the system..

you were right about the cubes.. what you set up is fine....

thank you as always bro.. appriciate all the thanks and praise..

i have 2500ws for veg and 4000ws for flower.. and really it doesnt do much to my elec bill.. im a single guy in a three bedroom house... got plenty of things i cut power to.. but really its not as bad as what everyone thinks.. basically would use the same amount with 5 space heaters running... and they would actually pull more power since they would run all the time.. the rest of my set up pulls little power at all.. works out nicely..

SimpsonSampson... i will get pics up as soon as i take some new ones. i've also ordered new seeds for the next grow.... just to be safe. i'm debating on whether or not to chop the current plants down. they've been nothing but a nightmare throughout the entire vegitative cycle... if i even were able to make it to flower, how well do you think they'd produce? they're weak and growing Super slow now, so where are they going to get the burst of energy and strength to produce large, strong, healthy buds? i've already lost alot of time on them. they're a month and a 1/2 behind already. my thinking is to just cut my loses and get the new seeds going asap. i could veg them for a month like normal, and possibly be done with flower by the time the current plants get to the proper height to flower.... what's your take on the subject? thanks.
i never like hearing people abandoned their grow mid point.. mainly because i dont like them to feel like a failure and be discouraged at all going into their next grow.. things happen without reason and sometimes that means dead plants... i lost 3 girls when i flipped mine into flower (the ones that are in my youtube vid)... not only that but one was flowering very nicely and just died out of no where.. so if you do chop dont take it as a failure.. just as a learning experience...

if you do keep them going its going to take some recoup time.. yes more time.. thats every growers enemy... starting over is faster.. i guess thats up to you.. cant really say what i would do... prolly say fuck it and start over...

you could always start the new seeds and veg them and flower everything at once.. give the time to the plants to get stronger.. that would be fine... again its up to how much work you want to put into them...

alright, i tried a few dif. angles & w/ or w/ out the hps on. It's just to damn dark w/ out the hps on (can't get light from the flo, its blocked off), so it's just a shitty lamp i have. So lighting ain't that great, but take a peak & lemme know what ya think doc!
looking good bro.. very nice..

from looking at the pics here is what i can tell...

1, they are eating properly.. you can bump up the bloom nutes if you want to really start pushing them hard... but they are eating balanced and right right now.. adding more bloom wont fuck that up...

2, from the looks of things you prolly have about 3 weeks left until they are done.. a bit closer of a pic would help me.. but from what i can tell thats about where your at... you should have them buds double between now and then....

looking good bro... nice job...

Anyway, you'll see @ the chop (lawdy willing), any takers on est. chop date? I'm super psyched.

thanks bro
screens good...

sticking to my original time estimate...

if height really becomes and issue on them, or they start to stretch, we'll do some pruning to keep them short... or assist in it... should be fine tho...

spraying after feed is fine... you can also add the peroxide to the feed if you want... this will kill all the beneficial microorganisims at the roots.. so you'll want to add some super thrive or something after you feed a couple times with peroxide to recolonize the root system... but thats not a big issue...

sorry if i seem short guys.. had a litter of puppies yesterday... call me an overly concerned dad.. lol 5 males and 2 females... along with the 4 adult and 1x 5 month old pup (from a litter i had a while back).... im like the crazy cat lady, except im a dude... with dogs... and im not weird.. so maybe thats a poor comparison.. anyways.. havent slept much the last few days... anyone decides they want a pup in about 6 weeks let me know... lol colby pit and american/razor edge pit mixes.. all brendal.. some dark (blackish/greyish brendal) and some brown brendal... beautiful pups with big ol heads...

definitely sounds like you got the idea with the roots.. its not going to top them by any means.. but should buy you a few days...

no reason to throw them in net pots without being ready for the system..

you were right about the cubes.. what you set up is fine....

thank you as always bro.. appriciate all the thanks and praise..

i have 2500ws for veg and 4000ws for flower.. and really it doesnt do much to my elec bill.. im a single guy in a three bedroom house... got plenty of things i cut power to.. but really its not as bad as what everyone thinks.. basically would use the same amount with 5 space heaters running... and they would actually pull more power since they would run all the time.. the rest of my set up pulls little power at all.. works out nicely..
